I was in a forum on a different website and they told me that I'm not familiar with a decade's music and it's quality since I didn't live it. crying

To be specific:

Quote:
so you were 4 years old in 92 (preschool)

and 7 years old in 95 (1st grade)

and 9 years old in 97 (3rd grade)

and you really think YOU are familiar with 90's music and it's quality??????

sorry, you are not.

This is a hit below the belt and since this is a guild about a decade we weren't a part of, yet we are familiar with it's music and the quality of the music.
PostPosted: Thu Aug 09, 2007 8:13 pm

...yeah, and the music becomes totally inaccessable after once the decade is over. rolleyes Lemme barge in there and tell them off...I'm feeling protective of you. xP

Okay, that person was being anything but nice. *gives a Tigger squeeze* Like Phantasmagoria said, it's still available. It's still able to be appreciated.

i went to a flea market once and i was trying to buy a copy of janis joplin's 'pearl' on vinyl, and the person selling it wouldn't let me buy it, accusing me of going to take it home and ruin it by scratching it and re-mixing it on a turn table and raping to it. all because i'm young.

thats pretty rude of that person, they had no reason whatsoever to insult and abuse you like that, under any circumstances, let alone a stereotype based on age. I hate it when older people do that, and they say we have no respect. You should go back to the market and give them a piece of your mind, if you havent already.

Bah, people are ridiculous. Just because you weren't alive and/or very young doesn't mean that you can't discover the music and enjoy it. Jerks. rolleyes
I like it when you meet people who are completed shocked that you like older music, but they're nice to you about it and think you're a cool kid. xd Much better then completely turning on someone and saying "OMFG!!!111! U WERENT ALIVE U NO NOTHING!!!111!!" *huggles you* Don't let it get to you. That's just one person's badly-informed opinion.

And, on the quote you had, it would seem I'm two years younger then you, and I remember 90s music. neutral

I was born in 1992 and I remember when I was really young a lot of the 90's bands. Mostly because my brother was older then and listened to more music.

Age definitely doesn't have anything to do with how intelligent you are on certain things. Like this guy my dad bought a turn table off of was probably about 60, and had no clue how to put a record on.

Something I also hate is how people who have listened to that artist way before you, always like to shove in your face how long they've been a fan for.

And hey, it's not your fault that you're parents waited so long to bring you into this world razz

yeah, i was pretty pissed, but pretty much just said "you know what? ******** you! you obviously know nothing and as a matter of fact, i happen to worship janis joplin and i have been a collector of vintage vinyl records for a long time and would NEVER do such a thing. now, i'm buying that record whether you like it or, not okay, b***h!?" except maybe not quite as blatant... ha ha
