Hello and welcome to the second Guild newsletter. I figured a fair bit's been going on lately, so it was time for... another newsletter!
Here's what's been going on in the Guild:
Non-Competitive Writing Sub-Forum
There is now a sub-forum for non-competitive writing, showcasing and critique. That's where you go to show off, or ask for help with your writing. There's a seperate set of rules for there, you can find them stickied at the top of the sub-forum, so please red them before posting.
Also, as Imaginary Illusion has pointed out, posting one's work on the internet where it can be publicly accessed counts as self-publishing, and may harm your chances of getting your work published. If you want to have critique for something you intend to publish, please do so by PM, but feel free to use the new sub-forum to ask for voulenteers to critique for you.
New rules about donating to the Guild
Some of you are donating to individual contests, but I'm also getting a lot of donations to the guild itsself. I've posted a copy of these new rules very noticably on the homepage, but please make a note of them.
Money donated directly to the Guold account can only be spent on subforums and there is no way to access it otherwise, and we have as many sub-forums as we need, and can afford more if we want to expand. Send your money to me if you want to donate, and I'll use it as contest funds (and I'll also let you know where the money's gone so you know I'm not robbing you). It's a waste of money to donate if the gold can't be used where it's really needed, so this'll be a great help to everyone who's running contests out of their own contests.
New "Suggestions" thread in General forum
There is a new thread in the General forum for suggestions to improve the Guild. If you have any ideas, post them there and I'll check it on a reular basis. I've already had some great ideas scattered around the forum, it's about time they were organized.
Competitions being run at the moment
Annetia's one-word prompts competition (prose)
You are given one word as a prompt, you produce a peice of writing based on that prompt. 100 gold entry fee, 1200 gold first prize, 600 gold second prize. Not generating much interest, advertise, people! Please enter!
Zenai_Metos's mascot suggestions
Zenai, supplier of all my wonderful banners, is taking suggestions for a Guild mascot, as well as giving out the codes for our banners and taking suggestions for others. (I'm starting to think of him as Head of Banners at the Guild).
Marael's poetry contest (poetry)
You are supplied with some pictures, you must write a poem about that picture. 50 gold entry fee, 800 gold first prize, 500 gold second prize, 200 gold third prize, 50 gold for an honorable mention.
All You Need Is Love (poetry)
Write a love poem with a minimum 20 words, the subject must be human. You're not allowed to post the poem before 12:00 (London) 4th August. 50 gold entry fee, 1,500 gold first prize.

You must write a poem between 12 and 30 lines, wich must include the word broken. 1000 gold first prize, 500 gold second prize, no entry fee.

Annetia's Weekly Paragraph Competition (prose)
I give you a sentence, you write the rest of the paragraph. No fee, 1000 gold first prize, 500 gold second prize, also honorable mentions.
