Prior to ending up a slave;
Darren was a street child from Polcrity, after the war had spilled inside his door and left him an orphen. For whatever reason, his intellect, his small kindness, or natural charisma the other children followed his guideness and he became the leader of the gang. One day, slaver had come, and the neko was capture in saving the girl Lanem. He was sold to the mansion Lord Zanderu's mansion.
After;

At first Darren was very against his new station, running amok before the slavers could even sell him to the master of the house. However, after meeting him, Darren quickly became entranced with the senra who would become his master. He got along for the most part with his fellow slaves, Derrick and Alys, although there were times when things were strained between them and other time when Darren was left struggling between following his heart and pleasing his master.
The largest interrupt to his otherwise happy life came the day Zanderu died. Two weeks before they had fought and Zanderu had disowned him. Darren, having only given into slavery to serve the senra, thought it best to leave, go out into the woods, and let the monsters eat him so that he would no longer trouble his master. However Zanderu did feel this way and shot him (in the knee) to prevent him from leaving. Darren, in pain and unable to bare the cold stares of his former master and lover, raised his claws to his own throat and tore it open. Zanderu saved his life and tended to his wounds, but then the master disappeared. The neko dragged himself out into the labyrith to struggle for two weeks on his own to regain the use of his leg, and then he returned to the master to beg forgiveness and to show him that he could walk again. However, Darren bright hopes were dashed when he arrived and the Lord died right before his eyes. In sorrow, desperation, anger, love, and madness Darren cursed or blessed the body of his master sacrificing his right eye to keep it from rotting. He then transformed in a huge demonic lion and lived in the woods as a beast untill some one else took over the manor.
He acquired scars, a more wild appearance, strength, and a harder dispostion from living among the monsters. The arrival of the first Wynter sister proved a trial for him, the woods had made him cold and unsuitable to be a slave, and he struggled against her. However she did revive his master, but she made him a slave, which broke his heart again though he wouldn't leave him. The second sister return his master's status and things returned to normal. Alys had the Lord's child and he was making more to save his species. However this to was to pass, the Lord was captured and despite the fight that Darren and the other put up the Mistress Wynter and his master's mate was killed.
As the Lord tend to his wounds Darren considered what had happened the last time the Zanderu had considered himself to be the last of his race; he became depressed and let himself die. The neko didn't want this to pass and decided to go on a secret quest to find the spell that would transform others into senra, if he had that.. his master would never need to feel alone again. His desire to help his master led to his unwanted freedom, and now he roams the world seeking the spell which he believes is the key to his master's happiness.
His quest for clues to the spell lead Darren on a journey across continents. First to Polcrity where in order to continue his quest, Darren allowed himself to be taken by the troublesome sultan. He proceed swiftly onwards to junlio were he befriend a werewolf and continued his search, but things quickly progressed and the neko's quest sent him to the poisonious continet of Vesking. It was there Darren's found the object of his search, but he was bitten by one of the many poisonious creatures and given a death sentence of only a few months to live as long as he continued to take the medication that kept the poison at bay. The side effect was that it turned his skin a blue unnatural hue.
He learned that Zanderu and Alys were on the airship, when he attempted he give it to Zanderu at his home, but they had already departed. He choose to use his new skin color as a disguise and taking on a new name aboard the ship. However Zanderu recognized him as he had infuriated Darren to the point of throwing the jounrnal at him. Things were rocky between the former slaves and the former master, and then the and the rest of the crew were imprisoned in Belrous. It has been some time since then and no one had heard from Darren since.

Since his disappearence the neko had spent several years in the country of Polcrity. While there it is speculated that the neko was the mastermind behind the down fall of the Sultan and his family, which ending the their beheading. The is also rumor that Darren Shan is the same person as the new grand viser Near Rhands, but there is no evidence to support those claims at this time.

Brief History(optional): A rather usual product of circumstance cause her to join Darren's gang. She had come from a very wealthy family, but her family had failed to pay proper tribute to Felix. In retailation the king ordered that her father be killed and the rest of his family be sold into slavery in foreign lands. However she had been out with her nanny when the soldiers came. To make a long story short Darren intercepted her from going back and saved her from slavery. She's been with the gang about two years, and although she acts childish she is a very big help.
Preference (Bi/Straight/Gay): She is 6, no clue although she had a crush on Darren.

Species: Kite is something of a mutt. He is half centuar from his father and half dryah, wood nymph from his mother. He had the form of a human down to his hand and feet but a long thick tail of hair that was as black as black could be fell down all the way past his feet. There is also a think mane of the the same hair that sprouts from his head and goes all the way goes halfway down his back as well as a pair of point horse ears that sprung up towards the sky.
He'd also been given his father's violet eyes, but they are since large and innocent like his mom's.
Special ablities: The crossbred has an exceptional talent for growing any kind of plant life. Flowers with literally spring up in his wake and flowering vines have been know to entangle themselfs in his long hair, bloom, and then detach from the ground. He can coax nearly dead and weak plants back to life and his body gives off a floral scent. However the scent changes depending on his mood; different emotion and the strength of those feelings create different scents. Fear is often a violet scent while happiness is generally buttercups, and contentment is a mixture of clover and sunflowers. However they are always changing.
History: Born in the forest he was raised not by his parents but by the plants that lived there. He lived in blissful ignorance in the woods this way for a long time, no one knows how long. Eating the fruit that bloomed for him, sleeping in beds of moss and clover, drinking dew and rain in almost his own private eden. The one day beings came that looked more like him that any of the creatures he had seen before. They had no tails but they had hands, and feet, and skin like his. They lured him forward with sweet bread and fruit and then bound him with terrible cold chains and biting rope. They dragged him away from his home and made him dance for other people. They taught him their language and told him that he was Kite the slave. One day he became ill so they sold him to another who sold him to the mansion, and there he is.
Personality: Kite is a quiet, timid, creature still an innoccent dreamer who loves all things flora. He is happy enough but because of his ignorant existence for so long many tend to think him slow, despite the fact that he picked up the language fairly quickly. He fears bridles and feathered headdress as it is what they made him when in the circus when he danced. He is sweet, naive, and skittish, but lonely.
