I expect all of you have-at some time or another-taken a standerized test in school. I'd like you opinions of them. Are they good? Bad? Pointless? Meaningful? Should we continue to use them, or discontinue using them? Do they really measure your intelligence levels, or not?

A standardized test is designed to measure academic progress on a vast scale. This makes them very efficient and useful. They're also tested over and over again by the creators, to make sure it can be given as a standardized test.
They don't measure intelligence. They measure how much you've stored and kept in your brain. They push away from creativity and free-thinking. That's bad.
The school systems have a curriculum they have to follow revolving around these tests. Some teachers go off on their own schedules, but there aren't many, at least where I'm from.
If you want to create a bunch of drones, standardized tests are perfect. But if you want people to think for themselves, then no, they're not good at all.
