Heh... Yes, I am a pedantic a**. I am fully aware of that. Quite frankly though, I do not care. I do not visit this site to make friends--I have the real world for that. If you take offence to that, then I suggest that you simply avoid reading my posts.

It's gaia online, for christs sake, not the latest meeting of her majestys privy council. Professionalism is NOT in the terms of service, and you are not anything special for trying to demand it.

Let me be the first to tell you that I act exactly the same way on Gaia as I do in reality. Admittedly, I do tend to be more social than in reality, however, I will tear down anyone that doesn't meet my standards in real life or on Gaia, whether I have known them for years or if I have just met them. I am not 'raging against society,' nor am I some little emo ******** who is off in the corner crying about how nobody 'understands' me.

Ultimately, I have nothing against society. Nor do I discriminate against anyone based on anything other than their actions and how they present themselves. If you want to post an ill-formed piece of s**t in the ED, then go right ahead. I may disagree with it, but I will defend to the death your right to do so. This does not mean that I will not verbally object to this, only that I will defend your right to it. If the content is s**t, I will flame you for the content alone. Did you ever stop to wonder why I don't visit the GD or Chatterbox? It's because they are for general discussion and spam. The ED is the only forum on Gaia that actually has elitist standards. It is, and I quote, "where users can have in-depth discussions and involved debates on specific topics."

Note, that does not say anything about ill-formed topics, spam, general chat, miscellaneous questions, or any other of a myriad of subjects that one could easily pull out. It is, by default, an elitist forum. That is all that there is to it. If you want to argue it, go right ahead, however, until the forum rules and description are changed, I will continue to openly dismiss inferior topics.

And where does all this voltairian s**t come from? You ain't nothing noble, mate. All you're doing is trying to stifle conversation, destroy communication. Discussions can be in-depth without being up-their-own-arse, and can be interesting without being your way. You just enforce uniformity, my-way-or-the-highway bullshit that just destroys everything interesting about life. I find it quite vile.

(Only a green belt, actually...) What would have given you the idea that I am at all aggravated? I get hate mail regularly. It's become rather a hobby replying to it. However, yes, that is many times how I act in real life. Obviously, I do not go around shoving it up everyone's a** on a daily basis--only when the situation calls for it. There is a clearly defined line between a simple mistake and being an idiot. For instance, if someone asks me to proofread a paper that is clearly s**t, I will flat out tell them so. I do not sugar coat my opinions for anyone.

Quite likely, the only reason that this single instance is so spectacular is for the singular reason that I primarily visit the ED. If I were to frequent other forums and partake in light discussion on a regular basis, then this would come off as an isolated incident, as it might in my daily life. However, as I only frequent this one forum, such things are often viewed in a far harsher light than they would be otherwise. I am not saying that I'm not an a**, nor am I trying to justify any of my actions--merely pointing out a simple fact.

As far as the Voltaire, it was merely a tie-in to fill space and illustrate my position. In short, I don't condemn people for posting spam, but rather for where they post it. The ED has standards (*gasp*). I know this may come as a shock to many, but this forum is the single one throughout the whole of Gaia that was made exclusively for high-level discussion. This does not mean that a topic requires a thirty-page thesis to be deemed acceptable, just that a topic's opening post should be coherent, well-written, easy to read and digest, and should provide a clear-cut topic of discussion and debate. If you're going to make a half-bit piece of s**t, the post it elsewhere, for the ED clearly is the wrong forum for it. However, if you would actually like to put some time and a slight bit of research into your topic, then by all means, post it here. It doesn't have to be perfect, no one expects that. But it should at least be well-defined and literate with a possibility for higher discussion.

You can reply if you think this conversation is going anywhere (though I'm not sure how many different ways there are for you to phrase "I think that my way is right and that everyone else is wrong, and here is why". I know what you're trying to say, I got it from the very first message. I just don't like it.)
