Well I've been cussing a lot... and I keep thinking about the saints and hearing this about bad language.. and it's making me really want to watch my mouth. So I stopped today. the worst thing I said today was asswhole two times and I said sorry for both. rofl They knew I was kidding though, their good friends. But if I want them to stop cussing I need to stop it myself and set a good example. I think what have we come to?
So today I heard a TON of people cussing in the hall or in the locker rooms so I decided I dunno if it's aloud in our school but I'm making a sign and I'm going to put it in the hall way when no one is there and it's going to say.
"I dare you to stop cussing"
Maybe people will see it and be like.. "wtf" or they'll be like "w/e" but in the back of their head they'll remember it and maybe try to stop... I dunno what are your thoughts?

I love it. It's a horrible habit that has become far too common and any reminder ought to trigger at least a twitch of conscience in one or two people!!

I tried this towards the en of the summer, because 2 of my 3 coworkers didn't curse and I realized that it just sounded so much nicer. (It is really adorable to hear someone say "Oh, shoot!" in a Haitian accent too xd ) But I kinda forgot about it when I came back to school.
I'm gonna make another go of it. I honestly don't feel like it's immoral (like a sin) so much as impolite (like picking your nose). But I don't want to go around picking my nose! Also, I've come to see it as rather un-feminine. I think I'm going to ask my boyfriend to stop cursing around me too. If I can start talking like a lady, then he should treat me as one smile

I find it funny that I stumble upon this thread a few weeks after I start cursing regularly. xd It's a sign~
Interesting little thing: My brother says that cursing excessively can hinder you vocabulary-wise, for the reason that you might end up lose your ability to describe things using other words.

Well, as a whole, I don't think it'll work to good. That just because I think most kids are punks now-a-days... stressed
But think you should do it! It's worth the shot, what's there to lose? Lol, I would love to see that at my school. 4laugh

hahahah! i love the idea! thats like all i ever hear at school is obscenity after obscenity. it gets annoying. i know of only two people who dont cuss regularly and thats my methodist friend Alex and my mormon friend brittney oh and one more my baptist friend madison. its horrible to cause alot of my catholic friends do it alot. i try to stop cause i have some much better words *my vocabulary is way too big lol* so ya. ive always liked replacing the words with ones i make up thats more fun anyways XD

"Oh, hamburgers!" is my favorite expression to take the place of cursing. Butters is so cute!
And yes, I do realize the irony of referencing South Park in a convo about not cursing.

I'm working on stopping my cussing too.
I usually say something along the lines of "GOD D....ARGH!!!!"
I stop myself at the d. I'm working on it though ^_^

I will stop!! heart blaugh I'm gonna give it another try too. Not just "bad words" though, I never get too far with that... I think I'll make an effort towards being more Christian in my speech in general. Shouting, gossiping, and poorly-thought-out-comments-that-turn-out-to-be-rude are probably more serious problems for me than foul language, but attacking the problem from all sides at once seems like the best way to go.

I used to cuss regularly too because my mum and my friend do....but....saying snot boggle it and ack you and I just got nilbogged. xD Well, it's just sooo much more fun. xD I go to a Christian school, so you'll get severe punishment for cussing in class, but at sleepovers and stuff, my friend and I have a cuss fest.......Snotboggle it, I'm awful. T.T I will prevail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! btw, if you play D&D (you probably don't) then you'll know that a nilboggle is a creature that can cause people to do things backwards and speak funny, so when I say something wrong and it comes out really funny, I got nilbogged. Wow, I'm in class right now and people are joking about Obama being the end of the world. xDDD apparently I'm the girl with the good bow shot. lol. Nilbog!!! Peace be with you! <3
