~@~ WeatherAlthough it is becoming warmer inland, the sea's air still provides a cool temperature around the pridelands. A few clouds may be spotted here and there, but for the most part, the sun shines brightly.~@~ HistoryMlinda the SurvivorBefore Mlinda ya'uziwa's parents were born (or any of ours), the king of the Bahari'mtoto was Chafuko. The large lion had been passed the title of king from his great-grandfather, his grandfather, his father, and to him.
As a cub, Chafuko had more knowledge about the sea than any other lion in the pride. This would be a trait carried down to the heir of the throne. Chafuko, however, had been taught the ways of the sea, such as it's emotions, thoughts, etc. by his grandfather.
Chafuko had grown over time, and met a lioness name Sulisuli. Together, they ruled over the pride, and successfully raised a son named Kwangu. Kwangu, in turn, was a successful king, and after Chafuko and Sulisuli passed away, this king was left alone.
There was a point in the history of the Bahari'mtoto when a revolution took place. Many lions believed Kwangu was a demon, and they attempted to overthrow the monarchy. If it hadn't been for a younger lioness named Mwenza'mawe, the Bahari'mtoto wouldn't have continued. Through the months and years that passed by, the two had barely been able to control the pride. Their love for the pride was as strong as their own.
Mlinda ya'uziwa was the next in line for the throne, as Mwenza and Kwangu had begun to age. As their daughter, she was to be blessed by the sea. However, as the coronation began, the winds had begun to howl, and the waves had grown enormous. The little cub was frightened, as were all the other pride members. As 2 enormous waves pounded onto the members, they were taken by the sea. A third wave came, and painfully ripped the king and queen from their daughter's sides. Mlinda herself had barely escaped from these waves, keeping her soggy, tiny body hidden among the slippery, jagged rocks that lay scattered along the shore. What had caused such a disaster to happen? Was it an omen from the sea, or perhaps a warning....?
Currently, Mlinda has re-established the Bahari'mtoto pride, with the help of her mate, Tambuzi. They have 5 children: Sikulu, Rengu, Miani, Siyasura, and Tamu.

~@~Sacred ItemsShells: The lions of the Bahari'mtoto regard shells very highly, and some types more than others. The flat scalloped type shells are beautiful ornaments and decorations for body and den. Cowries are very rare and sometimes plaited into manes and tails by friendly coast-dwelling birds. But the most precious of shells are the spiralled, conical shells. Once home to hermit brabs, these shells positively glow with the life of the ocean and are held as dear keepsakes. A Bahari'mtoto lion will ask loved ones to whisper into the shell, so that when the lion feels lonely, it need only listen to its shell to hear them again.
Mermaids Purse (shark egg): These are considered very bad luck indeed. For the ocean to throw one of its many creatures onto the shore at a time when it hasn't even fully developed is a sign of forboding and possible looming storm. The egg should be returned to deeper waters, but that is not always a gurantee of a clear day.
Jellyfish: Also another bad luck charm, these are to be avoided entirely because of their sting.
Sea stars: The Bahari'mtoto pride regards these as good luck, not only from the sea, but from the moon, as well. Sea stars are seen as signs of recognition and love from the moon god/dess, and are thought of as 'rewards' for being loyal to the sea and moon. If sea stars are not abundant, the pride will make more than one offering a day.~@~Rituals and CeremoniesDabiku'Asante (Offering of Thanks): throughout the year, the king and queen of the Bahari'mtoto choose times for an offering to the sea in gratitude of peaceful waters and clear skies. An offering is usually made up of things that the sea has granted them - shells, fish bones, seaweed, and even strands of fur from any recently born cubs. They arrange them into something what will easily be lifted by the tide as it moves in, like a necklace.
Mwezifichika: this is a time of fear for the Bahari'mtoto. At the time of a new moon, when it simply isn't lit up in the sky, the Bahari'mtoto fear that the mood god/dess has left them, and that the sea will become tumultuous in their absence. Many offerings of peace are made over the couple of days until the moon starts to wax once more.

