Siri clutched Daemon's back and suppressed the urge to squeak when he started to kneel. She... she hadn't meant right now! Siri flattened her ears and tucked her tail beneath her. It might not be moving now but who knew? Maybe once she stepped into it...
The youngster shook her head. She wouldn't be a coward!
Silly girl! You've fought off monsters and saved the pride with Cam! Swimming and fighting water monsters won't be any scarier.
Of course, that was easier said than done...
Cautiously, Siri released her grip on Daemon's back and slid off, landing with a splash in the shallows of the water hole. For a moment panic blinded her, and she opened her mouth to shout for help! --
-- and then her toes brushed the bottom and found purchase.
"... Oh." The cub stood stock still for a moment, the carefully raised one paw and splashed it back down into the water.
Nothing happened.
"Oh!" Siri grinned up at Daemon. "Is this swimming?"

Daemon chuckled as Siri slid into the water and seemed to test it by splashing the water with her paw. "Not exactly Siri, no," he said walking around in the shallows, showing her that it was alright and there was nothing to be worried about. "When you can touch the bottom, and can walk around, thats not nearly swimming, yet, but its good to do, to get a feel for it," he said with a nod. Stopping, letting the water ripple to nothingness before he continued.
"To swim your paws can't be touching the bottom, and you push and swing your paws an legs through the water, bringing yourself from the bottom, and forward, its like pawing at air, but in water, you move...like this," he went a bit deeper and swam around a bit for example, then went to where he could step again. "You can try right here," he said, pointing his paw to right in front of him, he was deeper in then her of course, "I'll watch you, you don't have to worry Siri...I'll be right here..."

"Not touching the bottom?!" Siri stared at Daemon in horror as he paddled across the water hole. Wasn't that just what the water monsters wanted!
No way.
Nu-uh.
... "Are you suuure?" Daemon was big. He was dangerous. The water might not go after him, cuz it knew he would hurt it. But she was just a little girl! ... a strong, brave little girl, but still! There was only so much you could do.
Lines had to be drawn, and Siri was afraid she'd reached hers.
"I... think I like the shallow water better." She stepped cautiously, feeling her way across the smooth, muddy bottom. Personally, she though this should count as swimming! She was moving in the water, wasn't she?

Daemon chuckled and walked closer to her, his back now exposed and dripping from the water, but it was cool as the sun beat down on them. "Yes, not touching the bottom, its alright Siri, you don't have to go to like, the middle of the waterhole today, or ever if you don't want to," he said with a nod, stepping closer, his paws sifting through the mud. That would be rather bothersome to clean later...darn.
"Yes I'm sure Siri, it'll be good for you to know how to stay afloat if, heaven forbid, that you ever fall into water, and need to swim, here's its calm Siri, you'll be alright," he said with a nod, some droplets of water falling off of his white mane.
She liked the shallow water better? He sighed, but kept his smile on his face, "Want me to help you? Hold you up a bit in it?" he offered. His paws were large enough for it, and he could tuck his paw under her belly and her her keep afloat as she got used to moving her legs.
She had to try, he wanted her to try.

"NONONO." Siri backed away from Daemon, ears flat and tail close to her body. No way. If they both went in, the water could get them together! But maybe... maybe if she went in alone, and he saw how dangerous the water -really- was, he could get away...
"I can do it." Siri risked a frightened glance towards the deeper, darker water, then quickly jerked her gaze to the sky. She could just... feel her way along. And then when the ground was gone, she would - do something.
The water inched its way up - belly, shoulder, neck...
... nose, EYES --
And then the ground was just gone. Her toes strained towards the bottom she knew was there, but she couldn't find it and keep her head above the water at the same time. Whimpering with panic, she paddled frantically, splashing water in her face more often than not.
"Eee. Eee. Eee. Eee." Siri panted and choked and fought down panic and --
And swam.

"Alright, alright, you try then..." he stepped back from her and watched her. Though he'd keep an eye on her, he didn't need her falling under the waters surface and traumatize her even more,t hat wouldn't be good, not at all. So he stood back, waited, and watched intently, he planned to snatch her up if anything bad started to happen.
Siri was a close friend of his...he'd protect her here, no matter what.
As she started inching in, water rising on hte place of her body, he got a bit nervous watching her. When she started to flail and squeak, he took a few steps forward, almost splashing by accident, but she was hovering over the mud, splashing but...she was,
"Swimming, see Siri? You're swimming!" he said with a smile upon his face as he watched her on her own.
He knew she could do it.

"I can! I can! I --"
The rest of her cries were drowned out (literally) as she sputtered and coughed on a mouthful of water. Her elation didn't dim in the least, however, and when she made it back to Daemon her face was positively glowing.
"I did it! I swam! The water didn't catch me!" She grinned, then leaned in close. "I'm to fast, you know."
Giggling the cub bounded up and down the muddy banks, sending water and mud flying from beneath her paws. No fear! It felt great! Her fur dried quickly in the hot air, so when she finally collapsed exhausted on the grass, her coat was her normal, vivid purple.
"Thanks, Daemon!" She cried, beaming up at him.

Daemon smiled warmly at her, eyes softened, a chuckle escaped him, " I told you that you could, did you doubt me Siri? Well now...we'll have to work on that next, doubting a friend eh?" he said with a raised brow, playing a joke of course and splashing a bit of water her way. He walked from the water while watching her run back and forth, chuckling he settled himself down, letting the mud dry, he'd chip away at it later.
"Of course you're too fast, you'll get faster too ya know," he smiled, continued to watch her and felt a bit of satisfaction. Alright, so he wasn't too bad with those younger then him, then again, with friends like Siri, what was there to worry about anyway? She was a strong kid, that he knew.
He smiled down at her, him still being much taller, and rubbed his paw on the top of her head, "No problem Siri, I'm sure any obstacle you face, you'll be able to get through with ease now..."
Yes, that he was sure of.
