I still sort of wonder why everybody's pitching a fit over "gaiacash-only items" as if they'd never heard of spending real-world money to get special items on this site.

I b***h about things in my spare time. I was told to get a hobby.

It was my understanding that these "Gaia cash only" items would be attainable through "Gaia cash only" games and features. It's one thing to pay real money for items when plenty of people are more than willing to turn around and sell them for gold. It's another when you aren't allowed to participate in parts of the site because you won't give Gaia more money.

And if this is alluding to the battle system (which I have an ill feeling it is), there is going to be hell to pay. You don't tell someone for 4 years that the "battle system is coming soon" and for five years that "we'll never be a pay site" and then turn around and charge for the feauture everyone has been waiting for. That is just seriously ******** up.

And stupid, because, this is the Internet, these are forums. And bitching, complaining, and moaning is what is done best here. And we're not even part of the dumb, stupid, ignorant mob either. I think that we'd need to go around hugging quite a few mods should that make that decisions.

I like how Gaia is slowly turning pay to play... considering the whole "optional" thing involving Gaia cash... which just means if you can't do this then you're missing out because you're poor (or for the kiddos your parents think you're psycho for giving cash to Gaia). biggrin

PAY SITE PAY SITE PAY SITE.

I don't care how many MMO's claim they're free. the best items and weapons always had to be paid for with real money.

Oh gaia i've become so disillusioned.

But it just amazes me how much money people actually spend on a website like this! It's insane. =O

I don't think the amount of monthly items a person wears determines how much they've sent in to the site. At all.

For all you know, he could have bought those with gold when they were cheap, not sent in money for them. Then again, he might have. But just because someone is wearing them doesn't mean they paid real money to get them.

Money was required for them, regardless of it being from his own wallet or someone elses.

I'm not exactly sure what point you're trying to make here. Yes, money was required for them, but if it wasn't his money then where's the hypocrisy in him wearing the items?

If someone who donated $20 a month every month said "It baffles me how someone could spend so much money on pixels", then I could see bringing it up. But I just don't see how the statement is relevant if someone is wearing the items, but didn't send in their own money.

The original point was everyone was complaining about it being a "pay site". Yet no one has any qualms wearing stuff that were payed for. Or using the servers that are supported by the payment.

Sorry, I might be just confusing you right now. I'm running on half a mind right now. I'm looking forward to other things in the week, so I'm slightly distracted.

I don't think anyone has a problem with the OPTIONAL payment of donations (or at this point, purchasing monthly collectibles), because it's exactly that. Optional. Yes, you're rewarded for your contribution, but the reward is something that other people have access to even if they don't pay Gaia.

However, Gaia has been promising since the start that no part of the site will be pay to play/premium. There won't be anything that's only available if you pay up. This "Gaia cash only items" business is what most people have a problem with. Not that you can buy items with real money.

I'm still not seeing your point, though. There's absolutely nothing hypocritical about wearing the items and using the servers while also saying that it's silly to pay real money for pixels. If they didn't send their own money in for those pixels, but rather purchased them from someone else using gold then they've not gone against what they've said. And if Gaia has always provided the site for free and promised that it will always be that way then everyone has the right to be upset if that changes.

I do recall them saying that you can redeem codes on the IDs you get from going to conventions Gaia staff will be at to also earn GCash.

rolleyes You do realize less than 1% of Gaians can make it to those cons? Also, the amount is probably something like the promotional 25 cash we all already got - probably not enough to do jack.

Just give it up. You're floundering.

I'm also running on no sleep. Haven't slept in a week. Right now, you look your hair is on fire.

I think it would be more than just 25 though. Maybe when they release the price for buying MCs or promo items with GCash we'll get a grasp on the usefulness of the GCash.

Whatever. Just ignore this. I'm due for watching my ceiling fan slowly trying to kill me anyways.
