The dark and bright green patterned dress definitely looked good on her. The fact that the sleeves were of the arm sock variety and she could choose to wear them or not depending on the weather helped. Ash must have found out somehow that Haisyn was inordinately fond of these pretty, simply cut dresses and arm socks. Though even Verran hadn't realized she actually liked to wear them... after someone managed to get her in one. But she absolutely HATED frilly clothes, so it had to be something plain cut like this or she'd burn it and walk around naked rather be subject to wearing it.
She'd even managed to tame her unruly hair and curled it and put on some silver jewelry so the mismatched silver with green tips blended in rather well. Her green-gold eyes definitely looked more green in this getup, too. All in all... she actually felt pretty, and that was a very unusual feeling for her. It implied a level of normalcy in her life she'd unknowingly put off acknowledging out of an obscure fear that it would disappear if she let herself notice.
Finally Haisyn drew herself away from the shabby standing mirror in the bathroom and peeked out into the hall. She was hoping to avoid Verran, though she knew it was likely. She was feeling oddly vulnerable right now, drifting out of her comfort zone like she was. She didn't feel like getting teased.
Quietly she slipped into the front room and frowned when she realized Ash was still getting ready. The longer she had to wait the more likely she was to have a brother encounter. And sure enough... just as that thought finished Verran walked into the room. He was dressed in his usual black outfit, though it seemed less wrinkled today. He'd always been a bit of a pretty boy and watched his appearance, so it was likely that only family would notice, but there it was all the same. She was momentarily touched by the effort on Ash's behalf, but the feeling faded quickly as his quick green gaze finally registered that she was, in fact, wearing a dress.
"Haisyn! You didn't tell me you were a girl!"
"Gee, and here I thought you knew. Calling me "sister" for all these years and all."
"Well having a sister and having a sister that looks like a sister are two entirely different things. What herd of wild horses dragged you into that thing?"
"I'm wearing it for Ash's party... and what the hell's wrong with me deciding to dress up once in a while? I just didn't want to wear it for no reason, it'd get ruined if I went working in it." Well... they both knew that was only a half-truth.
"HAISYN'S IN A DRESS, THE APOCOLYPSE IS NEAR!"
"Shut up before I slug you!"
"Honestly, you two, can't you be civil for even five minutes?" Ash stepped into the room with Tavil right behind her, wearing the jester outfit she loved so much but hadn't worn lately for the reasons Haisyn claimed to have been avoiding the dress.
"Yeah, dad. Leave Aunt Hai alone for a day." Tavil, a cat Hatchii that was Verran's adopted "son", lazily slung an arm over both of the combatants shoulders. It showed of his muscular shoulders beneath his dress shirt quite well, and his tail waved merrily behind him from the hole in the back of his slacks. "We're supposed to be having a nice day today."
Verran pouted and then tossed his hands up in defeat. "Hey, there's free food, that's all I'm really concerned with."
Haisyn punched him on the shoulder. "We know you dressed up a bit for Ash's celebration party, brother dear. Maybe no one else will notice, but you can't hide it from us!"
Ash rolled her eyes and grabbed Haisyn and Verran by an arm apiece and dragged them toward the door and out toward the picnic area. "If you guys must keep baiting eachother at least don't make me late for my own party!"
Tavil just chuckled and followed along behind, pushing on the two siblings to support Ash's pull. Sometimes he wondered who it was in their house that was supposed to be looking after who.

Zahar wanders outside smoothing out her dress as she comes with one hand. She brought with her some spirits that she found in Kataio's room. Kata was still off some where with Aricin. She looked around for the others spotting a group heading her way she waved. "Hello!"

Ash waved at Zahar and deviated from her original course, still dragging Haisyn behind her. Tavil was more than capable of getting Verran to the correct destination. "Heeeey Zahar! What do you think of Haisyn's dress? I keep telling her it looks fine but I'm not sure she believes me."
Haisyn just sort of covered her face with her hand and stood there, too exasperated to blush in embarrassment. Way to NOT make me feel like a spectacle.
Oh hush. What I said is true, isn't it?
I was... starting... to feel better about it... She glanced over to see Tavil and Verran setting up some music and the grill they'd taken out earlier and for once actually wished she was facing Verran's teasing, rather than the scrutiny of someone she barely knew.

