I'm pretty sure from the very little I've read about it so far that I have a derealization/depersonalization disorder. But as I said I have read very little about it. Most of the info I've found so far was from this site: http://www.dpselfhelp.com/ I was wondering if anyone else knew anything about it or any other sites on it or have experienced it as well?

I don't know much about that disorder, so I can't help you there. I do know from experience that self-diagnosis is never helpful and can often be harmful. You can sometimes accidentally ignore symptoms you do have and imagine symptoms you don't have. If you have a problem and want a diagnosis and treatment, you'll need to go to the appropriate professionals. I hope you feel better soon!

I've tried to explain what it's like to my doctors and they look at me like I have three heads. And I'm afraid that if I say that that's what I think it is, then I'm self-diagnosing and they'll completely dismiss it, but what do I know right? So I really don't know what to do.

If your doctors aren't even trying to solve your problem, then you need a new doctor. If they just look at you instead of trying to treat a problem that negatively affects your life in an extreme way, then you need to get somebody who will help you instead of pushing them to do something just for the sake of doing something. I'm sorry that you're in this rough position. It sucks to have to jump around until you find a good doctor, but they're out there. Instead of spending your time trying to influence their decisions, spend some time writing down all your symptoms and then go to another doctor and ask what he or she can do to alleviate your symptoms.

Yeah, I am working on getting a referal to a psychiatrist right now, my doctor says there are only two that he knows of that are accepting patients and I've already went to one of them and it didn't work out, so hopefully my doctor can get me in to see this new guy. Maybe he'll actually listen to me...

i am in almost your exact same position. I KNOW that I have depersonalization, but a diagnosis is impossible to get, because yeah, its really really hard to explain what its like confused , and even if you can, it takes a lot of convincing, because for some reason psychiatrists think it is impossible for you to have it.

For most of us with depersonalization, we read a description once, and know that that's what we have. If you have it, you know you have it. There's not a cure for it, and medicine won't really do anything except maybe help you feel better about it, but I say to read about buddhism. Read about buddhism, and so many things start to make sense trust me.
Ive never met anyone else with it, but from the internet, it seems like a lot of people actually do

I tried to tell the doc that I saw people like monkeys, that life seemed like a trip. dont think he understood.. is that kinda how u feel?
