well, stuff has happened with my astral plain stuff, and for the last few days it seems like every time i think of somebody i can almost see them, not like remembering what the person looks like but getting almost like an image of what they are doing and where they are. i think i might be starting to get an ability along the lines of scrying, so, i was wondering what i should look into for seeing about developing it, like how to make a scrying glass and things like that.
apologies if i am misspelling scrying, as my browser is telling me its misspelled but has no spelling suggestions.

Scrying refers to any form of divination that is not oracular... that is, it doesn't use a prescribed set of symbols and the drawing of lots (e.g. runes, tarot, I Ching, etc). Instead the practitioner more freely sees symbols in a particular medium, the medium being highly varied. We're more likely to think of crystal ball reading and mirror gazing as scrying, but tasseomancy is also a form of scrying as is reading smoke patterns, running water, leaping flames, etc.
There are a few things you need to be able to do to scry. Firstly you need to be open to intuitive judgements in order to see anything in the first place. What you get with scrying isn't the sort of crystal clear, clear cut obviousness you'll get with an oracle system like Tarot. You have to find the images... they won't be laid out for you on a silver platter. Secondly, once you find the images, you have to have a broad enough understanding of symbology to be able to interpret them. You need to know how both you and some common cultures see a particular image on the symbolic level. Third, like with any system you've got to have patience; it's a skill that takes time to develop. Personally I'm just starting to pick up on a scrying system more, so I'm not as good at it yet as I am with my chosen oracular system.
For getting started... pick a medium you connect with. If you really like staring into smoke, scry in the curls of incense. If you like water, a simple black bowl filled with water can do... or try and find a fountain somewhere. You can use whatever medium, though some work better than others.
