Hey all.
This was bound to come up as a conversation, because it is a step towards getting a better and spam free ED.
What are your views on opening Mod applications to all members?
I personally think it's good, but am pretty annoyed, because it's 18+ only.
God-damn ageist people...
*grumbles*

When I saw that they were taking mod applications, I can not even begin to express how happy I was... until I saw the age restriction. Whores...
However, it is a wonderful step towards cleaning up the ED. Hopefully we'll get some more local mods and global as well, so that ought to help reduce the spam in the forum. Unfortunately, the ED has so many mods already, I'm not sure how many more will be added...

When I heard, I was so happy I almost exploded. Then I saw the age restriction, and I went into a spiraling pit of depression (that lasted 5 minutes).
But still, I'm happy they're getting more mods. Hopefully they'll do something about the ED. ^^

I honestly don't get the age restriction. Why do I need parental consent to delete threads and have regular background checks but not to move threads? It makes no sense.
I do think this is a good idea, though. With the regular quality checks good moderation is assured, which would make for not only an ED with less spam but for that going for the entire site.

Oh my yes! The age thing made me sad... But then the other stuff made me happy! This is good because happy is life! but anyway... It should help at least make a dent in the giant storage box of spam. ^^

As almost every one, I too was pissed at hearing the age restrictiction. Whenever I read mod profiles and see how often they log in, etc. I always notice that they are rarely on due to study, job or other important matters in their personal life, meaning that their Gaia and mod time is few and far between. Most of these people are 18+. So why not hire minors who still don't have the pressures of a job or serious studies, and can spend more time in Gaia modding?

They can't sign legal contracts and what not, plus they have to deal with things like porn, etc. But, look what happend. Inexperienced mods are given to much power...and make mistakes. And don't care. D: Kaze should be a modd....D:

I, however, was simply away from Gaia that month... stupid internet-less apartment inherited from my stupid useless "sister"... grr...
Only kinda, though. There's always next time... 'cause I'm old and the age restriction doesn't twitch me.

Will I now grow old and forget all those? Drown all sorrow, goodbye tomorrow.
