Welcome to The Shoujo-Ai & Yuri Guild!

User Image

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We're glad to have you here! Before you get to enjoying this guild, however, there are rules that you need to keep in mind when posting and replying to threads. Please read the Constitution (Article III, Section I) for more details.
Captain: MistressPaco
Vice-Captains:
Crew: Winget, ~GirlxPride~, kageling
Part-time Crew: SilverMaple, Lady Gyrfalcon, S a f f r o n S u g a r, Drakie Cakie
~~~~~~~~

Donations to the Guild

Please send guild donations to the guild account, Shoujo Ai no Kifu. Funds submitted directly to the guild can currently only be used to buy subforums, so they aren't very useful.

All gold donated to Shoujo Ai no Kifu will go directly back into the guild as funding for events, contests, and so on. :] We really don't have a source of funding for these otherwise.

Important: Starting in 2007, there will be a zero tolerance policy in regards to violations of Gaia's PG-13 rules. All users who violate these policies will be permanently banned.

If you are not absolutely sure what images, stories, roleplays, or PM requests are not completely clean, please refrain from posting them and consult a crew member for clarification. Otherwise, you may be banned from the guild.

Article III - Policies

Constitution Violation Policy: We reserve the right to handle Constitution violations as we see fit. Members may receive anything from a mild warning to an outright ban on their membership. Any threads that violate the constitution can and will be removed without notice. Action against members who violate the TOS may be retroactive and may not happen at the same time as the actual violation.

Filesharing Policy: You may not share or solicit links or sites with unauthorized filesharing (downloading) of licensed materials. This includes, and is not limited to, fansub sites, scanlation sites, "free" music sites, bittorrent directories, mirc channels, filesharing sites, direct download links.

Flaming Policy: We do not tolerate flames and personal attacks to other members. Depending on the situation, you may be warned or banned outright for abusive behavior towards your fellow members.

Ignorance is not Bliss Policy: It is your responsibility to be aware of Gaia's TOS and our Constitution rules and policies. Claiming ignorance of these rules does not exempt you from the consequences of violating them. It is up to you to read the rules, if you chose not to do so, you do so at your own detriment.

Linking Policy: You may not link or direct people to any site above PG-13 in nature. This includes both direct or indirect links. An indirect link is anything from a full site.com to directions on how to get to a site.

Misplaced Threads Policy: The crew can and will move and/or delete threads as they see fit at any time without warning.

Scanslation Policy: The guild's official stance on scanslations is that you may not post scanslated manga, links, or advice on how to acquire scansated manga. You may discuss scanslated titles that you've read, but no links are allowed. Encouraging users to PM you to share links will get you warned by a crew member and your post deleted. Remember, scanslations are against Gaian TOS.

Official Gaia Policies

For curious about our guild rules and how we write them, here's basically how it goes. While we are free to set our own rules and enforce them as we see fit, our Constitution is actually based off of Gaia's own rules. Rules that have come into question in the past are posted here.

Gaia's Official Download Policy

Quote:
Copyrighted Material: Regarding downloads, threads having links to web sites or other resources containing illegal downloads or streaming episodes of anime and/or manga are not permitted on the forums. Asking for or giving out such content is a warnable offense and any topics or posts created for such a purpose will be removed. Note: Linking to a site that contains copyrighted materials, even if you aren't linking to the materials in question, i.e. a picture gallery when the site contains a media page with downloads of manga, is still considered linking to copyrighted materials and a ToS violation. Any and all threads asking for download links of any sort will be removed from the forum and the creator punished if necessary. The only exception to this rule will be sites with streaming episodes that are officially provided by the owner companies, an example of such a site would be toonamijetstream.com.

Gaia complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act which can be read here.

Gaia's Stance on Hentai

Quote:
Regarding Hentai: Gaia Online is rated PG-13 and as such all content should be kept at that level. As stated in the Terms of Service the only exceptions to the rule are made on a case-by-case basis to allow for freedom of speech. Discussion about hentai should be kept within a reasonable level and should not include a behavior/language soliciting explicit activities, cybering, or threads created for the sole purpose to spam. Posting hentai images, links to hentai images and/or fiction as well as other adult related material are not permitted in AMC and other forums in Gaia. This rule also apply for Yaoi and Yuri.

Donations

This is the guild account, Shoujo Ai no Kifu. AhJeong named this account to mean "Shoujo Ai Donations," if you're wondering where it came from.

If you're donating to the guild, please send it as a trade/gift to this account. This way, we can use the money for contests and other events since the guild bank funds can only be used to buy subforums (which we don't need). Thanks!

Oh, and, if you're not getting a response on a trade, PM kageling about it. It is likely that she has forgotten to check, heh.

Literacy

We need some literacy in this guild.

And by literacy I mean that your posts should live up to the following criteria - however, keep in mind that typos/occasional spelling errors etc. are fully acceptable - we just really want you to try to type coherent messages.

And I'm not saying that you're all illiterate, either - in fact, most of the crew is rather proud of your awesomely awesome skills - it's just that some of you might need to try a bit harder.

1. Avoid chatspeak. It’s difficult and unpleasant to read, and makes you look rather dumb. Proper English is to be used at all times, except when it is used in a humorous sense (mockery or some such). One or two sentences of chatspeak is okay, but please, keep it to a minimum.

2. New sentences always start with a capital letter. This is an oft-forgotten rule, unfortunately. Please do use capitals when starting a new sentence, as goes for names, titles, countries, languages etc.

3. Mixing upper and lowercase, symbols, text sizes, colours, and numbers is discouraged. Numbers are not, and will never be letters, nor will symbols. Changing other factors makes the text painful to read, and for the comfort of your fellow guild members, avoid it.

4. Please use proper spelling. If you have trouble with this, please download a spell-check program for your internet browser and it will make things far easier for you.

5. Excessive punctuation is annoying.
Try not to use more than three exclamation marks, full stops and question marks when typing.

6. Furthermore, do use proper punctuation. There is a dire lack of commas in this world. End a sentence with a full stop, question mark, or exclamation mark – or use other types of punctuation appropriately.

7. About quotation – avoid quoting lengthy posts, and if the post you’ve quoted contains an image, remove the IMG-tags.

8. Using the Japanese language all the time is a bit silly. If you’re not in Japan, talking to Japanese people, using their language is pointless. The exceptions would be if it’s a proverb or something, but usually it’s just a no-no. People tend to think less of those who use words like “desu”, “kawaii” and “konnichiwa” excessively.

9. Emoticons should be used sparingly. Do not misuse them. For example, do not post the same emote in a looong, annoying row in your post, and similarly, do not post with only an emote in your post. Words are sort of necessary.

If you’re unsure about your typing skills, read your message through, maybe even out loud. If you think it is clear and understandable, it is probably okay – but remember to keep the rules in mind!

Remember! Type out your words fully, and use capitals, punctuation and spelling at all times!

Here’s an example of a good message, and a (really) bad message:

Bad message:
Quote:

O well ill see u l8r!!!!!!!!<333333
We R s0 guNnA cAch UP, ok???
xoxoxoxoxo

This is the same message, but not stupid:

Quote:

Are you sure? I mean, last time you told me that she went to live in Amsterdam. Anyway, what have you been up to? I went to the countryside for the holidays. Oh, and I totally saw this really cute guy on the bus. Didn’t catch his name though, pity.
Oh well, I’ll see you later! We are so gonna catch up, okay? <3
Hugs & Kisses

See, not so hard, is it? biggrin Now you try!
