So she lucked out. Kagome is nicer than Kikyo in my opinion. She isn't bothered by the fact that Inuyasha is a hanyou while the rest of the humans in that era were weary at first by hanyous. She didn't have the predjuice that everyone else did against hanyou.
Kikyo, as an animate clay golem, and as Chunga has said, is an echo of her old self. I think that the shades of strong emotions left behind are acting as her conscience and guiding her actions. But I think that her attachment to Inuyasha is unhealthy for him. She needs to understand that her reincarnation can care for him better than she ever could and let it go.
Revenge is a petty thing. And really doesn't solve anything. That is the only reason that Kikyo is around now.
Inuyasha, on the other hand, has found better reasons to get rid of Naraku. Revenge is not much of an issue for him anymore.

Kikyou tended to children, the elderly, the sick, the wounded, the senile, etc. who has kagome tended to? (and i don't mean with her spiffy first aid kit. They usually have to be bandaged by Kaede, anyway. The first-aid kit is for minor stuff like scratches and the like.)

Kikyou didn't care, either. She loved him enough to not kill him. She gave up er post ald let her guard down for him- the one thing she was taught not to do. Any time that he tried to steal the jewel, she only pinned his clothes when she could have easily killed him. And she never killed him, at any time whatsoever. When she pinned him to that tree, she put him in a deep slumber. She, on the other hand, died. And when Inu-Yasha first said "yadda yadda yadda the woman that killed me 50 years ago" that was a dubbing glitch. they tend to do that, if you watch the dubbed version of some animes, and then watch the subtitled version. They can say very different things. (Like in Spirited Away.)
---And also, Kagome is from a time where demons and Hanyous don't exist. She was not taught to prejudice hanyous, so, naturally, she won't, because she was not taught like the others in that time and era. So, that's not really a good reason.

Uhm, Kikyou is around now because Urasue brought her back. She didn't ask to be brought back. But since she was, she'll make the best of it. And she's not out for revenge anymore. She wants to be with him, just like Kagome. So don't even say any bull about that.

What are his "better reasons"? He said that- for one thing- he was doing it to avenge Kikyou. Kikyou's also out to kill him, because she can't rest until he dies. So... Meh.
stare And also, to Japan, Hell is kinda like heaven. I don't think that a highly religious follower would just go to hell like that.

People who are alive can be like that.
rolleyes People change. They "turn over new leaves". They can become "Shadows of who they used to be". And besides, that's a bit irrelevant.

*Looks around* I don't see Kikyou trying to kill Inu-Yasha anymore, either. Nope, she's trying to help him kill Naraku. Ya know what's called? T-E-A-M-W-O-R-K. Trying to get along and help one another. Now, isn't that just the perfect revenge, trying to help someone? (Yes, I'm being sarcastic.)
--And also, If Kagome loves Inu-Yasha, what has she done to try and help him? She's helping Inu find the jewel shard because
a.) She likes him
b.) It's only right, because, after all, she
did break the jewel.
