Post your ideas, beliefs, thoughts, opinions, and such, of western religeon here. If you believe god is dead, there is no god, or something like that, then go to the God? topic in religeon.(this is not on official rule, but should be considered as one.

Why bother asking for opinions, with a silly stipulation like that?

Well I'm not sure which thread I fit in... I don't fit in too well with theists or atheists when you get right down to it. I do believe that there's something there, which is what people identify as different deities... I used to think it was the Christian version of God, because that was what I was taught while growing up. I never used to question my religious beliefs, even though I'd question pretty much anything else - but once I learned that it was okay to question religion as well, I discovered that Christianity's version of God didn't work for me.
You could call me an atheist - in fact, I consider myself an atheist of sorts, though I identify more as a humanist, since I think the philanthropic side of things is more important - but you could also call me a theist of sorts if you wanted to make a case for it. A theistic atheist? I'm a contradiction.
I believe there's some sort of "something" out there that unites living and nonliving matter; I can feel it every single day. I just don't think it's necessarily a conscious entity or being. Needless to say, I don't fit in with most conservative religions and definitely not any orthodox ones. I'm actually looking into converting to liberal Judaism, as I agree with a lot of their theology and the fact that they debate about the nature of God and they don't agree with each other. It shows that they're willing to be open minded and correct themselves if they turn out to be wrong, which is something that the type of Christianity I grew up with won't do. Liberal Jews don't necessarily disagree with my theistic atheism, either - definitely a plus! razz
