"Hot, hot hot, is' so hot...." The cubbin purred to no-one in particular, paws smacking the water of the small watering-hole she'd found by off-chance. All around her was no shortage of long, waving grass, thriving in the late noon sun, with each whisper of wind (which, today was a blessed gift) ruffling the fronds like ripples on a pond. Gharadi arched her back accordingly as it passed across her warm pelt, this rare moment of concentration spent in solitude.
"Hot, hot. It's so hot...~" The femme called out in a sweet young sing-song voice, closing silver eyes.

The amount of watering holes in the vicinity and the amount her had seen in his last few days of travel was somewhat awe inspiring and also a bit irritating. There seemed to be no end to the collection of them but they were beautiful in sight if not thinking of their true purpose. But, all he kept finding himself in were areas of water holes and really no indication that he was close to some other area. It was like a weird maze... And the grass was almost as tall as himself, making his journey just as difficult.
Xemnas sneezed, halting, as one grass blade managed to get a bit too close to his nostrils, irritating his senses. He shook his white head, letting the feeling pass, his grey hair settling back against his long neck and shoulders. He took the moment of being still to gain a sense of his surroundings. Tall grass, tall grass .. and more tall grass, oh and a rock. Not much different from the last time. The adolescent let out a small sigh, pushing his head through a patch of grace to his left and found himself at another watering hole. It was a smaller than most of the other ones he had seen and seemed to be occupied. In continued silence, and somewhat concealed within the tall grass, he watched the small lioness cub.

Completely oblivious to the arrival of the new face at the vicinity, Gharadi rolled over onto her back, basking in the warm sun with squeezed shut eyes. To her the grass was several things, it was just grass, no, it was much to amusing to be that. It was anything she deemed it. Perhaps a ferocious beast so long and wide that there was no end to it, or a huge, massive jungle full of unseen creatures and treasure.
But then, slipping back from her brief moment of unconsciousness, Gharadi heard the beating of another. The music, and involuntarily, an ear began to twitch. A hum following the music came soon after, and the cub was roused from her nap. Rolling over onto her side, the female looked into the tall grass from wherest the 'song' was coming from and surprisingly, she saw a face. So alien it was, looking towards her, so naturally, she stared right back.

Gold and silver, eyes staring back at one another. The hyena remained silent and unmoving for a few more moments before his own golden eyes blinked, and opened his gaze to look upon the small beach of water before him. For some reason, he felt a little awkward, having just stared at her and now just standing there hidden partly in the tall grasses as she stared back at him.
"My apologies for disturbing you and waking you." Xemnas finally said, in a low monotonic voice. He glanced back at her for a moment, taking in the sights of the bright greens of her coat and then bowed his head in apology and then hesitated before adding, "I seem to keep getting myself lost and wasn't aware I'd encounter someone along in this maze of watering holes."

Soon after the hyena blinked, the lioness did as well, her mouth agape -quite rudely actually- at him. What in the world WAS that? It looked like nothing she'd ever seen! It couldn't be a lion! Could it?
Completely ignoring his apology and explanation, the little green femme stood up, padding right up to the male, completely oblivious that she should be the least bit hesitant or wary of this new face. "OHHHH, what're you? You're weird, why are you so weird looking? Why is your nose all big like that? My daddy doesn't have a big nose, neither does my mother but my brother has a big nose but not like yours like....like wow!"

Xemnas couldn't help but wonder what attracted strange creatures to him, perhaps this was what these lands produced and it made him weary of his next encounter after this one. Was there something in the water? His gold eyes slid over to the small pool next to him as she rambled descriptions, damn.. he had drank some of it too a little earlier.
His gaze slide back to the little green lioness as he took a step back to regain that safe little comfy personal bubble that he cared oh so much about. It took him a moment to respond, trying to digest all she had blurted out. "My name is Xemnas," Introductions easy enough even if ever so blandly stated, "I am a hyena ... I'm presuming you've never seen one of my kind?"

Mimicking him as he took a step backwards, Gharadi clamped down her mouth, a large grin held patiently on her face with perked ears as she waited through that strange little lapse of time that it took other creatures to answer her. She wasn't exactly sure why there was that little bit of silence, maybe the big wide world somehow just, sucked that little time up? She wasn't sure. Of course, she wasn't sure about alot of things, and apparently so were her parents.
"Hi-yeeenuh?" Gharadi tested the word on her tongue, protruding her lower lip to announciate the 'uuuhhh'. "Whas' that?"

