What are your general thoughts on the Magi-Nation cartoon?
  It's awsome!
It's good. But it could be better.
It's not really good. But at the same time it's not really bad either.
It's... Pretty bad. But not as bad as I thought.
It inhales with much force vigor and velocity and should never have been made.
  Undecided.

Since the show has been on for a few weeks now, I figured it was about time for there to be a proper thread for the show in it's entirety to be discussed in.

On to the opinion that I've gotten about the show so far.
Other than the YouTube video with commentary that Fosfur posted, I havn't actually had the chance to see a whole episode. But of what I have seen, I'll be the first to admit that it's really not all that bad. But it definately could have been better. Especially the opening music. That made my ears bleed.

Hmm. Overall, I hate to say it, but I like it. I'm trying my best to judge it by itself, not taking into account how it's changed from what we know and love for that result. The animation isn't bad, and frankly, I kind of like the intro theme. It's catchy.
The irks:
-Korg and Zet got downgraded to both being bumbling buffoons.
-The whole eco-friendly vibe I'm getting. Sure, there was already the Captain Moon schtick, but even so, this is a bit much. I half expect 'Eden' to pop up at the end of each show with a Magineer Alert.

Even so, I still like it. If the new card game is different from the old one, I will be sad, but I'll still probably get it. (If I have the money.)

xd
If they ever add anything like a Magineer (lawl) alert, I will laugh histerically, then deny the show's existance.

My only hopes for the cardgame at this point are that they don't use screenshots from the show as card art. As I said in another topic, the only card game I've played where this was acceptable was Ani-Mayhem.
My other hope is that they leave gEngine alone and let them continue with the original game. Even though the new game will obviously be different in at least some ways, that wouldn't stop them from closing it down if they want to.

All right, I finally had a chance to watch a couple of episodes.
Last weeks (which was a rerun), and this weeks in the weave.
I'm kind of unhappy with a lot of the creature designs, but at least the bungaloo, weave arboll, and balamant (not the pup) look really similar to the original design. Granted the other creatures don't look horrible, they just could look better.
The only creature that I've seen in the show that I'm very, very unappy with, was the weave guardian "Hyren".
It looked more like an anthropomorphic parrot. -_-
Hopefully the other Hyrens didn't look similar. gonk

Other than that though, it's really not bad, I kind of like it too. And at least the Shadow Guysers still corrupt things. But I kind of miss the thing where Korg & Zet are the ones planting the Guysers. Or at least I'm pretty sure that's what they did. It's been a while since I read the related fiction or played the game. xd

I'm pretty disappointed with the cartoon. I remember the prototype CGI from several years ago and that looked better. It was more accurate, anyway.
They didn't have to switch from animite rings to lumps and chunks.
Agram went from being a tall, dark badass whose "eyes were taken for seeing the secrets of evil" to an aged elf LARPer goth wannabe going through a life crisis.
Uggers are not Naroom and are not Bulbasaur clones.
Freeps are not Parmalags.

Old school original Magi-Nation Duel forever!

Yeah, overall I'm not being terribly impressed with the Hyrens. Sure, some aren't bad, but overall, just meh. And from two episodes back, a big two-headed dragon, one red head, the other blue? One of the heads sounded like Gilbert Gottfried. No. Just no.
(Nothing against Mr. Gottfried, he's pretty funny. Just not for a role like this.)

I really think the show is about 20 years after it's time. If this had come out in the days of Voltron and Transformers, it would have kicked butt. But now, it's nowhere near as good as other things that are being produced nowadays.

And they did mess up a lot of the world it seems like. I wish they had kept the original Agram design.

Oh yes, the Core is badly messed up. The old Agram was awesome and really seemed to fit as the leader of the Core what with his armor and coolness. This Agram isn't nearly as imposing, he's just ugly. I haven't seen much of the show, but if the first episode was any indication, then Korg and Zet aren't nearly as awesome or funny as they once were. If Morag and Wudge don't make an appearance then the region will be completely ruined.

yeah the name change to Zet to Zed what up with that? plus I like him as a shorter person... from what little I've seen

Yeah, Zet kind of got nerfed, including a major drop in IQ. A shame. I personally doubt that Morag is even going to make an appearance, hopefully I'll be wrong, though. And for what it's worth, I thought there might have been a Wudge in the show already. (Admittedly a Forest Wudge, but a Wudge nonetheless.)

Well, I am glad to see that other than some of the central and a few minor characters from the game (Orwin, Tony, Strag, Tryn, Eidon), the rest of the characters still look pretty much the same, with a few changes. Though I was rather disapointed in the Arderial episode with Nimbulo turning traitor.
