Orifiel's mother had not noticed him when he slipped off back to the ocean. He could tell from her manner, her successful air, that their time here was coming to a very swift end. So he came to say goodbye to the sea. It was rather calm this night but he could very easily tell it could be thunderous, pounding down with giant watery fists on the beach, molding it into a desirable shape. It was an interesting thing, not alive like what they ate but somehow still stronger.
What was more exciting were the creatures that were coming out. The sun was nearly gone but they all seemed to just be waking up. The most curious, of course, was the crab. The way it ran sideways. It wasn't the most clever thing, was it? Ori scurried sideways behind one, trying to imitate it and fell over laughing, tripping over himself.

Mirija went to the sea on a regular basis...at least three times a day. It wasn't hard, since they were a pride of the ocean after all. More surprising was that there was a newcommer there that she hadn't seen before! As she scrambled lightly over some of the rocks that were crashed upon by the waves she spotted a bright shape in the moonlight. Well look at that! It was almost the color of the sea. Almost.
Being the curious, reckless girl that she was she jumped down and darted quickly across the sand, her steps nearly dancing as they went. "Oi! Crab boy!" she called out, her voice spirited and friendly, "Not seen ya round her, have I? Wachyer name, hmm?" She stopped just a few feet in front of him, tilting her black and white head with a infectious smile.

((switching to teal to save our eyes)) His ears perked up at the noise of footsteps on the sand barely audible over the crash of the waves. His mother hadn't come for him, had she? No, the face before him was black and white. He rose to his feet, finding the other about the same size as he with an accented voice. She seemed rather friendly, for indeed, it was a she.
"No you haven't," he replied, cracking a grin. "I'm Orifiel. Not from around here really. Just down for a visit but you're the first person I've met. Well, I mean, my mom was talking to a lioness earlier but you're the first person I've talked to." He was quite openly honest but being sheltered, knew no other way to be. "What's your name?"

"Well aren't you a luck cove then, meet'n me!" Miri jested with a grin and a bit of a playful strut. She was a show-off at heart, she really was. "The names Mirija! Miri's just fine with me, though. Pleasure ta meet ya," she said with a bit of a bob of either a nod or a bow. She siddled over the water, wading through the waves as they rolled in and out casting foam along the sand. "Where ya from, then, if yer here for a visit? I've never been outside the pride, no I haven't. Can't imagine be'n away from the ocean and all."

"Oh I'm from a place way~ away called oo-sheer-keeno Waah-tem-bez-a-jee," he said, kind of struggling to pronounce it. Probably because he had never ever said it before. "And nice to meet you, Mirija!"
"And I admit the ocean's rather pretty but there's a lot of exciting stuff out there too." He gestured with a paw in the opposite direction of the ocean. "I haven't seen too much of it, though."
"But yea, the ocean's pretty exciting for my first time being here," he repeated, eying another crab with excitement.
((note: I don't even know if he/I pronounced it right xD;; sorry about that))

"Coo, that's a right mouthful to say!" Miri said when he named his home, whistling right afterwards. "Got no idea where that there place is! Sounds real far, it does." She stopped before padding over to the other cub and leaning in close to him, "Well o' course it's excit'n! The sea's always a chang'n her moods, so every day is different! An' there's nothing better than liv'n along the water, no suh!"

He looked her in the eye when she leaned in close and then released a laugh. Her accent was so foreign to him and amusing. But he was back to the point of conversation. "Really? The ocean has moods?" The ocean was indeed really cool. However, he felt there was a certain beauty to it that would be tarnished should he live here. And it was almost as if this girl, Mirija, before him was the sea bottled up inside of a person! And that was quite a handful in itself!
And deep down inside him by his heart, there was an invisible thread that tugged him. It told him something he couldn't quite understand except that it was not dragging him towards the sea but away.

"O'course it does!" Miri scoffed, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. But being the type of girl who loved attention, she didn't mind explaining. With a grin she stood back a little, pulling herself high and confident, "Ya see, the ocean's a fine lass who's always o'feeling different things, just like us lion folk. Today I'd say she was right content, with her waves being all gentle and medium like. I've seen 'er on those days where she's right sad, her water's all slow and mopey like. And Coo~! You don't want to see her when she's bloody angry. It's dangerous down by the shore when she is."

"I'll bet it - she's - dangerous!" he exclaimed in return. Being a boy, he clearly began to imagine valiantly saving damsels from a jealous ocean, fighting creatures emerging from its depths to carry out dirty deeds. Or the ocean gathering herself to defend her champion from the dangers that would seek to kill him. He almost imagined that the rain was parts of the ocean, spreading her love onto the earth. But the rain even when it was pelting down in a furry was a savior from the heat and exhaustion so unlike the sea, he could never fear the rain. And he would always love the rain. It was as much of the ocean as he needed.
"So why do you come out here to see the ocean by yourself? Don't you ever wish someone would come with you?"

Miri would have agreed that those gallent fantasies were fun to imagine. Though she never would place herself in the role of "damsel in distress", at least not at this point in her life. She was independent and that was quite obvious. "Yush suh, she is! But not ta worry, mate, I've learned ta read her well an' I'm not too worried 'bout it! Gotta still be careful, but I got that tied down right quick. An' course I'd like some company! Love it, but can't have it all the time, so I come down on my own 'cause I love the sea," she said with a laugh and a grin.

"Where I come from, we have a river and a giant waterhole all to ourselves. It has birds and fish and other creatures who play in it. Sometimes you can stand over it and look down and see the fish playing around, although most of the time it's hide and seek. The seekers aren't very good, though, so I never watch for a very long time," he related. "That's usually where I go when I need ta think."
He couldn't help sharing. It was a defense mechanism one often gets when they start to feel that their home is made to look inferior and want to try and prove otherwise. In a sense, it was also a way to comfort himself to say to himself that he had come from the best place and yes, of course, he wanted to return to it.
