Lets face it. This site is growing bigger and bigger each year. Soon it will regularly have 1oo,ooo people on everyday.
It is obvious that a huge chunk of these people are going to be noobs. It's a sad fact as the site grows bigger, more and more people that are simply idiotic will join.
Not only will the forums become more infested with idiocy, but it will be impossible to generate responses simply because one's thread will go unnoticed. To get any kind of response in Gaia's most active forum, the chatterbox, it is necessary to bump one's thread multiple times, even that's not foolproof. Not to mention the responses that are generated will be minimal at best.
So what is to be done?
How do we separate the intelligent, yet fun-loving population of Gaia?
A separate forum. Not a guild, since those die too easily, but a separate forum. One where only those who can use proper grammar, be kind, and just hang out.
here is how it works. The forum is kept a "secret" until a user reaches a certain number of posts, than a private message will be sent inviting him/her to the guild. There will be a fee to serve as a further way to deter noobs and also a gold sink of 2k or so.
A link will than appear under that person's quick links, (preferably on the top) and in the Community tab. This is to encourage frequent visitation.
The forum will be exactly the same as the main one's, just for those on Gaia that has "proven their worth" so to speak.
AHA! But people can still get in by bumping, spamming, and still be idiots!
Wrong!
Anybody that has a warning two weeks prior to reaching the required posts, will have to start again. If he/she gets into the forum and "disturbs the peace" he/she will have to do battle with Kungfu Lanzer. Alright, fine, they'll just be banned from teh forum and have to start again, this time with MORE posts to make, and MORE gold to earn to get in.
It's only fair right?
What's going is people that are not noobs, will simply be in a community free of idiots. Anybody can join. They just have to have experience in "forum etiquette" and good grammar. Yes, that should be a requirement for that forum.
So any thoughts? I'm sure you all will have plenty since I just spent 30 minutes typing this up. xd
