Personally, I can never really decide, but it's probably something from the tartanasiaextreme catalogue, as those are the films I watch electively (as opposed to friends buying films and me watching them). 'Battle Royale' is a great film, obviously, but I'm a big fan of Fruit-chan's 'Dumplings', Takashi's 'Audition' and Park Chan-Wook's 'Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance'. Out of those, I've watched 'Sympathy...' the most, but I really enjoyed the other two. 'Dumplings' is probably the most surreal of the lot, and I certainly enjoyed the characters a lot more because of the comical sections in it. However, the others don't lose any points for being completely serious (well, 'Sympathy...' has some degree of black humour running through it, but it's pitch black, and none too relieving).

I've never seen Trainspotting. I intend to read the book first, however. Sin City just wasn't my kind of film though. I'm not a fan of American comics, so I wasn't turned onto it. Especially with the addition of Jessica Alba, yuck.

I don't think you see the places inside me that I find you
I'm not big on Jessica Alba either. I don't get why some people think she's pretty.
I unfortunately don't watch too many movies. However, Pulp Fiction, Minority Report, and The Prestige probably fall under my favorite categories.
And I don't know how we separate the lies from the truth

I thought Minority Report sucked, but then I watched it about 20 more times because of my girlfriend, and I'll admit, I was being too picky over it. It's actually a pretty amazing film.

That's because Philip K. d**k's writings translate pretty well into movies, from what I've seen. On that note, I love Blade Runner, the Indiana Jones movies (not no. 2), the original Star Wars trilogy, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, The Incredibles, and probably some others that have slipped my mind.

Anyone seen 'Irreversible'?
It is an awesome film. Awesome.
""Awe" –noun 1. an overwhelming feeling of reverence, admiration, fear, etc., produced by that which is grand, sublime, extremely powerful, or the like: in awe of God; in awe of great political figures."
It smashed, raped and drugged my faith in humanity, utterly so, such that I felt a shame to be of this species, then in the last ten minutes turned it all upside down and gave me not so much a human admiration for humanity but an almost divine one, tied to a sense of the universal and eternal.
For a strong humanist, that was pretty powerful.

For a strong humanist, that was pretty powerful. I've never seen it, but I just looked it up on wikipedia and the concept sounds pretty interesting. I might look into seeing it when I get money. A French film which was rather challenging to say the least was 'Baise-moi' (Americans might know it as 'Rape Me' or '******** me'). It took some thought to understand what was artistic about that film. I wouldn't classify it anywhere near my top films, as it feels too low budget and is just awful from a cinematographic point of view (it's like Dogme 95, but worse), but I'd suggest seeing it, just so you can confront when you think art stops and exploitation begins.

The Fifth Element. Not the greatest movie of all time just awesomely fun to watch.
Donnie Darkoand The Princess Bride would probably round off my three favourite films.
Must give honourable mentions to pretty much all Phillip K. d**k movies, I have thouroughly enjoyed most if not all of them.

I also love Princess Bride (Who doesn't) I love Equilibrium and I usually say it's my favorite movie, but I can never decide. I watch Final Fantasy Advent Children, but I think it's more because it brings back memories from the first time I saw it, still it's up there. I recently got Moon Child and watched it. Even though it's sad and the video quality isn't the best I still loved it and it made me cry crying
