Whee, what a fun subject xd

The Sugar Pixie's List of Hilarious (But oh-so-untrue) stereotypes!!

1. Pagans know/believe that they're going to Hell, and like it.

2. Pagans hate God.

3. You have to dance around a May Pole naked to be Pagan.

4. The cross will scare away your average Pagan--if no metal cross is available, two crossed fingers will be sufficient. (Yes, that's been tried on me...)

5. Pagans will turn you into a frog if you stand too close.

6. At night, Pagans try to turn into goats.

7. All Pagans want to kill themselves for spiritual purposes.

8. Pagans are the way they are because they don't know any better. The solution to this, is to read quotes from the Bible at them every time they pass.

9. If you convince the Pagan to take off their black eyeliner, they'll suddenly be Christian.

More to come as I remember them.. xd

Not sure if this will help... it's a very pleasantly unexpected reaction! I was stopped in the street by a missionary from the Church of Mormon a few months ago. I told him that I'm a Pagan, though I have been to the Church before and loved the people there. We then had a really nice chat about religion and he seemed genuinly interested in my beliefs! He even shook my hand when he said goodbye 3nodding Lovely person!! It's great to see that there are people who are devout in their religion but can accept people who believe differently. He didn't try to push me into going to the Church or converting or anything, it was such a great experience to feel accepted like that by someone I half expected to dislike me! I love the Church of Mormon here, although I don't share their beliefs all the people there are really lovely (I went with my ex for a year or so) and it's a really nice community. God bless them all!

*points* Very true!!! I got a second job about a month ago, working for this guy that knows my grandmother. Well, as soon as I walked into his office I know he was a completely devoted Christian: the Ten Commandments were on about three posters around his office, the Holy Prayer (I forgot what it was called) was on two other posters, there were little Jesus and Religious trinkets all over the place that said stuff like "Remember Jesus loves you!" , etc... Well, it didn't really bother me that much, but then I started working for him and he absolutely loved me (My work ethic, the kind of job I do, how well I learned, all that good stuff) and said he was proud of me so many times I was almost creeped out stressed Well, the praise was great, but I always couldn't help feeling like he wouldn't like me so much if he knew I was Pagan (every other Christian in this town who's learned that I'm not Christian has treated me like the plague).

Well anyway, we were taking a machine to a person (we sell air purifiers and deliver them to people) that lived about a 20 minute's drive away, and we talked about a bunch of things, when he asked what denomination I was... Well, I ended up explaining, as well as I could to a half-deaf man with no hearing aid in a car who'd never even heard of Paganism or Wicca, and he was like "Well that's not so bad, I just think that everyone needs somethin' to believe in, and as long as it keeps you goin' it's good."

And I was like "...... eek " lol, It was great.

That is great! I think sometimes we all need to remember to have faith in other people, to believe that they can accept us. It's far too easy to presume that we'll get discriminated against for religion, whatever beliefs we follow, and project that reality outwards. If we don't try, we'll never find these wonderful people who accept everyone no matter how different from themselves!

*points* there we got an important point!!!
as u said nanooki, we sometime think that other people won't accept us but when they find out...woa!!! they're the must comprehensive people ion the world!! ((At least at my highschool!!! 90% of the people who know i'm a pagan accept and love me, the other 10%....well..that's a WHOLE different story isnt it? lol))
wel...
any ways..
thnks everybody1!
for helping me with your stories!! ((i'll use them as examples in my monograph... if u dont mind of course)))
wel...
have to go...a REALLY long math lab is waiting fo rme TToTT
well..bye!!
and take care everybody!