Zahar smiles widely and holds out the bottle to Ashy. "You look wonderful, both of you." She seemed a little nervous to be around the group, wondering if Ash remembered what she had done. "Beautiful ladies should always wear a dress that shows them off the best." Zahar looked at Ash. "How does it feel to touch your nose?" She smiles as best she can.

((actually we all know Verran dressed up cause Merci's coming home today *evil grin))
It seemed like decades since the last time Merci walked into the colony. Part of her honestly couldn't believe that it was still here. She was dressed in her usual clothing, black tight leather miniskirt that looked like she had to pour herself into, a white wife beater under her comfortably worn leather jacket. Her guns were belted on around her waist and slung low around her hips. The insanely long red hair she boasted after her stint in space was braided fairly nicely, and anyone that knew the Kitsune would know Fauve had done it for her. Knee high leather combat boots clad her feet as she tromped through the enclave, deep green eyes scanning the environment, taking it all in.
Fauve practically floated behind her Guardian, her pink and black checkered mask tilting this way and that as she looked around the place she had grown up. She was finally home, her heart was pounding so quickly she thought she would keel over from sheer excitement. She wondered how Ashy was doing, and the others. She hadn't seen any of them since just after she herself had finally emerged from childhood.
Her honey blond hair was done up in a rather pretty french twist, with tendrils hanging down artfully. Her pink butterfly wings were flickering back and forth almost as quickly as Merci's tail, the only outward sign at how nervous she was. Her slender body was clad in the velvet dress she used like others used jeans. the long sleeves tied at the wrist with pink ribbons.
Inathe was clinging to Fauve's shoulder, the little lavender pocket dragon creeled loudly when they reached the edge of the celebration. He was standing with his back legs on her shoulder, and his front holding onto the curl in her mask for balance. His wings spread and he flapped them two or three times, making enough of a scene that the two girls couldn't enter quietly.
Merci paused and whistled lowly as she looked around, "They must have been expecting us Fauve..."

Zahar's question caused Ash to blink slowly and reach up to touch her nose. "I... have a nose... I was so happy about being able to talk and sing again I forgot about my nose!" She giggled while still rubbing her nose wonderingly.
But after a moment she stopped as something she hadn't felt in a while tickled at the back of her mind. The familiar screeching of a little dragon had her spinning on her heel and running the other way. "FAUVE!" The voice would be unfamiliar for Merci, and maybe for her sister for a moment. But Ash knew Fauve would remember. "FAUVE'S HOME!"
Haisyn's own discomfort was forgotten in the surprise from Ash's sudden outburst just before she spotted the others for herself. She too broke into a run (Ash had known better than to get her a dress she couldn't run in). Verran was closer however, and had longer legs, so Haisyn lost the race... if you could call it a race.
Ash collided with Fauve in a massive hug right before Verran practically picked up Merci and twirled her around. He in turn set Merci down right before Haisyn got there and smacked him in the back of the head. "Don't hog her! She's my friend too!"
"But... Sweetness!" He pouted.
"Bah." Haisyn claimed Merci for her own massive hug. "What the hell happened to you two?!" She had for the moment forgotten she was wearing a dress, and that neither Fauve nor Merci had ever seen her wearing anything remotely resembling a dress before.
Poor Tavil was sort of left in the dust, not wanting to abandon the equipment in the picnic area until someone else was there to watch it. Those colorful little birds that nested nearby liked to make a nuisance of themselves and would take off with anything they could pick up, including grill utensils and plastic silverwear.

