Hey, everyone. ^^
If you've never met me before, I'm Godmail. I'm a Christian writer, and it's been one of my latest ambitions to hold a contest like this.
The deadline is August 31st September 15th.
1. No plagiarizing.
2. Be respectful.
3. Eat finger food with your hands, not a fork.
Your challenge is to write a short story (around 1,000-5,000 words) consisting of the happenings of the apocalypse. And yes, the world must come to an end; I don't want any superheros blocking meteors and saving the earth.
So, the apocalypse is happening, and your characters must be involved in it. Whether your apocalypse is a battle between Heaven and Hell; a deity accidentally blowing up the universe...whatever.
Entries must be limited to a PG level. PG13, as I've noticed, has unfortunately pushed their envelope way too far for me.
If there is cursing in your story, it must be mild. Please Do Not Blank the Curse Words. For that takes away the meaning of the cursing, and I frown upon writers who assign their characters cursing for no reason at all. Cursing is a character's expression of deep emotion and pain. Blanking the cursing, even partially, can weaken the impact on the reader so that all it means then is just a wretched word and nothing more. I don't want that.
There is no entry fee.
I'm seeking adventure (not over-the-top), significant personality in each character, and cleanliness (if that's a word--if it's not, you know what I mean).
Conflict between two deities excites me, but it is not required.
I favour no one. Remember, I judge and critique the entries, not the entrants. ^^
I will be judging your stories on grammar, flow, and creativity. If I were to beat you for one or two mistakes, I would be a hypocrite.
At the end of the contest, I will critique each story individually, so please be patient while awaiting results; it could take up to a week to judge everyone's entries depending on how many entrants I receive.
Please post your entries in this thread. One entry per person.
You may use a story which you have entered in other contests, even if it has won: my opinions aren't always the same as another's.
There is a first prize of 2,000 gold
A second prize of 1,000 gold.

Sorry.You will find a lot of christians dont support the Left Behind series simply because there's no fact to it and the movies are good but their an insult to the book. But this sounds like fun I've been looking for an excuse to write an apocolypse Side note on Left Behind: It really wouldn't work with this prose because Left Behind doesnt really focus on the rapture or any other part. It's about what life is like AFTER Christ comes back.

Well, I've come up with a plotline. Just need to confirm something:
Aside from thinking up my own deities, would going over to the Greeks's gods and goddesses be acceptable? If not then I'll have to go get another idea into the mix. sweatdrop

Alright. Thanks for the confirmation.
I probably may alter the deities involved. The elements for the Greeks and for us are different, such as carrying the sun across the sky. So perhaps it will not work out 100%. Eh, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.
