Rod’s First RP. Woot.
THE BACKGROUND: So I was talking to Sparrow and Johnny a while back, and I credit them for inspiration to create this (potentially awesome) RP. Sparrow said that in traditional folklore or something, the devil is a fiddle player. If you could best the devil in a fiddle battle, he would be unable to take your soul. But if you lost the battle, you forfeited your soul to him.
But that was some time ago. Now, the Red Man can play all the instruments we care to name.
Johnny also pointed out that older literature tells us that people sold their souls to the Devil for all sorts of diabolical "favors."

THE RP: The world we live in now is almost completely ruled by music. Huzzah. Some people sold their souls to the Devil, Lucifer (known as Lou), to become better musicians, and other, holier-than-thou souls have been forcibly claimed by the Devil in order to further his own musical prowess. The Devil himself is rumored to be one of the universe’s greatest musicians, rivaled only by The Big Man Up There— Emmanuel (known as Em). Lou is the greatest threat, and Em is the greatest safety.
THE BASICS: You are with Em, or you are with Lou. You are not with both. You can be one, or the other, or undecided, but both you shall not be. The time will come that Em’s army shall have to face off with Lou’s army, and that will be a simple showdown of MAGICAL MUSIC-NESS. Also, at the beginning, you can choose to be an undecided civilian who is either tempted by Lou or saved by Em.
Note: You do not actually have to know how to play music in order to participate.

THE RULES: Obey the guild rules, be semi-literate at least as per guild law, don’t be cybering, try to avoid one-liners, keep it PG-13, no godmodding, if you break the rules I’ll kick you out, end of story. OKAY!
Lou and Em are fighting for dominance in the world. They are actively out searching for people to join their legions, and it is up to you to fight for your side. Fight hard!
BATTLE RULES: Now we hit the fun stuff, and consequently it requires a bit more attention. The center of the RP is battling other people with music. Get creative with it. However, since there MUST be a definitive winner, to decide the end of the battle both players are to use the “roll dice” post action thing, rolling one (1) one hundred (100)-sided die. Mods get to decide when the battles will be “diced,” and here is why:
The mod who decides that the dice will be rolled will post a random number, either out of their own head or with the post action, generating a random number from 1 to 100 BEFORE the dice are rolled. Once the dice have been cast, whoever is the CLOSEST to the mod’s number wins the battle. In the event of a tie, just reroll. You can’t tie forever.
MODS MAY NOT GENERATE A RANDOM NUMBER FOR THEIR OWN BATTLES.
CERTIFIED MODS: (aka the ONLY people who can OK a dicing)

BATTLE OUTCOMES
WINNING A BATTLE
If you are a part of Em’s Army: If you win a battle against Lou of one of his cronies, then you get to take their music. You will have silenced one more of the evil oppressors, and until one of his little buddies comes and manages to beat YOU, you get to keep it.
If you are a part of Lou’s Legion: If you win a battle against Em or one of his buddies, then you get to take their soul. They can still play their music, but it will be without the soulful undertone that makes it Em’s music. Until s/he or one of his bandmates manages to beat you and reclaim the soul, then you get to keep it. Don’t ask what you do with it, just keep it.
MAKE SURE YOU KEEP TRACK OF WHOSE SOULS/MUSIC YOU HAVE. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT. I don’t particularly care HOW you keep track, just keep track.
LOSING A BATTLE
If you are a part of Em’s Army: If you lose a battle to Lou or one of his cronies, you will (temporarily) lose your soul. You may not battle again until you OR one of your “bandmates” has gone and reclaimed your soul from the guy/girl that beat you. If it happens that you lost to someone in a reclamation battle, you give up the music.
If you are a part of Lou’s Legion: If you lose a battle to Em or one of his buddies, you will NOT lose your soul (because you already sold that off to Lou). HOWEVER, you will lose your music. Your instruments will become silent until one of your bandmates goes and reclaims your music. It MUST be a bandmate, because obviously you cannot play for it yourself. If it so happens that you lost to someone in a reclamation battle, then you give up the soul.
MISCELLANEOUS STUFF THAT DIDN'T REALLY FIT IN ANYWHERE ELSE
You can battle against members of your own team, but only for fun or practice, not actual rewards/punishments.
RPing during the battle is what makes this stuff fun. Remember, your greatest defense and deadliest weapon is your music.
Challenging someone is easy. Just ask. How nicely you ask is up to you.
You ARE allowed to turn down challenges. But if you turn down EVERY challenge, then we have no RP.