Inathe Screeched when her mother was jostled to much and beat his wings hard, springing off her shoulder. He rose into the air and swooped over the picnic area to nestle on the branch of a tree and hiss. He was obviously very very upset.
Merci let out a very soft squeal as she was picked up suddenly, it took her a few seconds to realize it was Verran. She just grinned and threw her arms around him and grinned wildly, giving him a huge kiss on the cheek, "Verran you old dog!" She was just so happy to see him, Merci had always been horribly attached to him.
When she was put down she squeezed Haisyn into a snuggle and felt herself getting ready to cry. Her ears flattened back and her tail swung behind her back and forth. These people were her extended family, and she couldn't believe she hadn't seen them in so long. "Fauve had to go tearing off after Kasai. I very well couldn't let her go on her own. Hai I tell you it was hellish.. I will NEVER do anything that stupid again.
Fauve blinked and she was almost knocked over, whoever had bowled her over was hugging her and holding her up. She blinked, a few times and it finally registered. 'Ashy?' Her arms came up, shaking, and she embraced her sister and started crying. 'Ashy! I missed you so much! I can't believe it, you got your mask off. How? I mean... I just missed you so much, you wouldn't even believe it. I thought about you every day. I'm sorry I wasn't here, I was just so mad.'
Fauve squeezed Ashirha tightly, and tilted her head to get as close to her sister as she possibly could. Things were finally right again, she had Merci, Kasai, and Ashy all in one place.

Cinder let Merci` go on ahead with her group, she wanted to get the ship settled in after the flight and make sure no repairs would need to be done. Then she planned to go over Rhys and make sure he wasn't carrying any weapons. No matter who's eyes she was reminded of when he looked at her; she refused to be lax and bring harm to the colonists.
Cinder carried the post flight checklist in one hand, Kasai she knew was sealing the guns and getting various other things under control. She had also sent him off to collect the Nefs, because she had a feeling if those little things could they would stay behind just to do mischief with the ship. Turning the corner after looking over the cargo area Cinder stops in her tracks, her eyes going to Rhys. "We are going planetside...remember what I said about these people. You hurt them, I'll kill you." Cinder moved along quickly without adding more explanation to the poor boy.
Kasai went over the guns carefully and then once he was satisfied that they were sealed nodded to himself. Jumping down the ladder instead of bothering to walk he reached and tucked the two nefs into the pocket of his coat. The small creatures that appeared to look like winged mice gave small sounds of protest but in the end sat calmly enough.
With a slight sigh Kasai went to his room, looking it over he felt almost sad leaving it behind. He'd lived in the room for perhaps too long...but he had memories there that he didn't want to leave. Chiefly among them were memories of Fauve...they had grown close, but he still felt there was much more growing for them to do. And still the memories of a world that is lost in the past haunts him. Kasai couldn't remember anything of the past...but those memories that others were getting haunted him badly.
Time to go face, everyone... he mumbled mentally to himself as he leaned and grabbed his bag.
Rhys went out to the ramp and sullenly stared at the terrain around him. Looking things over he started to mentally map the place; more out of boredom then actual want. Cinder had made it clear that she had very little want to do anything with him...but there was also something else there he knew it. Before his thoughts could develop more, boots on the walk of the ship drew his attention; Cinder and Kasai emerged.
"Lets go find the others." Cinder smiled slightly and started on ahead, she was genuinely happy to be back. Plus she intended to put somethings to rest when she could pin down Merci` alone next.
So the group appears on the edge of the party in slight disarray. Cinder gives the entire area an intense looking over. Rhys seeing others and being generally confused wraps his wings tightly around himself and finds a nearby tree to lean on; pulling a cheroot from his breast pocket he lights it and starts slowly studying everyone. Kasai's eyes immediately go to Fauve but then he starts to look around to the rest as well, the two small Nefs escaping to find their own mischief as he gets distracted.
Pulling her jacket off Cinder tosses it to the side and raises a hand in greeting to those present.

