In what he'd learned of hunting, blending into your surroundings was a key aspect of it. You had to be silent, invisible, untracable.. no matter what, you couldn't be seen. If the prey saw you, it got away, which wasn't good. It wasn't good at all.
Of course, for a bright lilac lion, the concept of 'blending in' was quite difficult to grasp. Even as he hid in the tall grasses, following after a small bird, Sukari stood out like a sore thumb. Keeping himself low, he pressed toward the creature, tail twitching in anticipation. He kept at alert, ears pricked for signs of life, when a laughing caw rang out.
Really, he's giving it a good effort, but.. the poor boy is PURPLE! That's not frightening at all! Taken aback, Sukari frowned at their conversation. It didn't matter what color you were, right? You could be anything, if you tried hard enough! Adjusting himself slightly, and keeping the serious face, Sukari strolled out cooly to the birds.
"T..That's not very nice, you know! My fur is very pretty, and I like it just fine!" He squeaked angrilly, unable to take an intimidating tone. In response, he recieved several confused stares, followed by the same cawing laughter.
Slinking back to his hiding spot, Sukari decided that he didn't like birds very much. He WAS a good hunter. Really!

Verdad had been resting quietly, tail rested lightly on her paws. Since her attack, she had become much more mellow, only sneaking out on occasion to find water. Butterflies were secondary now in her seach. Every thing seemed so distant to her. She was still the sweet and naive lioness but, at the same time, she never would be that cub again.
Only a flicker of the Verdad everyone really remembered showed in her memory. The running that she still enjoyed every so often that would send her home with bloody paws and stiff legs. The bright green eyes that sparkled whenever she found something new and exciting.
Her tail fidgeted as those images came and went accompanied by that wonderfully bubbly giggle that see was known from. Finally, the image of blue caught her mind and she woke with a start, panting softly ad her ears pinned against her head. "Just a dream..." The chuckled came back even if it was weaker than before. With that, her leaner, longer body raised itself from the rock. Bone cracked as she stretched out over her resting spot. Now to see if anyone else was around to entertain.

Absorbed in his own thoughts, Sukari hadn't noticed the nearby lioness until she had moved. He whirled around to see the larger lioness on the rock, and watched her movements very curiously. Something about a dream, from what she was saying. Wondering what she was doing exactly, he pressed closer to the other. It was another lioness he hadn't met before; something he seemed to be finding a lot of lately. Well, hey. The more friends you made, the better, right? He finally pressed to the edge of the grasses hopping up as he called.
"Hi! I'm Sukari!" He started, chirping as happily as ever. Pushing himself out of the grass fully, he sat in front of the rock, looking up with a grin. "What'cha doing?" Sukari asked curiously, the bird incident pushed to the back of his mind. More importantly than birds, he had someone to play with now! That was better than some stupid old birds any day!

Verdad had been contemplating her way for a moment when another voice caught her attention. The lioness sprang up,looking around for anything until she settled on the lavender colored cup. The fur on her neck instantly smoothed and her features softened to a smile. Nothing to worry about at all. She giggled for the first time in awhile, leaning over the rock to get a closer look at the young cub.
"Sukari? That's a cute name." The smile on her maw widened as she dropped back down to her stomach, dangling her paws over the edge. "I'm just resting out here in the sun looking for something to do."
Her tail flicked in excitement and curiousity. The orange lioness was older now and her cub days were over. It was odd to look down at someone especially since her best friend was that blue monster of a cub. The thoughts of the good old days drew a contented sigh from her. "What'cha doin all the way out here and away from your Mamma?" It wasn't anything new to her. She had done it many times at his age.

"Thank you!" He said proudly, puffing up happily at the compliment to his name. It was a really good name, Sukari! He liked it, and so did the lioness, so this was all good! Adjusting himself to try and sit more regally, he looked up to her.
"I bet your name's nice, too." Sukari added, even if he was quite unsure of what the lionesses name was at all. A compliment was a compliment though, and everybody liked them! At least, he thought so. Maybe some people didn't like compliments.
At the question of what he was doing away from home, Sukari beamed pridely, bouncing as he told the story.
"I'm out huntin' for butterflies! They're my friends, y'know. And, I was figurin', there's some good flowers out here, so the butterflies gotta be out here, too!"

