I'm surprised I haven't made a thread for this. It's one of my favorite game series.

It's also the series Marth and Roy (SSBM) come from.
Marth first appeared in the first Fire Emblem: Dragon of Darkness and Sword of Light (I may have switch the two on accident XP), and in the remake Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, which was the third game. Neither of which were released in America.
Roy first appeared as the hero of the sixth of the series Fire Emblem: Fuuin no Tsuguri (I probably spelled that wrong). That was Japan only. He also made an appearance at the butt end of the seventh game Fire Emblem: Recca no Ken or Fire Emblem as it's known in America, since it was the first in the US.

The games in America are from Seven on.
7 - Fire Emblem (Recca no Ken)
8 - Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones
9 - Fire Emb;em: Path of Radiance
10 - Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn (soon)

Usually, there are two games in the series that are related.
Example:
Fire Emblem: Recca no Ken is the PREquel to Fire Emblem: Fuuin no Tsuguri. I'm not sure why, but it is.
And actually, they should be played six then seven. Other wise you get attached to Eliwood and Hector and you get upset when they die in six. Of all the things Eliwood could die from, it was a disease. Much as that was common in those days... crying

Moving on. Any one play those games?
I've played ROMS of three and six. And I've played all three of the current versions in America. I beat seven, I'm working on nine and when I get eight back I'll demolish that one too.

My favorite FE character overall is Marth. :3 He doesn't wear pants and he's got a pretty face, what more can you ask?
MY favorite FE 6 character thus far is Lance. I haven't gotten very far, FE6 is hard. And Roy does not help.
My favorite FE7 character is Matthew. Awesome character, even if he is a weak unit. XP
My favorite FE8 character is Joshua! Awesome character!
My favorite FE9 character is Mordecai. He's so sweet, it's adorible!!! biggrin

So please discuss your favorite characters/units. Feel free to be specific. Though not every one may understand the terminology, so let me help. If you think I should add anything, let me know.

WOW!!! I've also played a few FE games (roms only).
I've played FE7 (the first one released in America) and beaten it. My favourite characters are Mathew, Serra, Lucius, Will, Lynn, Florina, Erk, Rebecca, Priscilla and Canas. I also played the 3 ones for SNES, but in japanese, so... since I didn't understand a thing, I dunno the characters' names nor how I was supposed to complete the chapters. But from those 3, the one I liked most was the 5th.

Marth, I believe you sorely misjudge the majority of the Fire-Emblem loving community. People who play 7 first are HAPPY when Eliwood dies in 6. Soley because Eliwood is useless in 7. Roy is good if you take time to make sure he gets good.

I've only completed Fire Emblem 9 but OH MY GAWSH I LOVED IT TO PIECES. I am on my third playthrough and am officially hooked. I DON'T EVEN OWN THE GAME AHAHAHA!!!

(Which reminds me... I should return it to Andrew... in two more years...)

Favourite character = Soren. Because he's a lovable emo little child. And he's probably the same height as me. None of this hulking large business. He's short! Hurray! I like Ike too... he's one of the few main characters I actually don't mind. He's a cheeseball, but one that scowls a lot. Umm... I also like Shinon because he's a jerk (and a sniper). Oh, and Reyson because he's pretty. And tall. (And slightly a jerk.)

As for people I like to use... Ike (you kind of have to... plus Aether is awesome), Soren, Oscar (he can hit people with his eyes closed!), Boyd (strawberry... after class-change he's a FURRY strawberry), Shinon, Rhys (because he heals people), Zihark (killing machine), Calill (killing machine), Volke when he's an assassin (self-explanatory killing machine), Nephenee (she's a freaking tank / killing machine) and Reyson (because he's the handiest person in existence, what with all the magical-singing and freakishly-long-neck-waving-healing-adjacent-units powers). As for other people I sometimes use, it's Janaff, Lethe and Ranulf. And Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar........

Why do I like such unlikable characters? It confuses me. Laguz

(Side Note: I'm the only person who picked Anima Magic as a weapon of choice ahaha... although bows would've came second.)

You know I find it a little hard to believe that path of radiance is 9 and sacred stones is 8. Sacred stones had so many more units then path of radiance and an interesting map system to it. I'm not saying that I didn't like 9 just that it felt like a downgrade from 8. Also the criticals didn't look as flashy and cool as they did in the GB series.

Actually, Nine was much more harder than eight and better in a lot of ways. I know it's your opinion and everything, but whatever. But nine had harder levels, often more likable characters(though eight has plenty as well), and the advanced skills system.

And ten is mismatched. It's a good story and a lot of good characters, but it was widespread and they screwed a lot of the best features during it, such as Supports.

You know, now that GBA games have dropped in price a bit more, I've begun to wonder if I should buy The Sacred Stones. What does everyone else think? Should I? I've also wondered, what's so good about this one? Does it have cooler features than the first one for the GBA?

BTW, has anyone seen the news of a FE game coming out for the Nintendo DS? I've heard that it's supposed to be the remake of the first FE to feature Marth so maybe it's the very first one. I wonder if I should save for that one instead of buying "The Sacred Stones"... neutral

Correct. The first Fire Emblem game was called "Dragon of Darkness and Sword of Light" in English. In Japan, this DS version was called "New Dragon of Darkness and Sword of Light". The levels are all the same too, they've just been upgraded to look lovely. <3 The ended is actually watered down, sadly, in the first game, your adventure was in vain because after the game ends Altea is utterly destroyed by a different kingdom. In this new one, they removed that and gave them a happy ending.
I've actually beaten the game. It was quite short, unfortunately. But I feel happy because I kept Marth's girlfriend alive, not that that's hard to do. XD

Really? I don't have as much time for FE and other games I'm trying now but I will play this again later for sure. This game feels like Advance Wars but, somehow, it feels to be better than that one cuz I kinda ended up disliking Advance Wars after a while (don't ask). rolleyes