It'd been so long since he'd dressed up. In fact, the last time he'd worn somethng even remotely fancy had been the night of the curse. The tall, lean ex-King had grown quite used to wearing whatever he wanted whenever he wanted. More often than not, his fashion sense revolved around whatever was most comfortable, which was usually a pair of sweatpants and a loose fitting tee. Today, though, Nika had put some effort into his appearance.
He started down the path that led to the place he knew the gathering would be, dressed in a pair of nicely worn jeans and a white button-up shirt. A few of the buttons at the top weren't fastened. Time had always hated those ones- they were annoying and made it kind of difficult to breathe.
"Wait up, leggy!" His gaurdian's voice carried from some place behind him. Nika smiled softly and turned around to wait for Gee, who was both a lot shorter and a lot slower than he was.
The blond woman sighed as she caught up to her boy and brushed a speck of imaginary dirt off of her shoulders. She looked cute, for lack of a more sophisticated word, in a pair of black denim jeans and a plain blue tank-top with thick straps.
"When did you get to be so tall?" Gee asked, faking exhaustion, as she and Nika walked towards the group of people together.
"About the same time you shrunk," Nika replied simply, with an amused shrug of his shoulders. His blue eyes danced around the gathered people, lighting up at the site of everybody there. It'd been so long since he'd seen them all together like this.
Was that Fauve? Kasai? Merci? Cinder? Nika and Gee let out identical gasps of surprise.

Fauve looked up from where she was holding Ashy, and she saw him. Nika, Maskless too. 'Ashy... I will be right back...' She pulled herself away from her sister gently and took off across the grounds at a dead run. That was Nika, that was the man that adopted her. She remember that much, and she knew he was pretty much her daddy. She threw her arms wide and barreled into him full tilt, tackle hugging him in her enthusiasm.
She didn't know if everyone had gotten their masks off, she was curious though. If they had theirs off then there was hope for her and Kasai to be able to see each other. The tears that had started when she had seen Ash just ran down her cheeks freely as she clung to Nika.

Kasai stood a moment and just watched Fauve tackle Nika. Looking over at the boy he blinked beneath his mask and studied Nika's maskless face. While Fauve pinned poor Nika in a hug Kasai reached up and offered time a small wave of his hand. Kasai didn't flicker his gaze more then once over the scene, he wasn't jealous over Fauve giving others affection...just when it was Cern. Looking over the area Kasai didn't see the hippy anywhere and wandered over to quietly take a seat, looking down at his clothing a bit he sighs and rests his elbow on the table. Definantly feel under dressed.
Cinder tosses her braid back and glances around the area, making her way to wherever she can find something to drink, "nice to see not everything is abandoned. After seeing the space station was afraid we might not find anything." Grabbing something to drink she settles on a log to sit and stretches her legs out.
Rhys continues to smoke off the cheroot partially glade that Cinder had seemed to forgotten about him. His dark colored blue eyes looked over those present and as other young men might he took a moment to look over the various females; all attractive in their own ways.

It was a good thing she wasn't heavy. Nika barely had time to register the fact that Fauve, whom he hadn't seen or talked to in a long time, was running at him with her arms opened wide and tears running freely down the sides of her mask.
A surprised 'oomph' sound slipped between Nika's parted lips when she jumped into him and, with a chuckle, he wrapped his arms around her tightly and returned the hug. He was so glad to see her that he didn't even need to ask what he'd done to recieve such affection. It didn't really matter. Her tears, however, were a whole different matter.
"Fauve?" he asked softly and used his thumb to wipe one of the liquid crystals away, "What's wrong?"
Gee, wide eyed and momentarily speechless, rushed to first Merci's side and then Cinder's. She enveloped both women in gentle hugs, before pulling away and asking;
"Where the hell have you been all this time? I missed both of you so much!"
The thin, blond woman studied them carefully before glancing around at the rest of the crowd. Was that Haisyn, looking unusually elegant in a dress? Who was that strange boy with the wings, leaning against the tree?
She smiled at the site of Ashi's pretty, maskless face. Before they'd come, Nika had mentioned that it was for a special occasion. Now she knew why.

Fauve tilted her head and looked up at him, deep blue eyes staring out of a pink and black checkered mask. She lifted a hand up tentatively and touched his face with her fingers, her hand trembling a ltitle bit. 'But, how?' She couldn't believe her eyes. She didn't remember really what he had looked like, but something about seeing him made her feel things she couldn't remember feeling before about anyone. She felt an unbelievable warmth in her heart, 'I am just so glad to see you.'
She had no idea how to explain verbally without sounding silly that she just wanted her daddy to snuggle her. So instead she shook her head, the butterfly wings flickering behind her slowly as she pressed her face back into Nika.
Merci arched a brow at Fauve and shook her head. "That girl gets weirder and weirder I tell you." She clapped Gee on the back with a huge grin, "I'm honestly just glad you guys are still alive, to be honest I wondered when we found that space station abandoned out there. Fauve got it in her head that she was going to go chasing after Kasai, and Gods forbid that girl not get her way if you know what I mean." Merci's ear turned backward and she glanced over her shoulder at Rhys, checking to be sure he didn't make any trouble.

