I think 8 Mile is a really cool movie, so that's one of my favs.
Save the Last Dance is awesome. One of the best.

who da man, with doctor dre (not Dr. Dre.. "doctor") has cameo's from run DMC and a bunch of other big hip hop acts at the time (late 80's to early 90's i believe)

For someone that just said f*ck mainstream, and your favorite movie is Belly, I think you might want to re-think that statement. Last time I checked, Nas, DMX, and Methodman were all signed, making money, and are played on the radio. Hmm...Tupac? Deathrow? When was that underground or indie?
