As the comment seemed to change into the next subject, Leith sighed softly and shook his head. What did it take to get the wolfess to actually realize what potential she had? How breathtaking she actually was? Wrinkling his muzzle, the white and gold swirled decided to, for now, play by her rules.
Maybe he'd be able to truly make her see or accidently slide in a compliment again, at least when she wasn't expecting it.
"You and your brother found this place? It's- stunning! I've always wanted to find a quite place and somewhere with alot of rivers and water sources and someplace tranquil." His two toned eyes wandered as well, his maw gaping slightly open as he stared up towards the skies and let his eyes trail towards the tall pines, looking as if they could scrape the skies, and towards the mountains far in the distance.
Leaning slightly into the wolfess, Leith smirked.
"So, are there hideaways or serects about this place that you're not telling me?"

Yes, tranquil, secluded... Marissa quite enjoyed how open the lands here were, as opposed to the abundance of trees and the crowded feeling of the Western lands of her birth. She wished, almost, that they could have found this place when they were pups instead, the games they could have had! There were in fact, many, many places one could hide here. Logs, crevices and caverns along the rock wall, bushes, burrows and naturally formed, cresting hills where one might presume that landslides of old had created dirt pile ups, and grass grew in healthy doses now.
She gave the slightest jolt as his body leaned into hers, and her gaze found him somewhat closer still than she expected. She found herself gazing into his green eye first, then both green and blue. It was fascinating to her that one could have two different eye colors, like her brother Conan-- who also had one green and one blue orb.
"Se-secrets? Oh, no! But there are a lot of hiding places." She confirmed, looking away sheepishly, clearly so. She enjoyed being close to others, but Leith's warmth in particularl she felt like she could just melt into. If only she could make herself smaller, she'd hide away in that pelt of white and gold. He complimented her far too much, when really the praise should have been his. He was a fascinating tapestry of swirls unlike anything she'd ever seen in nature before. They even had a common color-- the white, which, silly as it may be, made her feel closer to him.

He didn't react much as she seemed to find that he was leaning into her. Hoping not to push too far into her personal boundary and still having yet to know her tolerance level, the white and gold swirled male smiled.
"Hiding places? If only Darius and I could have found a place like this when we were younger! Now we would have had a real adventure," he chuckled softly as he grinned, looking towards her with softened eyes and as the feeling persisting to bubble within him and seemed to never cease as long as he was with her. He didn't want them too- was this the thing that Darius always talked about?
Was this-
Love?
Such a fragile and mysterious thing, love was. Though he knew alot about it since his brother spoke so highly of it, it was uncertain if it was really happening for him or if Marissa was feeling the same thing as he was.
"Do you- I mean, do you ever feel like your heart is racing so fast that you can't think straight? Like your tounge is tied and you feel such- such strange but exciting emotions unlike anything before and you just want the feeling to stay with you?"

Tongue tied... no, but heart racing? Yes, certainly so. Each compliment, each glance, this close proximity, it felt like she'd swallowed a hoard of live butterflies and they were all taking wild flight in the pit of her gut. It made her uncertain, but she also felt locked in place, like she just couldn't will her paws to move.
She had seen it in Thayne and Tony, love in what seemed it's purest form. Perhaps the signs of a hopeless romantic, Marissa couldn't help but sigh wistfully as she watched the beta and his mate roaming the territory, in recent weeks with him fussing a bit over her with her condition. She knew that recently their first litter had been born, she just hadn't wanted to bother them just yet. It was heartwarming to watch them interacting together though, and maybe a bit childishly she wished for something like that for herself. What must it feel like to have someone so devoted, so completely dedicated that almost every moment together was spent doting upon one another and just enjoying each other's company? To have someone you could completely be yourself with and be utterly at ease around? It was a little scary to realize that she felt that way towards this male that she'd just met. She hoped it wasn't infatuation. Did love really come that easily?
"I don't know, but it feels strange." She began, eyes expressing confusion, a simple naiveity that came with inexperience. "I... We only just met, I know, but, I feel so at ease around you like I've known you my entire life... It's....... it's a little scary..............." Her ears eased flat again, voice tiny as she questioned, half hopeful, half nervous. "... Do you?"

Love.
It was something that the white and gold swirled male had longed to have for so long. Watching his father, Damu, present his mother with thoughtful and sweet gifts of her favorite flowers and onlooking as he strolled with her through the woods, whispering secrets, laughing and running off with her when they needed to have some time together. Leith wanted to know how it felt to not have to search for a companion, to devote his whole soul into a relationship and finding countless ways to surprise and love his mate. But was this really love? Or was this his deep desires taking advantage of something so precious and making it surreal?
No- he knew it. He knew it with all of his heart.
"I know..." he chuckled softly, a slight blush once again rushing upon his cheeks, "it feels like you've been apart of me or that we've just been waiting to finally meet one another. It's...its incredible."
Nestling closer beside her, Leith gave a warm, sweet smile. "I feel it. You can think me crazy, but I've fallen head over paws for you."

Marissa smiled, the expression small and shy, but genuine. They should maybe take things slow, but, though logic argued such, her heart, her feelings, her instincts said otherwise.
"Leith..."
She sounded happy by his confession, shifting to crane her neck forward enough to tuck her head under his chin, ears smoothing to her skull with a happy keen.

"Mari," he softly spoke in a soothing, hushed voice as he closed the distance between them. As she nestled her head underneath his chin, leith's heart pattered faster within his chest, feeling as if, soon, it would bust from out of his chest cavity and out into the open. He buried his muzzle within her ruff of fur, intaking her luscious scent which caused his senses to run wild and unruly within him. Nuzzling against her and trailing his maw until they were nose to nose, the white and gold swirled male smiled warmly. "I want to spend the rest of my life with you and only you."
A calm rumble sounded from his throat while his tail thumped merrily behind him. This newfound strength and sensation coursed through his wolfish veins with such great ferocity and voraciousness that he couldn't help but feel the need to stay by her, to feel her warmth against his fur and give everything to her.
This was love. But the waters had yet to fully be tested and its depth still required to be excavated.
Leith couldn't deny it nor hold back from displaying such emotions.
"I want to be near you, I want to wake up beside you and feel your warmth against my body. I can't bear the thought of not being with you." Pressing his forehead against hers as he closed his eyes, the white and gold swirled male slowly manuevered his head lower towards her lips but grew hesitant for a moment.
Should he really rush like this? He didn't want to scare her or chase her away. Leith needed to take it slow.
"You're the only one who'd actually knows me for who I really am even though we've only just met," he commented softly, pressing his nose against hers as a warm, tender smile spread wide across his maw.

The hours of the day seemed to pass as the early afternoon had become the evening. Within the heavens above, the full moon had taken its rightful place amongst the deep blue sky and the scattered stars. A gentle breeze whisped about, causing the lakes glassy surface to tremble although without having to sacrifice it's reflection.
Several feet away from the shore, the two wolves huddled close- nestled together as the spectacle of watching the countless fireflies adorn the sky above the lake seemed enchanting and, to Leith, a sight that one had rarely ever had the chance to marvel or witness. The night brought wondermnet as natures own symphony of crickets, the whispering of the wind and the sound of the lake rolling upon the shore seemed to set a relaxing and pleasent mood for both Leith and Marissa.
Nestled side to side, the white and gold swirled male turned towards the wolfess and grinned.
"Have you ever seen such a sight? I've never felt so...relaxed like this before. Is this what you and your brother always watched at night?"
