Welcome to the almighty Poetry Contest! This is the continuation of the last contest I held. If you are looking for the previous contest to retrieve your entry, or review the winners, the old contest can be found here.
Check out my Profile!
Deadline:
August 16th (One week) -More specifially, 12:00 pm Eastern Daylight Savings Time Zone- The prizes should be announced within a couple of hours, if not instantaneously.

Prizes:
1st Place: 1000 gold
2nd Place: 500 gold

Entry Fee:0 gold. As in free.

Rules:

All pieces must be entirely original (In other words, plagiarism is illegal).

You may submit a poem that was previously entered in another contest, unless that piece won (It would be unfair to the other contestants if there was a poem submitted that was proven to win another contest). And it has to fit the outline!

Keep the poetry within the pg13 boundaries (If your little sister couldn’t read it without suffering permanent trauma, then it isn’t allowed)

Post your entry here as well as sending me a copy via PM. If you make any alterations to your poem, send me the revised entry and I will accept it provided the contest has not ended. Entry might be missed if you don't pm them to me

Do not flame, degrade, or talk rudely of another contestants entry.

On occasion I might include a required word in the outline that must be in the poem.

Those are the basic rules for the contest. Here is the outline for this specific Contest:

Outline:

Poem has to be between 5 and 35 lines.

Poem must have include the word: Distance. And please embolden in the word so it is easily seen.

Absolutely no swearing.

Try not to stray towards the dark and depressing poems that no one can understand.

There is no exact theme I want you to stick to..

Winners will be announced when the contest is over.

For Love

If love could be measured,
My ruler would be too short.
My tape would not be long enough.
My compass would not have a range considerable.

If love were an ocean,
It would be impossible for me to swim it.
My raft would be punctured.
My boat would begin to sink past half the journey.

If love were a mountain,
Satan could curse me for climbing it.
He could capture me for finding a path around it.
He could kill me for digging a tunnel beneath it.

If love were a person like you,
The Lord has measured the ground.
He has swum the distance of the ocean.
He has climbed each mountain,
For love.

Pouring_Blood_In_My_Heart
Walking a thousand miles
is no easy task.

Swimming a thousand miles
is harder than you can think.

Flying through the air
can be frightening.

Falling in love
Can mean dying.

Giving into those who can help
Can mean giving up your pride.

Letting him love you
Is the most simple thing imaginable.

But it hurts the most.

Um, you have to include the word "distance" in your poem...

The pain is a hurt
that stays deep inside
All senses are numbed
I can't even cry...

Nothing compares
to the feeling of grief
No comfort will make
me able to sleep

I wish I could run
an immeasurable time
an unending distance
to keep me alive

I need a purpose
to keep living strong
Something to take away
the pain of the loss

(No jokes please. This is my first try...)

Oh. Oops. I meant to do. I guess I just forgot as I wrote. I can fix it if that's okay.

Starry Night
(as in the painting by Van Gogh)

Brightly glowing in the distance
Waves of hills, crests of starlight

Silent town,
Small houses nestled below hills

Rolling waves of bushes
Thick
Meeting the light of the night
Reaching upward

Sweeping and dancing
Shimmering

Flow of energy
Winding growth
Silent comfort and awe

Graceful order
Slow bursts of light and color

Btw, if you turn your head sideways, each stanza should remind you of the large black, winding bush in the right of Van Gogh's painting.

The Left-behind

Watching you laugh a kiss onto her cheek,
the pulse skitters in my chest.
Days become couches -
I lounge listlessly
and within my stomach,
a tight ball of dread explodes.

My phonecalls shake your desk,
meaningless vibrations that do not move your apathy
like hurling handfuls of sand against a wall.

I could bear it better if it were more painful
but the wound is clever,
jerking tears from my eyes
through stings and aches,
not the sudden, clean
snap
of a broken bone.

Glimpsing you,
right before me
yet vaporous.
So this is what distance is.

Warning: I may be close at the pg13 limits, so if you are easily affected by corpses then dont read.

Father Of a Son

I looked through the window
Although half blocked by iron bars
I could see the gallows
It was late in the night
Some torches gave the gallows light

I will get what I deserve
I will be hanging on display
As birds eat my flesh day by day
Nothing but my bones will be left
The wind will hurl the coprses around
Giving away a rattling sound

My soul will be judged
And I know where it will go
I got blood on my hands
Wherever I look I see my son
I regret evrything I have done

My mind gets no peace
I am awake
In the distance the sun prepared to dawn
The night passed by much to fast
The comming day would be my last

lol, this didnt turn out to what I wanted it to be gonk

I'll Be Here

If you'll just let go
I will hold on to you
You scream of sin
And all that you'll never do
Let the black bird sing
It's love song tonight
And I'll be here

No paintbrushes or pencils
Could capture who you are
Or the distance that you measure
Between happiness and your heart

If I could pause the world
When you were feeling down
I would sing your favourite song
Into your deafened ear
Then you'd never know
That I was there
To helpt you through long nights
And that I was the reason why
You always felt alright
And I'll be here

Your Light In The Dark

Come along with me,
I will be your light in the dark
I will soothe your mind
No matter the distance between us
I will be your light in the dark

Please come along with me
For the farness we have
Can never keep us apart
Especially in the dark
I will be your light in the dark

Your length won’t stop me
Your gap won’t stop me
Not even the horizon can stop me
I will be your light
In your shining moments
In your darkest moments
I will be your light in the dark

No matter the distance
You will never feel
Alone for I will be
Your light in the dark
