Rules
These be the Official Rules of this here Piratin' RP!
1. NO GODMODDING. Duh.
2. No murder of other characters without consent. Another DUH.
3. Be violent, but be polite about it. I love swearing as much as the next filthy pirate, but please. PG-13 pirate language, please. There ARE kids here.
4. Be realistic. "I SLAASH U WIT MAH SORRD AND JOHN DIEES!!!" is a posting sin: You just godmodded, performed an unrealistic action, and used terrible illiteracy. FOLLOW DA RULES.
5. Please no one-liners... for the love of rum... if you have writer's block a two-line post is understandable, but please GOD no one-liners.
6. Romance allowed, but please. Don't steam up the screen too much. Again, PG-13. Respect those with innocence not pertaining to pirating.
7. Just because the guidelines say pirates play dirty doesn't mean you always get to. Otherwise we'd never get anywhere. Someone has to lost at some point. Better to lose the battle and win the war some other way.
8. Think on your feet and you'll succeed. Creativity is key.
9. Mods reserve the right to make the final determination. NO BUTS.
Piratin' "Guidelines"
Note: As anyone who has ever watched Pirates of the Carribean #1 knows, these "guidelines" are up for interpretation. HOWEVER, mods still reserve the right to make the final decision.
1. Any man what falls behind is left behind.
2. The captain goes down with his ship. Whether or not he stays down is a different story.
3. Pirates don't always play fair. Get used to it.
4. Striking the colors [pulling down your ship's flag] means you surrender.
5. Flying a YELLOW flag means you have fatally ill [not injured, but ill] pirates aboard. NOT TO BE MISUSED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
6. The Jolly Roger is a sign of fraternity amongst the pirates. You see it, and you know it's a pirate ship. If you see a national flag, you better broadside 'em before they turn you in.
7. MUTINY IS PUNISHABLE BY DEATH. If you're gonna rebel, do it right the first time.
8. Enemies on board = A Bad Thing. Deserted islands to maroon them on are your best friends.
9. Every pirate needs a sanction. Therefore, we have both Tortuga and Blood Bath Bay. No man shall be harmed on these islands of sanction (unless it be a bar fight... then anything goes.)
10. STAY AWAY FROM ANY TRAITOR THAT HAS LETTERS OF MARQUE.

Other: Brien's signature "gimmick" when taking down an enemy chip is to shoot down the mast, then blow the ship to within an inch of her life. Plotline -- You are HerePlotline:
We are Pirates. The goal of pirating is to steal, pillage, plunder, and generally destroy everything in sight that isn't shiny and/or valuable.
The nations of the world have finally caught on to the issue of "piracy" and have sent out naval troops to bring the pirates down. The pirates are all against the capture teams, but at the same time wish to be the most successful pirate in the world. Backstabbing is not uncommon, although pirates share a mutual distaste for the naval troops.
Evading the rest of the world isn't an easy task-- but what's the fun of stealing if no one's trying to catch you?

Jack stands at the bow of his ship, the Shadow Dancer, staring off at the horizon and ejoying the salty breeze on his face. "Times like this almost make everything worth it. A hold full of plunder, a skilled crew to defend it, and a comfortable night in Tortuga to look forward to." With a broad grin he turns to return to his cabin for the remainder of the trip. "CAPTAIN. SHIP ON THE HORIZON" The call rings out over the ship from the crows nest. With a heavy sigh Jack returns to the bow of the ship and takes out his spyglass. "So much for an uneventful trip to Tortuga."

"AHA! That's the Shadow Dancer!" one of the crewmen below shouted up. Jessie came sliding down the ropes.
"GANGWAY!" She ran to the bow, shouting to the crew, "Be prepared for sudden battle!"
"Are we to take the first shot?" the first mate asked.
Jessie smiled. "No, o' course not. Don't fire unless fired upon... but after that, blast the heck outta that piece of driftwood!"

Peering through the spyglass at the approaching ship, the wide grin returns to Jacks face. "Well now, that would be The Davy Jones' Death." Turning from the bow, he raises his voice to address the crew. "What do you think, lads? One last gamble before we make port?" A unanimous shout is raised as well as several weapons and fists. "Well then, hoist the colors, and bring the long nines into position! Place your bets, and lets deal them their hand. We'll see how well Miss Jones plays this round." The orders are followed with a flurry of activity and random betting involving who wins, who loses, who will be first to board, and which ship will be in one piece after the clash. Swiftly the flag is raised depicting a single rapier behind a spade set on top of a white diamond.

"DON'T even THINK about firing," Jessie snapped. "Not until you can see bullets flying everywhere!"
"Aye!"
"Captain... why the defensive approach?" the first mate asked quietly.
Jessie frowned, watching the Shadow Dancer approaching. "We're low on ammunition. We hafta get through this battle, and hopefully make port in Tortuga in one piece tonight. Tomorrow we set out for Blood Bath Bay, and we'll need the supplies. We can't afford to waste any now."
"But Captain--"
"I AM THE CAPTAIN OF THIS SHIP AND MY ORDERS WILL BE OBEYED!" Jessie shouted, shoving the first mate aside as she scaled the mast to the crow's nest.

As the Shadow Dancer approaches a Look of puzzlement crosses Jacks face. Turning, he leaves the bow and approaches the man at the wheel."Halt the ship outside of firing range and hail them. I don't like the way their just sitting there, it could be a trap." Looking out at the other ship, the wheelman turns the Shadow Dancer to starbord and begins a slow circle around. He then turns to the captain and responds. " I don't think so, captain. their riding high in the water, which suggest their low on supplies. since we're nearly fully loaded, we ride low in the water which slows us down. the best course of action in this case would be to come at us either from the front or back, and fire before we could turn. Since they already have the advantage, It would be my guess that they have exhausted or else nearly exhausted their ammunition and are waiting for us to make the first move."
