The Ghoul In Pajamas

aka H2G2. By Douglas Adams. I cant believe that this hasn't been a topic before.

Hitchhikers gude to the galaxy is very literally one of the two most funny things i have ever had the privilege of encountering.

Talk about the original BBC Radio series, the books, the Tv series, the stage plays and the movie.

I love the BBC series. I have been listening to it not stop for about a week in a row now. The movie is also very genius. I cant see what everyone is complaining about, i thought it was adapted very intelligently to the medium. I have yet to see the Tv series though crying

My favourite character is Dent, Arthur Dent. For two fundamental reasons, first- he loves a nice cup of hot tea, and second- he spends the entire journey wearing pajamas and a robe heart But all the characters are really terrific. Ford is so sweet especially. Slartibartfast is also really great.

Really genius stuff from a very painfully brilliant and witty man mrgreen

I was going to make a Douglas Adams board about a week ago, but I'd already made a couple boards so I figured I'd wait a bit before doing it.

I suppose in a way you've beat me to it.

But back on topic, Hitchhiker's is probably some of the most intelligent and hilarious books someone could find. Douglas Adams was a complete genius and it's so sad that he died, especially since he was just as unhappy with the last Hitchhiker's book as most of his fans and he was planning on writing another in order to make everyone feel better about it all. ):

I would've probably liked the movie more if Hugh Laurie had played Arthur like they'd originally intended. But the movie was still good.

Hugh Laurie as Arthur?? lol. I cant see that, hes too crisp and solid, like sure of himself looking (does that make sense) the guy who played Arthur was squishy and soft and sort of confused ^_^. I thought he was the perfect Arthur just the way he was, thats only my opinion of course.

I also loved Ford black, that was genius. hee (the dark skin suits you) ^_^
Bill Nighy was wonderful as Slartibartfast. But i kinda missed the BBC way that Zaphod said "terrific" and how he was always sort of mumbling to himself.

Marvin is really great. hes so adorable and squee. I loved Rickman as him

I just adore the concepts of the restaurant at the end of the universe, "super intelligent shades of the colour blue", the babel fish. Douglas Adams was a genius. I wish i could come up with stuff like that crying

I just love this series so much 4laugh

Hugh Laurie is very good at playing bumbling idiots and whatnot - playing idiots made up a large chunk of his career. I think he could pull off playing Arthur very well.

Yeah I think that was before he became a recurring character.

I spose i hadn't taken that into consideration. Because the only thing ive seen him do is House ... and Stewart Little.

No, i dont think that will be necessary. All you should really do to make it up to yourself is go out and somehow obtain the first "Primary Phase" of the BBC radio broadcast, by whatever means. Or perhaps watching the movie first is best, if you enjoy it, then you will absolutely love the radio series. But whatever you do, it must be toward getting H2G2 into your life xp

Hugh Laurie as Arthur? Hmm. Interesting idea, but even knowing his ability to play bumbling idiots, it doesn't quite fit, to my mind. He's a bit too posh. Martin Freeman seemed a decent enough casting choice, to me.
I really liked the film - it was pretty different, but all the versions are significantly different from one another. Nothing will match up to the radio series, in my opinion. It's pretty definitive.