He certainly was a bouncy little thing. Of course, it was easier to understand since she herself had just grown out of that sweet and bubbly attitude. It had been so long since she'd actually conversed with anyone without strings attached or dumbing herself out of hunting.
Needless to say, it was a pleasant chnage.
"My name's Verdad." Her paws crossed over themselves as she bent over the rock. Her tail flicked against her flank as she stretched, feeling the bones in her crack with a soft yet welcome sound.
"I used to chase butterflies all the time. It was my absolute favorite thing to do." She looked around her, green eyes darting left and right. It wouldn't be a bad thing would it? She leaned down close to the little cub, smiling widely. "Mind if I join you?"

Verdad certainly was a pretty name! Giggling excitedly, Sukari nodded at her offer.
"Of course, of course! I'd love to have some company when I hunt for the butterflies! They like meeting my friends, I think. Just like I like meeting theirs!" Well, everybody liked making new friends, so it was good! 'Cause when you met your friends' friends, they became your friends, too! ..Right?
Pausing a moment, Sukari looked back up to Verdad. Was she his friend, then? Or did she even consider him as one? Might as well ask!
"Then, does that mean we're friends?" He certainly hoped they were. Sukari needed more friends, especially ones closer to his age. Yes, he'd met the lioness, but.. Verdad was much closer to his age! And she liked butterflies, too! And that was a good quality to find in a friend.

Verdad chuckled, sliding down and off the rock with ease. At least she would get some exercise in stead of moping around all day wondering if there was anyone she could play with. Eh. She had grown older but she wasn't old enough to just sit around quietly like the adults. At least, she didn't think she wanted to.
"Well then, I'd be happy to tale you with me now that we're friends. Her smile grew wider as she looked down at the little cub. It was quite different than talking with her mother and brother all the time. "Where would you like to go look for these butterflies. They're pesky little creatures I tell you."

Making some sort of noise caught between an excited chirp and squeal, Sukari bounced to stand by Verdad's side, looking around the area excitedly. She was his friend, and she wanted to meet his butterflies! Oh, this day couldn't possibly be any better!
"Hmm!" Sukari hummed outloud, as if to make sure Verdad KNEW he was thinking heavily. Scrunching his nose a bit, Sukari looked around the area, and decided exactly where he wanted to go. It was the perfect spot, really! The butterflies had to love it there!
"Tall grasses!" Came his reply, as Sukari bound off in the direction of a particularly tall field he knew of. Or, rather, was tall to him, anyway. Turning back to Verdad, he grinned.
"I KNOW this is where they're going to be!"

Verdad followed after the little cub, taking care not to let him out of her sight. "Oh yes. Tall grass. That's exactly where they'd be." Her tail swished in temptation. She wanted to chase butterflies but he was the cub. He was the one to catch them.
Green eyes darted around her to catch any form of movement. Friendly or hostile. Sukari felt like her responsibility now a she saw it.
The orange lioness bent down to the little cub to whisper under her breath. "Do you see any yet?"

"Exactly! See, they think they can hide, and be all clever," he whispered, crouched low and wiggling in excitement, "but they're not! 'Cause I'm smarter than them!" Hesitating a moment, he turned back to Verdad and grinned. "Don't tell 'em that, though. They'll get their feelings hurt!"
Whipping back, Sukari allowed himself to tense, then flailed out in an attempt to pounce into the tall grasses. This resulted in a SHLUMP of the grasses parting under Sukari, and the little lion mostly disappearing. Even through the thickness of the grass, his bright purple fur could still be seen, shuffling about in a circular pattern.
"Can you see 'em yet?" He shouted, unaware if Verdad could hear him through the grass or not. "Tell me if you see any of them! I'm scaring them out for you!"
