Story Many time in this world, we lose something that is dear to us. Whether it be an important item, a family airloom, or even a life of a loved one. What ever it may be, it always means the world to that person. Sometimes people will do crazy thing to get back what was lost. They say there is someone, or something, out there. It has the power to return what was lost. Animate or inanimate. No one truly knows if it exist or not. They say it will only contact you by a mysteriously worded letter. All it ever says is, "I have what you want, seek me out, for I have retrieved it for you." The letter soon dissapears. Now, think. What has been lost? What's most important? What are you willing to do for it? Where are you willing to go? Decide quickly. Time is not on your side. There are forces out there wanting to preserve the lost and keep them that way. They will do whatever it takes to stop you.

Ren sat there confused. "Retrieved it for me?" He wondered what is was. "What I lost, something I want....." Ren wasn't sure what to think. He thought and thought and thought and thought, but still nothing. He tossed the letter on his bed and went to a dresser, where a picture of a girl sat. "Orchid.....what does this mean? A letter out of nowhere, then that weird message." Suddenly he had it. "Orchid....." He said quietly. Ren was almost brought to tears. He had heard tales of things like this. A mysterious letter, a retriever, and what was lost being returned. A determined look came across Rens face. "For you Orchid, I'll go to the ends of the Earth."

Adalia read the letter again quickly before setting it down on the cafe's rickety table. 'Does this mean that I'm able to get him back?' she thought, closing her eyes as memories of him clouded her brain.
"okay." she said, putting the envelope in her jacket pocket and standing up. Next she withdrew a few crumpled dollars and tossed them on the table, before turning around and retreating out the door, the bell jingling as she left.
She could remember as if it were yesterday, her parents and her arguing over her fobidding romance with a human. Adalia pleaded with them to let her stay with him, but to no avail.
"Please Father....he has no idea about me...our family. I hide my secret well, I promise you." she begged.
"I don't want to hear it!" Adalia's Father yelled, " A filthy human contaminating my daughter...I simply will not have it!"
"But...I love him!" she blurted out, eyes shining with tears.
"Enough...I hearby banish and disown you! Never return to us, is that clear?" he said, outraged.
"Father, I..."
"You are not my daughter anymore...leave here at once!" he demanded, nodding to the guard to escort Adalia out of the large throne room.
Adalia tried to stuggle against them, but it was no use and she was left alone, the slamming door echoing around her.

Ren knew what he had to do. He packed his stuff. Some food, a canteen, and Orchid's picture. He didn't know where to go, but he knew he had to. Ren didn't need to tell anyone that he was going or where. He was an orphan living on his own.
He wondered if anyone would miss him. Orchid had been the only one to ever love him, and now she was gone. Ren had nothing else to stay for; that was his final decision. It seemed rash to him at first, but soon disregarded that thought. All he cared about now, was taking care of Orchid.

Arlette heard the music from her alarm clock. 6 AM, time to wake up and start the day.
"Bon matin, ma cherie," she said to her little puppy, Tamlin, as she got ready to open her bakery downstairs. "Je t'aime." ((Good morning, my dear. I love you.))
Tying her apron around her waist as she descended the stairs from her loft to the bakery, she heated up the ovens and was about to begin making cake batter when she noticed that the little silver flag on her mailbox was up. A letter? From who?
Leaving her baking unattended, she left the house and opened the mailbox. Just as soon as she read the letter, it was gone from her hands. Found... what? May? she thought, her mind slipping in and out of French. Je'n sais pas... but if I don't... je ne peut pas... Tamlin, and the bakery... ((I don't know... I can't...))

Ren left his little one room appartment that he had in the city. It wasn't much and leaving it behind was worth it. He set out to the outskirts of the city. He brought along his main weapon, a chain. He knew that the world of Dyon was inhabited by hostile creatures, so he had to protect himself somehow. Ren wondered where his adventure would lead him. But where ever it was to, he hopped it would all lead to Orchid.
(( I don't think the french will be a problem. Just a little extra reading, and that never hurt anyone.
I think the most annoying thing is Ren's obsession over Orchid. He's like a love sick little puppy! XP))

((*gasp* @_o OH FUZZY SOCKS! I forgot we're not on Earth! And I put myself in France! I'm sorry! crying I will fix it somehow!))
Woof! woof! woof! Tamlin hopped down the stairs, nose in the air. He sniffed, following his nose towards the cake batter on the counter. Being an exceptionally small puppy, he had no hopes of reaching it.
"Oh, Tamlin. Stop fretting, I'll feed you..." Arlette poured out a small measure of puppy food, setting it on the ground for Tamlin to eat. What am I to do? Where is this Dyon? Is that where I am to find this stranger with May?
"Bon matin, Arlette!" the neighbors called. "C'est l'anniversaire de petit Julien aujourd'hui!" ((Good morning, Arlette! It's little Julien's birthday today!))
"Je sais," Arlette replied. "Je fait son gâteau maintenant..." ((I know. I'm making his cake now.))
Arlette went back inside to finish making Julien's cake, pondering to herself.

When he arrived at the outskirts, he wondered where he was supposed to go next. Ren had no idea what lie beyond the outskirt. Orchid and him had always stayed close but far enough to be alone. He walked along and was attacked by these small rabbit like creatures. Ren waved his hand by them and they were frozen solid. He quickly kicked them and they shattered. "Scum." He muttered as he continued to walk.

((Okay, I'm getting confused. I'm starting to get the feeling already that this RP is a tad futile since we don't have someone acting as the Retriever or the evil force, whatever that may be.
It just feels too easy, since we have to create the problems ourselves. There's no one to direct us to wherever we're going, and no one to create any specific obstacles for each of us to individually overcome. Does that make sense? There's no one to stop us from automatic success, no one to fight against. There are monsters, sure, but monsters are obviously not the problem, as you've demonstrated.
Also: Will there be a point in time when all our characters meet up? Will we be able to interact with each other, or are we all on our own?
Sorry, that was kinda rant-y...))
