The sun began to sink low upon the horizon as Kijito entered the elephant graveyard. He hadn't been here since he was a small cub and for some reason felt the need to return to the dreary place. His muscles were tense and alert as he moved into the area slowly. The young prince grinned remembering the tales his father had told him about his older brother Simba and all the trouble he had caused here. Feeling rather playful, the mute lion idily swiped at one of the various bones lying upon the ground and watched as it rolled into the shadow of a large elephant skull.

The florescant hyena made her way through the graveyard as well, her coat sticking out in the gloomy dusk around her. Her bright green eyes travelled around as she came to a halt, her sights ending on something interesting. A lion. She grinned. A lion out here, eh? She hadn't even seen a lion in what seemed like forever. She had been wandering around aimlessly for a long time, and had found herself in the seemingly-deserted area a few days prior.
With a strut she meandered over towards the lion playing with a dried up bone. She plopped herself down in front of him and grinned. "Well, well, well. A lion, eh? I haven't seen one of your kind for a looong time." She said, her voice high-pitched yet soft. "What are you doing way out here, and all alone?"

Kijito blinked as a brightly colored hyena sat herself in front of him. Taking a small step backwards, just in case of course, Kijito sat as well. Cocking his head slightly to the left, he shook his maneed head trying to show that he couldn't speak. A look of intense concentration crossed his features, as he tried to figure out something.

Toma looked at him oddly, wondering why he didn't respond. "Huh? What's wrong?" She asked as he shook his head. When he still didn't speak, she wondered if perhaps he couldn't? Or maybe he was on one of those protests'paths of enlightenment' and had vowed not to speak? Whatever the reason, she shrugged and watched his face grow into one of concentration.
"Well, I'm going to assume you can't speak?" She asked, cocking her ehad as well at his expression. "What are you doing?" She asked, looking around. "Is there something on me?" She looked over her body; nothing but the usual blindingly bright markings.

The look of concentration left his face as she figured out that he couldn't speak. Grinning at her, he nodded to show that she had gotten it right. Blinking again, he wondered how to ask her what she was up to. Lifting his right paw, he pointed it at her, hoping she'd understand.

Toma found this mute lion rather charming in a way, and she smiled as he pointed at her. "Me? Um... I'm Toma." She said, wondering if he was asking for her name. "I'd ask for your name, but for onvious reasons I won't bother." She said with a chuckle.

Kijito grinned at Toma. Glad that she had understood what he had wanted. That was something he had always worried about, that no one would understand him. His family didn't, hence why he had left the lands for a bit. However now that he was back he hoped that they would understand him better. Flicking his tail idily, Kijito swung at a nearby bone playfully.

Toma chuckled once more, smiling at this seemingly over-grown cub. She wasn't sure what to do now though; indeed it was her first time meeting a mute. She continued to open her mouth to speak, but closed it again when she relaized all her questions required answers he couldn't give. With a shake of her bright yellow bangs, she watched him play with the elephant bone and grinned. "Are you hungry?"

Kijito looked up from the bone, nodding lightly. He was a bit hungry. Deeming this hyena trust worthy, Kijito rose to his feet, ready to follow her to food. That would look rather odd, a hynea and a adult male lion being civil.

Toma grinned and lead him away from the elephant bones, walking with a bounce in her step towards the large skulls of elephants nearby. Peering inside one, she pulled out the body of a hare, obviously freeshly killed. She tossed it over to the lion, smiling happily.

Catching the rabbit, Kijito grasped it between his strong jaws. Biting down hard, he severed the rabbit in half. Offering up the other half to the hyena, as he knew how food could easily be short in the graveyard.

Toma smiled kindly at him and accepted the rabbit, pulling it towards her. "You are very kind. I have yet to meet many that have such a kind soul." She said solemnly, abesntmindedly rubbing at her neck with one of her paws. She pushed some inner thoughts aside and joined him enjoying the meal, eating at the small amount of flesh quickly as she racked her brain to try and find something to discuss.
Thinking only of questions that had a 'yes' or 'no' answer was more difficult than it seemed, to her dismay. "Hmmm... What can we talk about then?" She asked, thinking of questions and how to form them properly. "Do you live near here?" She finally asked, thinking it was the easiest question to start with.

Kijito nodded lightly. Yes he lived nearby. Taking in his surroundings, he noticed how late it was getting. Stepping away, he looked towards Priderock. Knowing he should be getting back soon. In a moment of emotion, Kijito nuzzled the hyena in thanks before bounding off towards his home.

Toma was rather shocked by the sudden nuzzle and departure of the mute lion, but she smiled warmly as he vanished beyond the rocks. Shaking her head a little she continued to pick at the meal below her, wondering if she would ever again encounter the silent sweety.
