And so I come to you.
I am not a practicing anything. I have no religion, since I have renounced Christianity. I was never happy as a Christian. I do not believe in Jesus, as most of you here do not, I think.
A friend of mine introduced me to the branches of Paganism, and I'm hooked. I really am. However, I've seen a lot of negativity towards "Insta-Witch" or the "Fluffy Bunnies." So my question is, how besides doing my own research would I be considered a Pagan who didn't just become one overnight? If this makes sense I mean. I do NOT want to be considered a fluffy bunny, it's mildly insulting in my opinion.
So any advice?

Listen more than speak, get to know people, ask questions, don't assume, be courteous. You're still going to get some negativity and all, since you're new. Just don't let it get you down. Keep at it, and learn from anything and anywhere you can. Just don't be too broad, and try and stay away from anything that seems overtly positive and too fixated on "love and light." Nature is law, not love. Nature is divine. The lion eats the lamb, and the tornado is an awesome force of nature that awakens mankind. It's all designed to keep us in check. Respect it, and it will respect you. Same goes for your peers. Yep... I think that's enough for now. How are you doing with things since posting this by the way?

Well I've been doing a lot of reading, not just online, and one of my friends, the one who introduced me to Paganism, has been really helpful. He lets me borrow his books, and if I have a question that I just can't find an answer to, he helps me out. He's been really good through all this considering that he's not holding my hand in any means necessary. I like the self-study.
I decided to undertake the year and a day study before I declare myself an actual Pagan. He and I talked about it and he thought it would be a good way for me to study more, to learn more, before being able to honestly say I'm Pagan.
Thank you for replying, I was kinda thinking I was abandoned here.

Not at all. I'm not usually active in this guild, but I'm giving that a change since becoming more active in Völkish faiths. Getting in touch with that spiritual tie to the line of my people. Lo, there do I see my father. Lo, there do I see my mother, my sisters and my brothers. Lo, there do I see the line of my people, back to the beginning. Lo, they do call me to me. They bid me take my place amongst them. In the halls of Valhalla, where the brave, they live, forever.

Keeping an open mind about new paths is also a good thing though... with paganism being so broad and covering so many areas of belief, there isn't just one set way to go about things. Try to find out what you believe, rather than pushing your beliefs into a pattern that others tell you is right. That's where all the research comes in handy lol! Everyone has a different path that's right for them, so don't discount anything off the bat just because one person tells you it's wrong 3nodding you've got to figure out what's right for you yourself, no-one else can tell you that. Give good advice about it, yes. But in the end the decision has to be up to you.
Hope that helped!

Most of us start out fluffy... and it just takes lots of learning to not become so fluffy... it doesn't happen overnight, and most understand that and will work to help you, not many jump down your throat just because your fluffy, and those that do probably shouldn't be teaching anyway. ^_^