Name: Mlinda ya'uziwa Meaning: 'Protector of the sea' Title: Queen Parents: Kwangu x Mwenza (deceased) Siblings: None Mate: Tambuzi Offspring: Miani, Sikulu, Rengu, Siyasura, Tamu. Owned by: Archnasa Description: As queen of the Bahari'mtoto, Mlinda can be calm and soothing, like the sea. As a regular lioness, however, she can be outgoing, friendly, and sometimes headstrong. As a blend of the two, this queen can't go wrong, especially with her mate beside her.
Name: Tambuzi Meaning: 'Intelligent' Title: King Parents: Leruarua x Pomboo (deceased) Mate: Mlinda Siblings: Tipwa Offspring: Miani, Sikulu, Rengu, Siyasua, Tamu Owned by: Amy D Description: Quite intellectual but rather hopeless at times, Tambuzi (Tamba for short) is a physically diminuitive lion but more than makes up for it in tactics and working things out with words. He's a devoted father and quite a playful one too.
Name: Sikulu Meaning: 'Swordfish' Title: Heir Parents: Tambuzi x Mlinda Siblings: Miani, Siyasura, Tamu, Rengu Mate: None Offspring: None Owned by: Archnasa Description: Sikulu is a fiery cub, with his main goal being to be the best king the Bahari'mtoto has ever seen! He prizes family to be very important, as well as the sea. Although he may just be a juvenile now, his priorities have been set, and he's ready to learn the ways of a true king. Sikulu watches out for his family members, especially Siyasura. He seems to be a bit rebellious as well, but it's nothing he hasn't been before.
Name: Rengu Meaning: ‘Thalassic’ Title: Prince Parents: Tambuzi x Mlinda Siblings: Sikulu, Miani, Tamu, Siyasura Mate: None Offspring: None Owned by: Wotcher Description: Not nearly as brave as his older brother, Rengu is a shy, meek cub that is quite convinced that every big, bad thing he sees is out to get him. He even counts the sea as a potential threat, with its ‘rushing tide’ and ‘pounding waves‘, though a certain fondness for the sea does remain. Although friendly and open to his family, he will usually run the opposite way when he notices a stranger approaching. He stutters fairly bad when he speaks, but he is slowly gaining control over this as he ages.
Name: Miani Meaning: 'Seaweed' Title: Princess Parents: Tambuzi x Mlinda Siblings: Siku, Siyasura, Tamu, Rengu Mate: None Offspring: None Owned by: Taejira Description: Miani thinks herself a priestess, of sorts, and drapes herself in seaweed and shells and various other decorations the sea provides. Though she has no actual knowledge of rites or rituals of her pride, she is often seen lounging by the water, staring at the sea as though it could speak to her. She's a sort of absent-minded and easily distracted cub, but friendly all the same.
Name: Tamu Meaning: 'Sweet one' Title: Princess Parents: Tambuzi x Mlinda Siblings: Miani, Siyasura, Sikulu, Rengu Mate: None Offspring: None Owned by: Amy D Description: The closest in resemblance to her father, Tamu is a little less hopeless in matters of life, and is quite good at applying her thirst for knowledge with her practical life. She's playful and loves to explore, but is a little less fond of the sea than her siblings.
Name: Siyasura Meaning: 'No face' Title: Princess Parents: Tambuzi x Mlinda Siblings: Sikulu, Miani, Tamu, Rengu Mate: None Offspring: None Owned by: Syrius Lionwing Description: Siyasura is a sweet little lioness, though she still cannot speak despite being a juvenile now. She often gets lost in her own little world. She has a very short attention span and is very easily destracted by the simplest of things. Hopefully with age will come wisdom.

Name Leboya Meaning: 'To sting' Title: Nanny Parents: ? x ? Siblings: Unknown Mate: None Offspring: Hlatswana, Neoni'liga, Kijuvo, Nyemelewa Owned by: demon_pachabel Description:The jellyfish of the sea pride, Leboya is very much like her stinging counterpart; angry only with reason or threat. Very mothering, Leboya watches over her own children, as well as those of others, with a cautious eye.
Name: Kilua Meaning: 'Flower' Title: Huntress Parents: Maji x Ciyari Siblings: Utomo [Seer], Kayin Mate: None Offspring: None Owned by: Werewolf Description: A kind and thoughtful lioness, Kilua spends her time trying to ignore her secretive and somewhat confusing past and focus on the future. She can have a rigid sense of formality about her, after being told by her mother that she was a princess. She puts no wait in such ideas anymore- but she has always kept about a kind of reserved air to her.
Because she was so doted on and then dispersed, Kilua has no knowledge of real hunting, and a botched attempt at learning how has left her crippled. But on the other hand, tending to her wound has left her with some sense of healing knowledge, and she enjoys learning more about such care.
Name: Nkechi Meaning: 'God gave me a blessing' Title: Scout Parents: Hidalgo x Ishara Siblings: Runai, Toshiro, Jwahir Jaha, Masika Mate: Noari Offspring: Wacheza, Mirija, Kiraku, Owned by: Ary Keeyara Description: Nkechi is an absolute sweet-heart. She loved others greatly, even if she doesn't understand them. She likes pretty things, like flowers and butterflies as well. However, she is easily scared and distrought and can easily be called and scaredy cat. She's also extremely niave, and can be tricked into almost anything. She was born in the graveyard but left in her adolecance with Noari who tricked her into leaving for his own purposes. Over time they grew close, though she never knew of his other intentions.

Name: Manoari Meaning: 'Man of war' Title: Scout Parents: ? x ? Siblings: None Mate: Nkechi Offspring: Wacheza, Mirija, Kiraku, Owned by: FallenMercury Description: The ex-Firekin is uncomfortable with his emotions and does his best to put on a cold face. Deep inside he is overwhelmed with guilt over the fact that he was trying to manipulate his mate, Nkechi, when they first met. As he fell for her, though, he wanted to redeem himself and so they traveled to the beautiful seaside to settle down.

~@~OOC RequirementsRP: We'd like to see some dedication to the pride please, so an active RPer has a much better chance of being accepted than someone who isn't. At a minimum, it'd be nice to see 4 good RP's in the lands, with existing members or other new lions, and at least one RP with a member of royalty. After that, there has to be an acceptance RP from Tambuzi or Mlinda, so you CANNOT consider yourself a pride member until that acceptance RP is completed. We'll PM you when we are available to do the acceptance smile
Youngsters: A strong adult population is needed first, so until then, young lions (cubs-juves) will not be accepted unless they come with a parent or adult lion to even out the balance. I promise, this will change as the pride grows :3
Breeding: Breeding is strongly discouraged until we can organise and confirm adult numbers. No point in having a pride full of cubs, now is there? Even after things have settled, it would be most appreciated if you PMed us about any planned breedings and ask for permission first please. Generally, we're okay with it as long as you've been active and don't plan to run off as soon as the cubs arrive :3
If you're interested in joining the Bahari'mtoto pride, fill out the form (with a link to an image of your lion) and send it to the mule. Info will be posted in 'potential members' and when you've done enough RP's and everything, we'll move you onto 'pride members' :3
Application Form Name: Meaning: Parents: Siblings: Mate: (leave blank if the lion doesn't have one or is underage) Offspring: (again, leave blank) Owned by: Description:
For my reference, this here be a list of people who have requested an RP with Tambuzi, but these are NOT acceptance RPs;
