Flames illuminate the night sky, Tremilla, The City of Light burns, those who managed to escape are cowering in fear of the one who started the fire: Kurohoshi, wielder of the Black Star. The Black Star is a sword of unimaginable power, many abilities, all at the disposal of a madman.
He laughs, the firelight reflecting in his amber coloured eyes, everything had gone according to plan.
"Varisus!" he called out,
"Yes your Greatness." the General of Kurohoshi's army stepped forwards, then went to one knee, his whole body hidden by pure white cloak.
"I don't want any survivors from the city."
"As you wish my Lord." Varisus stood up and began to issue orders.
Within less than a minute, the demon army, the Kurohoshi had summoned with The Black Star, was destroying every last remenant of Tremilla.
Kurohoshi smiled as he heard the screams of the living and dying.
He turned and walked away, his armour clanking as he moved.
Days later the ash was still hot, Kurohoshi and his army had gone, and were yet to be sighted.
A small group of civilians who had left the city days before the attack were now returning to find it had been leveled.
The group was six strong, each member having met the other as they had left the city.
Riding a horse, is a young woman, decked out in gold jewelry and the finest fabrics, her name is Karariv Selphynas. Her chin length brown hair flicks out at the ends. Her linen dress flutters in the breeze, her satin coat keeps her covered in the more important areas. One her back a staff is held in place by a thin green cord, it is The Phoenix, a flame staff which never burns the wielder, and grants them a regeneration ability in battle.
Karariv is the daughter of the High Priest of Tremilla, Goddess of Light and namesake of the city.
Devin Jones rides just behind Karariv, the tall, muscular warrior agreed to come with the group out of honour, to protect them. His lack of weaponry and armour is made up for by his sheer brute strength and skill in unarmed combat. His dark features make him fairly recognisable and hard to impersonate.
Just ahead of the group Chirika Haimon is the first to see the carnage. As the scout she wears leather armour, carrys a bow and dagger. Her silver/white hair, tied off her face hides her youth. Her sapphire eyes fill with tears at the sight of the ashen remains of Tremilla.
At the rear of the group was Mishka Raniil, a young mage, who in his desperate attempts to woo Karariv on the journey had ended up with a few burns as a result. Luckiy for him, his speciality is water magic, so his clothes never catch fire for long. He wears a yukata, and sandals, carrying no weapon, relying on his magic, or other people, to get him out of tight situations.
Adrian, a rouge is leading Karariv's horse, Wearing an open sleeveless
jacket, a pair of slacks and some running shoes, he looks weak. However he carries a large shiruken on his back or in his had, putting most people off from attacking him. His tousled brown hair ruffles in the breeze and his cool grey eyes rarely give away what he is thinking.
Slightly ahead of Mishka is Kyou Hitomi, a mysterious warrior who favours a scythe as her weapon. She rarely speaks and seems to know more about the situation that she lets on. Her incredibly short black dress with net sleeves, thigh high net stockings and boots shock most who meet her. But what shocks people more is her scarf, the black material seems to move on its own.
The rest of the group catches up with Chirika, who is kneeling on the floor crying.
"He didn't do it by himself." Kyou whispered "He must have an army."
"Does it matter?" Mishka asked going to comfort Karariv who had also started to cry
"That b*****d, who does he think he is?" Devin growled
"The ruler of the world." Kyou suggested, "Regardless, something has to be done about him."
"But what?" Karariv asked, "He's got The Black Star, no other weapon is anywhere near as powerful."
"The Darkshine is." Chirika said
"Hate to say it, but The Darkshine doesn't exist." Adrian sighed
"What's the Darkshine?" Devin asked
"It's a long story, I know it well, part of Tremilla lore." Karariv replied, having now stopped crying.
"It started when The Dark Star was forged by the Sorcerer Vandril. He used it to fight the Gods. To defeat him Tremilla, Goddess of Light and Kuroko, Goddess of Darkness combined their powers to forge The Darkshine, the ultimate weapon. The legend goes that when Vandril was defeated, he prophesised that the next wielders of The Black Star could only be defeated by a moral wielding The Darkshine. He was then cast down to The Abyss, The Black Star sealed away and world goes back to normal." she paused, "There is no reference as to what happened to The Darkshine."
"There are records of Vandril's existance, then his disappearance, so it stands to reason The Darkshine exists." Kyou interrupted
"So what should we do, go look for this Darksine weapon?" Adrian asked sarcastically
"It's better than staying here." Kyou said curtly.
"Adrissae is where Vandril is said to have come from, and have been defeated, they may have some records as to what happened." Karariv said
"How can you think like that at times like this?" Chirika sobbed.
Adrian looked at them cooly,
"I don't think any other way." Kyou replied
"When you train to be a priestess, you are trained to hide emotion, to show others inner strength, so they find their own." Karariv answered
"I'm just too angry to get in that state." Devin moaned, "So are we going after this thing or not?" he added
"We might as well, who knows we may give someone hope if we try." Chirika whispered, standing up.
"Fine, we head for Adrissae." Kyou said, "We'd best hurry, who knows what Kurohoshi will do next, he is afterall totally insane."
