Ok, I have been given, by a member of this guild, the Idea to have shops in the cities in which you'd buy weapons, potions, supplies, etc. with gaia gold. It sounds complected to keep up with all this and if you have already used the things you bout. So I wanna here your ideas to see if we can figure this out.

Okay, a shop sounds good. But their are many problems. First off, if you use a currency to purchase items, you have to have a source of that currency. A peasant is not going to have near as much access to money as a lord. (new recruit to general). Also, If you can buy a weapon, it totally disregards the current setting of rank to weapon rules we have for combat. It also makes healers pointless if you can carry potions with you. Another problem is raiding. Something my goblins just did in Barton. I didn't have them do it stricly for the item gain (which at this point is purely RP), but more for the developement as to the goblins personality without their leader to control them. However, this act bypasses all need of currency if I can just force goods from peasants. And let's face it without the threat of innocent people being able to be hurt, their is no reason for heroes. I mean, our entire first battle stemmed from that. I don't think using actual Gaia gold is a good idea. Awarding in-game currency to active players on a participatory basis would problably be most enificial. Like every friday at a specified time award everyone 50 Repu's (Republic currency) or 50 Durre (Imperial currency) for every day of the week they participated. Higher rank would recieve slightly higher pay, but not too much as to atract feeling of unfairness to lower rank players. Award the plaers, not the characters. This whole bit should improve general participation. Posts only count for reward if they were meaningful. just typing that your character walks into town and notes the architecture will not pass as a worthy post. All you need is one good post for the day to get credit. This will be needed to be kept n top of by several Mods so that their are no flops or favoritism concerning "worthy" posts. We might finnally be able to use that crew only room for some thing now.
As far as what you can purchase, this should b HEAVILY discussed as it will drasticly change the way this game is played.
P.S. Dreccas, even though I'm not a teen I've rocked out every, damn day for at least 13 of my 23 years!! twisted

Sounds good, but we'd also have to bring in revenue. To pump out that much gold we'd have to have something for ppl to buy. To solve the problem of buying certain things make certain ppl obsolete is to make it where only certain people could buy certain things. Like healers can only buy healing supplies with maybe the exception of a first aid kit that would heal one heart or something. As for the weapons, I guess we could make it that when you get promoted a rank you have to buy that new weapon you get. I dunno that seems a lil' weird though.
Then you have the robbing thing. This won't be a problem seeing that you can only rob real characters and not NPC. The real characters have a way to defend themselves. This could determine if you really get anything from them.
Perhaps we could have fake currencies for RPing and buying little things and then Gold as a Higher currency to do real bargaining with.
I dunno how we'd keep up with who has what though, not to mention the fact that you can get gold anywhere on Gaia. So this would lead to rich peasants.

What we can do to keep track of items and currency is keep a topic open in the System Management sub-forum so that we can allot In-game gold (not gaia gold) to the players. This is basicly like a bank statement showing how much you have. Shops will have to be kept a close eye on so that we automaticly deduct cash from their "account". Items held and owned should be kept track of on the character sheets by their respective buyers. Once items are used, stolen, etc. the owner will be given a day's leniency to remove them from the list. If not, a mod will do it and issue a reminder, then a warning. Furthr failure to comply would result in a ban from shops, but not necessarily the game. We will need volunteers that get online on a regular basis to play the part of shop owners.

That sounds great. To further prevent cheating the shop owners could post in the system management sub all the items sold. But what about personal trades? I also put in the rules that bystanders can own shops. I could post a topic that would allow someone to apply for being a shop owner.
How much gold should be given to everyone?
We have 8 republic ranks, (which special beings would fall under) 3 social ranks for bystanders, 1 rank for loners.
Each should probably get different amounts. Then what about weapons? I mean you don't get handed free weapons everyday. I guess that you'd be given your first four weapons and than any others that you get you'd have to buy. All current characters don't have to pay for the weapons they already have.

Well the rank is easy. With my previous stated system of awarding, give a 20 incriment to lower ranks, for every rank add 5 to that incriment.
So say a 1st rank soldier made three significant posts during the week, he would get 150 gold.
If he was a second rank, it would have been 165 gold instead.
I don't know about the bystanders and loners. But they should be considerably lower. We should keep the numbers low for simplicity. Remember, at one time candy bars cost a nickle. lol.

I completely Agree. I don't want it like the Japanese Yen and it be like 300,000 is equal to only 50 bucks. As for the rest I will prolly set in stone tomorrow and get things going.
