Mirohoshi was debating on whether to overpower Sanyu with ki early on or to wait, but Sanyu's sudden start didn't leave him much time for that. He did, however, find time to raise an eyebrow at the upraised fist. Really, that wasn't the brightest thing she could've done, broadcasting a move like that. Fluidly, he slid himself into a lower position, bending his knees, giving him a little more quick movements, and making it easier to contend with the much shorter opponent.
He almost didn't register the sudden change as she shifted to a kick. Almost. But he hadn't been combating Hollows for nothing, as his eyes were fairly adjusted to quick movements. His right arm came across his body, his hand clasping around the shin aimed for his ribs as he twisted, looking to pull her down with just that leg. A soft pop could be heard as her shin and his hand met, his angle slightly off for grabbing her, causing his thumb to nearly dislocate itself, which would've made for a crappy start to the fight.

Sanyu almost laughed at the move. Didn’t he know that it wasn’t a good idea to grab an attack while it was still moving? It was always smarter to stop the momentum first. It would’ve been wiser for him to have come around with the one arm, but blocked with both arms. Not with the hands, but the arms. Then he could’ve slid down into a firm grab with both hands, if that’s what he really wanted to do.
She honestly hoped that the rest of the fight wasn’t going to be like this.
She pulled her foot back and planted it. But she wasn’t one to do only one thing at once. Already she was making for a short jab with the fist he had only just blocked a second ago. Part of her wanted him to block this. Part of her wanted him to try and hit her. She knew plenty of throws she just wanted to test on him. And also, it would make the fight more interesting.
And that’s what it was all about, right?
She wasn’t one to talk during a fight. Talking was a waste of time and air. Not to mention, it was cheap. It was either a good way to distract someone, which was like cheating in her mind, or it drew more attention to your attacks. She didn’t want either effect.

Mirohoshi mentally cursed himself. It was just not a good sign to start off the battle by injuring yourself. His immense strength normally would've allowed him to pull that off, but it had to be done perfectly, or it hurt - and he hadn't managed it perfectly.
The sudden change in pressure was more than noticeable as Sanyu's leg left the ground, and Mirohoshi knew that could only mean one thing, especially as it forced enough of change to free her leg from his grasp. Without looking for it, his right arm, now free from what it held, shot up with the intent of stopping the kick that had to be aimed for above his waist.
At the same time, he pulled back his left hand, leaving it open. As her leg found her arm, he twisted at his hip, looking to drive his palm into her chest to knock her flat on the ground.