Again, Xemnas' eyes darted to the water for another look before resting on the little lioness again. Maybe something in the water wasn't that reasonable of an excuse, besides just plain ignorance and sheltered life from other species. It wasn't like the black and white hyena was any better but he at least knew of what others were by their appearance.
This obviously produced another pause from the end of her question to his response. How was he supposed to explain something like that, it wasn't like he had some scientific knowledge on the matter and if he somehow managed to pull that out of what ever cosmos decided to give him this information, it didn't seem like it could process in her head anyway. That would be a waste of talking and the idea didn't even pop into his own head, he was just clearly stumped. Or maybe, he was just over thinking this like he now seemed to do when faced with inane questions. The hyena's brows creased together slightly in frustration.
"Something that looks like me; as you are a lion, I am a hyena. We are two different species, two of many that live on these lands." Hopefully that would work. Xemnas was really beginning to dislike children....

"Ohhhh~" An almost squeal-like sound emitted from the female's lips, a tail curling happily behind her. "I get it....I get it!" Gharadi let out a giggling laugh, utterly amused for some reason by this new information. Even though really, she didn't get it, but did make a mental note to ask him about it later.
Prancing forwards, the cub took a playful swipe towards Xemnas, before bounding backwards, an obvious invitation to play. She and her siblings played all of the time, so why should being with this other creature be any different?

Xemnas hmmed to himself, unsure of believing her understanding of what he had told her. It was a vague explanation, he was aware from even before he had said it, and her being so young there was much doubt. The hyena didn't press it though, as he wasn't really all that concerned.
And he hmmed again, brows creasing a little further and raised his front paw to evade the playful swipe. The adolescent hyena, as with explaining the differences between them, wasn't unsure of what she was doing and why. He had never played, never been with any sort of sibling. Xemnas had been raised alone and then had been alone for so long that playing was rather lost to him. But no ill intentions seemed to be behind the swipe so he didn't act upon it aside from the dodge and ... stared at her, somewhat questioning her.

Still smiling to herself, the femme lion waggled her hind end, tail flicking back and forth mischievously. To any other cub her age, it was a clear sign what she wanted. But strangely, the hyena didn't respond to her actions, in fact, he seemed not even to know what she was doing!
Stopping, the cub straightened herself up and blinked, cocking her head. A slight frown was upon her features and Gharadi blinked once more. "Was' wrong? Don't you wanna play wit' me?"

The hyena's ears flicked back, a little bit of confusion in his expression and eyes. His body straightened up as his fore paw returned to rest on the ground in front of him. "I'm sorry," his apology starting off in a bland monotonic way lacking much behind it, "I'm not really much one for playing."

Not much fo-? Well, that was just silly! Absolutely unheard of by the young lioness! Who didn't like playing? That was just plain weird.
"Oh." Came her short and, slightly deflated reply, the cat straightening up from her crouched position and sitting upon the ground, tail laid out behind her, twitching occasionally.
"Then....whadaya like to do?" Gharadi inquired, eyes focusing on him, before slowly but surely drawing away until her head was watching a bird to her far left.

Once again, Xemnas was... stumped. He had never given thought to her personal preferences, and now being pressed to answer he had no idea how to respond. The hyena knew he preferred rabbits to any types of birds, servals were nice to eat and he has always wanted to try some of the other animals - but being young he figured it would be a trial to catch something that was so much taller than himself. He preferred the night time, the sun being too much for the black parts of his fur and his gold eyes. Other creatures were nice to meet from time to time, though often annoying in their chatter but they.. did keep him company.
The hyena's ears flicked once, his golden eyes staring at the small lioness, mouth pushed together in continued thought before he opened and responded, "I .. do like walking and traveling .. and learning new things." That didn't seem helpful though, it wasn't like anything they could do right now, did it. And she seemed rather distracted now, eying something to his right. His eyes followed her line of sight, also noticing a bird.

Turning away from the bird at his interesting reply(after a minute or so of odd silence of course), the cub processed what he had said. "Really? Um, well... Oh! Let's do one o' those, den!"
Grinning like a fool at the prospect of doing something fun with this new h'yeeenuh she'd found, Gharadi bobbed her head happily. "Ah walk, I walk all the time! I walked 'ere, and...; I'm traveling with my momma and Daddy and my sister and my brover and my other brover!"
"Bu-wait....How will we learn new things if they're new? Then wouldn't you not know what you were looking for to find?" Even in the darkest of moments there seemed to be a glimmer of hope for the distracted lioness.
