Here's what's been going on in the Guild:
Closed Contests sub-forum
Okay, we're overdue a newsletter so most of you will know this already, but I need to take up some space so this looks more official.
This is an idea we worked on in the "suggestions" thread. In order to avoid cluttering in the main forum, when a contest is closed it will be moved to the new "closed contests" sub-forum. I'll move those that I notice, but I'd like to ask contest hosts to send me a PM when their contests close, naming the winners and their prizes when the contests close, it makes it easier for me.
Opening of "The List" prompts thread
I think this is a really great thread, so I'm mentioning it here. If you haven't seen it yet, then you should check it out.
This was started by lylas919 as a place where you can read and/or add to a growing list of random sentances. It's intended to provide ideas and inspiration for people who're in need of it. There're all kinds of things there, serious, random, funny, anything at all, so to scoot on over to it in the non-competitive writing sub-forum to check it out when you have time.
Competitions being run at the moment
Annetia's one-word prompts competition (prose)
You are given one word as a prompt, you produce a peice of writing based on that prompt. 100 gold entry fee, 1200 gold first prize, 600 gold second prize. Not generating much interest, advertise, people! Please enter!
Zenai_Metos's mascot suggestions
Zenai, supplier of all my wonderful banners, is taking suggestions for a Guild mascot, as well as giving out the codes for our banners and taking suggestions for others. (I consider him Head of Banners at the Guild).
The Tower (prose)
Produce a piece of writing based on the tarot card, "the tower", 100 to 600 words, no fee, 1000 gold first prize, second prize not set.
Outlined in Ink (poetry)
Write a poem between 5 and 35 lines, containing the word "distance". Nothing ridiculously dark and depressing, 1st prize 1000 gold, second prize 500 gold.
The Mourning Angel (prose)
Write a story, 1,000 to 5,000 words, about the apocolypse, which your charachters are involved in. And the world must actually end, no heros saving it. No fee, 1st prize 2000 gold, 2nd prize 1,000 gold.
