i have a friend who refuses to watch invader zim! everyone but him has seen it and , of course, quotes it. so his excuse is that because everyone quotes it all the time he hates the show. ive tried telling him that if he'd watch it hed understand the quotes and probably like it.

Ok I here is what you should do
One: Kidnap him
Two: drug him and make him fall asleep
Three: Tie him to a chair and tape his eyes open
Four: make him watch all of the episodes in DvD 1-2
Five: Uh make sandwitches

I concur. My favorite part was the sandwiches... Speaking of which I need breakfast (Probably should have taken care of that before noon...).

I get how you feel. I have a good friend who hates the show, all except for the guy getting his car squished in "Invasion of the Idiot Dog Brain". I have no idea why she doesn't like the show, since she likes JTHM and Squee, and a lot of the jokes seem to correspond to her sense of humor. No accounting for taste I guess.
But really, the thing to do is to not hassle them about it. People have different tastes. Not liking a TV show doesn't necessarily mean that they don't want to be your friend.
But the sandwich thing...make them anyways. Sandwiches are good...

Try an episode that's not Zim-heavy. If it's the show itself that he doesn't want to watch, you can't really force him. Well, you could, but he still won't like it, and he might stop liking you. So your options aren't many.
I suggest letting him watch one or two of your favorite episodes, or maybe one of the ones with few well-known quotes in it. Gir is loved by many, even people who don't know or watch the show, so he's very quoteable. So are quotes that are on t shirts and the like. Good luck, though. Zim is a great show!
