Warning: I'm pretty pissed about this so odds are this may be disjointed and full of profanity.
So my car is ********. Royally.
The story goes like this: I got home late last night after having to close the store and my roommate needed to take my car to head up to where his spouse and kids are, about 300km north and east of where I live. OK. I knew he needed to borrow the car, that's no problem with me. I stayed home with Willowbark and our kids and he went on his merry way.
About 3/4 of the way there an accident occurred, where the steering wheel stopped responding. He managed to slow down considerably but still rammed into the back of a truck that was in front of him. How he still ******** managed that on a highway I don't know, but he has a tendency to speed by a drastic margin.
Thankfully no one was injured in any fashion. Of course this was the first concern, but since everyone is ok I immediately got pissed about my car.
Needless to say, my car now resembles the discarded bag off a wino's liquor bottle. Totally ******** by the sounds of it as it crumpled up. I just finished spending over $700 in fixing the ******** up, and now this s**t happens.
Willowbark's mother is letting me borrow her car for a few weeks while I go through tons of red tape for my damned insurance claim, which will probably take a bloody month to go through. Which will possibly leave me with no car for a few weeks.
With any luck, said roommate can fix his truck and I can take that, but it'll use an enormous amount of gas so my gas bill each month will be through the roof, or I get up at ******** 4am to catch a ride with him when he goes to his job, get dropped off at a 24 hour donut shop and sit there for ******** 5 hours before going to work.
I'm not bloody happy right now.

That sucks, man sad
Wtf happened to the steering wheel? I mean, how did that happen!?! sad
Bleh, that really bites, dude! Maybe after you figure out the insurance thing you can grab a really cheap car off craigslist? An old corolla, or dodge colt you can get for a thousand or less. Would be good for at least the remaining year or some such!

We're not too sure what went wrong. Odds are we won't know as the front end is destroyed.
We just have to wait and see what develops and go from there. Willowbark and I might just go for something newer and put it on monthly payments. Maybe 2000 or so.
The main thing is no one got hurt, and it's really nothing more than a piss off. I liked my car... crying

Oh man, this really sucks. I never heard of a steering wheel stop responding. I mean, does that make any sense? I think your roomie should get you a replacement car.

I don't understand it myself. I go to claim insurance tomorrow and see what happens from there before I let myself get worried. The last thing I want to start doing is having panic attacks again.
At worst there will be a $700 deductible off of whatever they say my car is worth.
At least Willowbark and I have a good reason to look at getting a newer car now, heheh.

I never really heard of a stearing wheel going out, I have heard of a stearing shaft on the wheels get lose, and that be the reason for loss control of a car. *rubs my head*
I can see how it really bites you fix it and then it gets damaged again. Sorry to hear really.
I hope you both can find a better car, hopefully something that you can get for cheep, but still be drivable.

Well, we should be able to put the claim in on insurance in the next couple days. I'm hoping they pay out reasonably well, but the last time I had...issues... with a car with this insurance company it took a month to clear it up.
This is the only insurance company in my province, and it's run by the provincial government. Along with telephone, power, natural gas...
There is a boardgame my provincial government loves to play every day. It's called Monopoly. scream
So I'll probably hear about my car in a month time
