Attention all members and crew members:
Due to a recent announcement made in the Captains Guild, I'm taking an extra precautionary measure or two for a while. A moderator has informed everyone that 4chan is preparing for a raid on Gaia within the next two weeks, and that guilds, especially public ones where anyone can post without joining, may be a particularly susceptible target.
So what does this mean for us, exactly? Nothing, really, as we're already a private guild. However, in regards to this, I'm invoking a few temporary rules that apply to both normal members and members of the crew (which I shall no longer be spelling with a capital "C" wink ):
- Any invites we receive are not to be immediately accepted. Before accepting a person into the guild, please check their account to make sure they've been here for a decent amount of time (more than a month, preferably) and/or they aren't dressed like a troll (naked, hardly clothed, or otherwise).
- Normal members submitting possible users for guild invitations should follow the above method.
While it's unlikely that our guild will be targetted, I'd rather not chance it. I've been to other internet forums that have gotten raided by SomethingAwful, 4chan, Encyclopedia Dramatica, and many other idiotic internet breeding ground sites, all because they weren't prepared for it; needless to say, the results weren't pretty.
Just a heads-up 3nodding .