Cinder chuckled and returned Gee's embrace, for someone so small Gee was definantly an experianced hugger. "I ended up having to rip my ship apart to destroy a wayward AI. And then I found Merci and Fauve in some little shuttle that I still haven't even figured out how it got that deep into space." Cinder frowns some in thought, "Cygens were out there too...meaning if there is some sort of hyperspace exit near this area letting critters through from my galaxy. We might be in for a bit of trouble."
Hearing Cinder's words Rhys shifted uneasily. Tossing his cheroot to the side he uses his heel to put it out, "Actually they were following me," as he speaks Rhys glances downward he had a feeling Cinder wasn't going to be thrilled hearing that bit of news. "I wasn't familiar with the ships controls...so I used the cloaking and hid. Was hoping they would get lost or hyperspace out..." the boy cringed slightly as he spoke waiting for what his biological yet very unfamiliar mother would say.
Kasai frowned slightly and looked over at Rhys remembering Cinder's worry considering those things, he lead them here. Kasai's voice was dark as he muttered. He also turned to his guardian, wondering what she would say.
Cinder stood and looked over at Rhys, "Cygens on your tail and you hid..." stalking over to the boy her eyes looking a bit dark she reaches up and turns him, tilting his head without warning she studies the back of his neck. Staring at the back of the boys neck for sometime she trembles slightly, "you don't have a port." There is a waver in her voice as she speaks, "planning to become a host..." as she goes on her voice becomes almost a whisper but carries.
Kasai didn't know why she was more upset that the boy didn't have any implants rather then that monsters had followed him but the distressing feelings he was getting from his guardian prompted him to get up hurriedly and stand near her to help calm her, though his stance was more protective. What's wrong, Cinder? He didn't know what Rhys was looking for from Cinder, but she had been his guardian longer...or at least knowingly been his longer.
Cinder sucks in a breath and much as is her nature she changed the subject instead of talking about something that could potentially lead to unwanted emotions. "He was flying that craft without a port," reaching up she pulls her hair up and touches the small implant on the back of her neck, "it would be like trying to ride a horse half-blind...which means he's either very lucky or a better pilot then I thought." Cinder rolls her shoulders, giving Rhys one more slightly haunted look she goes back to her seat. "I'll be sure to find out how Rhys traced me...but...the Cygens shouldn't be showing up again. Which is very good."
Rhys lets a breath out, looking over he realizes Kasai is rather close to him and only lets himself relax slightly. He could feel a bit of a chill under the garnet gaze of the masked other.

Her puzzled reaction to his maskless face was one that Nika had grown accustomed to over time. When he'd first had his mask removed, everybody had reacted in similar ways. Sometimes, even now, Gee couldn't resist the urge to touch his face with her hands.
On one occasion, she'd even gone as far as pretending to steal his nose.
"Sei did it," Nika explained casually and, with a gentle sigh, moved his hand to rub her back, in what he hoped would be a comforting manner. It'd been a long time since he'd had to comfort one of his daughters. He worried that he'd forgotten how.
"I am glad to see you too, Fauve. I missed you."
"I could say the same about you. We were really worried," Gee countered, alarmed by the news that the Space Station was abandoned. What could have happened? The last time she'd visited the place, it had been bustling with all sorts of activity. It was hard for her to imagine it empty. Eerie.
She watched the exchange between Cinder and the winged boy with a thoughtful, yet slightly confused, expression. There was obviously some little tidbit of information that she was missing. The young woman itched to ask one of the many questions that swirled around in her head. She shook her head and settled for the least personal one.
"What the hell are cygens?"
