So, once again, I've waited until the last possible moment to do something. I'm trading my truck in for something that I can afford the gas. Everything was fine.. until I discovered that I'll be doing about 200 miles a week. DX
Anyways, after going to the different car lots on my own, there was only one that actually took me seriously. Like, if I don't drag my father with me, it's as if these people really don't care. OR they think I don't know anything about cars and want to give some POS flood car. >.<
The whole situation is annoying. I've always hated stereotyping.
Spoon: *Gas prices suck (even though my state is below the national average. >.>) *Gone car shopping lately? *Your take on car salesmen. *People ever thought you didn't know something because of gender, age, or whatever?

Just throw in a few little details, like they're nothing.
For instance, a guy at the Nissan dealership was talking about how he kept getting new cars. So I say "Oh, so you're getting to be upside down then."
At the Mitsubishi dealership my mother noticed that the engines were sideways, so I asked the salesman "Is this front wheel drive?"
So, just little stuff.

ToXiKdInOsAuR: You haven't been car shopping before, have you?
Macaque: I've decided to avoid the major dealerships. They can't seem to take me seriously without my father being with me and like.. he has work all day so that just leaves me on my own. As for asking questions, it'll take work since it's usually listed if it's front wheel drive and so on. sweatdrop
Plus, a lot of the questions I have can be answered by looking at the engine.

Haha, I got completely confused by the topic title! Pepper spray is illegal over here xd
Though having dealt with cars salesmen myself, I'm willing to petition for it's legal use. What I found most irritating is the way they'd judge you on first appearances, as if my jeans will show them how good I am with cars!
The worst one I've encountered started the conversation with "So you're a student? Our cheapest are over here..." Alright, so I was looking for a cheap car, but is a "hello" too much to ask?! I think he was a bit shocked when I started laughing in his face...

Yeah, I been a situation like that... Age though, Like... everyone sometimes thinks that since I'm young I can't do much or something... But that's over now, I am looking for my first car at the moment. I still need to get my driver's license too... I am so late... starting Senior Year in High School in a few days... I feel bad since I always have to grab a ride places.

Deranged Privacys What does pepper spray have to do with it? D; You've never been chased by a car salesman before, have you? Several have ran towards me while I was still driving in my car. DX I haven't been back to that lot since then.

By the title, I thought the thread would have something to do with stalkers.
I'm strangely disappointed.

I don't know much about cars. I've only got my license recently.
Actually, it might sound weird but... I don't have a problem with high gas prices. In fact, I wouldn't mind if they went up. There's a reason why they're high- we're running out and we've got to lessen gas consumption somehow. neutral
