Post questions about breedings in this thread please!

01. How much are breeding fees? How many offspring can Hespierden produce?
Regular breeding fees per Hespierden parent can be found in the In-Depth Hespierden Guide. The number of offspring produced can vary depending on amount of RP between the couples, the parents' types and/or stages; however, approximate numbers can be found in the In-Depth Hespierden Guide.

02. How can I get a breeding slot? Where do breeding fee trades go?
All regular breeding fees should be sent directly to the breeder/colorist. Bribed breeding trades go to Gate to Hesperides. Breeders will open a minimum of 3 regular breeding slot every two months. Breeding slots are distributed via a "free raffle." Bribed breedings can be obtain when breeders open their bribe slots (details in the Commission post #13). Breedings can also be obtained in the flower slots (details in the Flower Hunt post #6) if you have the sufficient number of flowers.

03. What are limitations on breeding couples?
Cross-breeding between species is not allowed. Only Hespierdon and Hesperide can breeding; Hespierdan cannot. Homosexual (ie. same gender) breedings are only allowed if the two Hespierden were lifemated prior to any breedings and they have a heavy RP basis (minimum of 6 pages of "short" posts or 3 pages of "long" posts)--the only exception to the RP requirements are bribed breedings. Hespierden from different generations can bring only if they constitute as an RP'd couple; this is to prevent people from using Hespierden as "baby machines". User Image

04. How are traits passed onto offspring?
Breeders/colorists have complete discretion over the designs of the the offspring as well what the edits will be. However, there is a systematic method to the determination of the gender of the offspring, the type of the offspring, and whether or not the offspring will be editted in order for all breedings to be fair. Anthro or elder stages are not passed onto offspring.

05. How often can a couple/single Hespierden breed? What happens to the offsprings?
An individual Hespierden can only breed every other month. If they are not lifemated, they have a maximum of 3 breedings whereas lifemated couples have a maximum of 5 breedings. Elders can breed one more than the max (depending on if they're a single or coupled Hespierden). An owner can enter a maximum of 2 Hespierdon per breeding raffle and can win a maximum of 2 non-bribed breedings every 2 months (January-February, March-April, ... November-December).

06. What happens to the offsprings?
All offspring will be distributed at the discretion of the owners. Each owner may only keep a maximum of one offspring. The rest may be given away for free via any method (contest, free raffle, gift, etc.). If they wish to sell any of the offspring, they must ask and receive permission from DawnieChan beforehand. The money will be split as such: 20% to the owner(s) and 80% to the colorist. If I suspect people are breeding solely to get a profit, I will take away the option of selling babies from breedings.

07. What are "low-luck" breeding raffles?
These raffles are only for couples that have tried [unsuccessfully] 3 (or more times, number may vary depending on the breeder). In some cases the breeder may also require that low-luck parents not ever have had offspring. If wishing to enter a low-luck raffle, owner(s) must provide the URLs of the last several breeding raffles that it entered and was unsuccessful.

1. If one breeds their Hespierdon once without the couple being lifemated the breeding count you can have now is two more breedings. My question is, if one breeds their Hespierdon once or even twice without them being lifemated, will the couple be able to be lifemated later?
However, what conditions would they have concerning breeding? Because lifemated couples are said to breed infinitely so I wasn't sure if couples who already had a breeding without being lifemated would have the chance of breeding infinitely as well. Personally I would think no because then others may abuse this. So would these new lifemated pairs still have the limit of three breedings or would it increase slightly since they are lifemated?
Just to keep things less hectic and difficult to manage, Hespierdon will be able to breed twice before being lifemated. If they reach the 3 breeding limit before being lifemated, then they will not be able to be lifemated. Otherwise, they can breed twice with different partners, become lifemated, and breed indefinitely. As lifemating is already a pretty serious matter since you cannot change lifemates no matter what the reason is later.

2. If you were to lifemate your Hespierdon and you owned both, I believe you can still do this, my question is would this affect breeding in any way? I wasn't sure because they are owned by the same owner but then again you can only keep one offspring so perhaps not.
Regular rules apply, no new limitations are placed on such lifemates. Though, since the couple is owned by one owner, none of the offspring can ever be sold for profit.

3. About low luck raffles, would they have more tickets or would it be like Soquili with a whole separate raffle?
It would be a whole separate raffle. Though this is completely at the discretion of the breeder/colorist. They can choose to give more tickets based on how many unsuccessful breedings the couple has participated or just choose to open a seperate raffle.

4. Now hair potions. I understand that mutation potions are passed down while anthro isn't. I remember once that you said that hair potions weren't passed down, I think around the time when Celinyah and Minori had their orbs. However does this involve cosplays of the characters? Because I remember you mentioning that cosplays do keep their hair edits/clothing edits/etc.
There's been a change of guidelines. From now on, edits can be passed down, including mutations, hair, and minor jewelry/clothing edits. The only thing that can't be passed down is the ability to grow into an anthro (without the anthro potion).

So to get a 100% say on this, my question is that will there be any chance of other Hespierdon who have hair edits while not being a cosplay of something be able to have their hair passed onto their offspring or no? For example like Denise, or would I need to buy hair potions for certain offspring of hers if should she ever breed? I'm quite sure it's not because of the first breeding but never know till you ask.

5. I recently found out that lifemated Hespierdon and elder Hespierdon get the same amount of offspring. Now my question is, if the couple are elders and lifemated would that produce even more offspring?
Lifemated and elder couples do not produce the same number of offspring (please tell me where you found this, because I'll need to change it @o@). The only "special" ability of lifemated couples is that they can breed many times. They do not necessarily produce larger litters (as some owners could abuse such an ability without having to RP, etc.). Otherwise, the in-depth guide should provide how many offspring are commonly produced.

6. To be eligible for an elder breeding, do both the parents need to be elders or only one?
For the most part, the in-depth guide will give a range of litter sizes that can be produced. Couples with only one elder will commonly produce the small litter size as compared to a breeding with two elders.

This is probably because of how I interpreted the following paragraph posted in the first post:

"RP couples, lifemated couples, and/or elder couples have larger litters."

When I read the in-depth guide, I understood non RPed couples had 3 orbs max. RPed couples would have 4, And Life Mated/Elders could have 4-5 -which I interpreted as randomly rolled wether they had 4 or 5-

I probably read this horribly wrong and I ended up giving up more orbs than I was supposed to, since I really had no guidelines about how many babies Life mated pets get exactly -and under what condition an Elder couple got 4 orbs and when it'd have 5. XD;

I thought an RPed, Lifemated couple would have the chance to 'roll' for either 4 or 5 orbs, as the guide didn't say anything especific about the amount of orbs for Lifemated couples other than the bit I just bolded.

@_@ I apologize for this mess.

Sorry, it was my fault for not clarifying that. But for any reason, you have free reign on how you want to do breedings, those were just the guidelines for mine. It's only more work for you, that's all~ xDD And it's no mess at all, I'm sure everyone was happy with the results~

For familiars, will they ever be able to breed amongst theirselves or will it stay for them as non-breedable?
My guess is they'll stay as non-breedable.

Also if an owner who owns both Hespierdon, rp's them together (not a rushed relationship either) will that owner be able to classify his/her Hespierdon under the rp category when filling out the form?
Yes.

For bribe breedings, are we allowed to choose gender for the offspring or is everything determined by the colourist with only an extra hope of getting a larger than normal litter?
You may ask the colorist about any particular points you would like to address for bribe breedings including litter size, genders, and potential mutations. The finally decision will be up to the colorist, but will likely be in your favor since it is a bribed breeding after all. :]

XD I love asking questions.
