So I'm just curious.

If your characters had to bust out a dance, what kind of music would they choose? And how would their dancing be -- in regards to style and talent? XD For solo (think Napoleon Dynamite, here XD) AND for group.

Try and ignore timeline here -- just because you've got a medieval-fantasy character, doesn't mean they can't do techno! And the other way around as well. I doubt that would be a problem with any of you, since you've all got crazy imaginations anyway. xd Just clarifying in advance~

***

Yukio -- is properly educated in the ways of ballroom dance through his timeline, but if he had free choice, he'd probably be grinding to...ugh, I don't know what. Probably emo or industrial. xd As far as solo dancing goes...NO WAY. He'd be too awkward. :'D He'll only ever solo-dance for his wife, and that's really more of a bizarre inside joke for them -- Yukio's mating dance. rofl

Zarr -- is terribly expected, he'd probably go absolutely wild moshing his silly little heart out to some Flogging Molly. Solo, it's anybody's guess between Gunther and miscellaneous Asian dance/pop -- this song is currently favored. Yeah yeah, Zarr's secret dream is to be a pop idol. rofl Proceed to throw rocks.

Obsi -- standard house and techno dancing (and DEFINITELY some trance <3). He'd probably love the rave scene, even though his wife would beat the living hell out of him if he ever got anywhere near any 'E'. lol So he'd just drink it up and totally let loose. Oh, and if it's able to be humped, it will be humped. Solo-wise, he's like his brother -- no-way-in-hell. xd

WARNING: Contains Youtube links, because I have a tendancy to chose little-known music.

Ainu: He boogies down! blaugh Just because he's a three-foot blue alien, doesn't mean he can't groove. Dear little Ainu does the sprinkler, the rock lobster, the shimmy, the moonwalk; just about all named dance moves. As demonstrated in Red Dog's opening sequence... Gah, he's a darling. He'd choose something like "UFO" by Sneaky Sound System.

Jeno O'Varr: also does this, but more to a solo beat (his song is "Hyperactive" by Thomas Dolby - and his dancing is like Justin Timberlake on steriods. He'd definately choose "Hyperactive", or failing that, "Lovestoned"by JT or "Grace Kelly" by MIKA. Interestingly, when he was asked to sing a song, the closest music he got to was the "Galaxy Song" by Monty Python. As an adris, he WOULD sing (they court each other by singing and dancing. I love alien races...).

Shigure: This fox can tango. ^.^ He does so in his flashback story, "She, Who Broke My Heart". If he chose a song to dance to, it would be "Into The Night", that Santana feat. someone song, "Corazon Espinado" (Santana), "Maria Maria" (Santana again)... or "This Is How A Heart Breaks" (Rob Thomas).

Ike: We know Ike dances. You saw that Sim photo. His favorite song is "Dare" (Gorillaz) and he knows all the moves, plus a few of his own. If he gets drunk, he's likely to start making up very promiscuous moves on the spot, something that his boyfriend has never lived down... He likes techno a lot, but would definately swing in a Gorillaz direction. If Foxglove is ever made into a TV series or movie or something, I am going to fight so hard to get his battle with Shin set to "Rock The House" and his fight with Shigure to "Left Hand (Suzuki Method)".

Howl 266: A hardly-worth-mentioning character from Red Dog, Howl is notable for, in this case, his likeliness to choose something early from Eminem, like "The Real Slim Shady" or "Without Me". He'd rap to it, and he'd do demonstrative actions. Given those songs... that's not too nice.

Shin: His definition is going into barely rythmic spasms until someone ties him down. Don't let him dance. He'll choose something by MIKA, or, failing that, Spice Girls.

Onering and Baku waltz. It's cute.

Oh, and Fubuki? He can't dance for nuts. He can twirl a partner and swing her around, but he can't really dance, just move vaguely rythmically. Chances are, if he does 'dance', he'll just be showing off.

Amy: She's the sort who busts out with her headphones on to Franz Ferdinand and Muse when she's locked up all alone in her room. I did not draw this from personal experience. At all. No partner or public dancing for her, she's not comfortable with shaking her anorexic tush.

Dejen/Dave (I mean, they are the same damn person only one's immortal and the other is a wangsty teen): West coast swing. To jazz and old R&B. Solo and partner.

Haedin: Obviously the tango. To tango music. And Grae can be thrown in here, too, as that's the only way you'd get her to dance. Haedin can't do solo dance, either. Unless he's romancing a blow-up doll/tree/pole.

Tzakaran: Lindy/east coast swing to the doors "Love Her Madly" (which he can also sing quite nicely) or the Cherry Poppin' Daddies. Any sort of old 40's-ish dancing in general. We can just ignore that I dropped Doors in there, 'kay?

Porter: Hip hop/pole dancing. To hip hop music. Mostly on the more female artist side. Odd girl out, I know.

I know very little about dance, and it shows:

Vitae: He waltzes, obviously to waltz music. He can probably do other sorts of ballroom dance, but I've only ever seen him waltz. To solo dance, he would first have to be very drunk, and then he'd probably start spaz-flailing to Josh Groban's "Canto Alla Vita." Only he'd dance to the less classical-sounding CD version. What, it has a rhythm, doesn't it?

Nathan: Solo, he'd belly-dance to "The Storm" by Blackmore's Night. Why? It has to do with an old writing prompt thread in the WF. >>; In a group setting, he'd probably bust out some crazy disco moves. It's also pointed out in the story that he cannot, under any circumstances, waltz.

Jericho: Would break out the breakdancing moves, but I don't have any idea what music he'd do this to. I guess this goes for group- and solo-dancing. xd

Sabine: Alone and in private would do twirly pseudo-ballet stuff to "An Paistin Fionn," which is in Gaelic and has no youtube videos. xp I don't know what she'd do in public, but it would look something like this.

Erin: She would dance like the spaztic idiot she is to hyperbouncynonsense music like Caramelldansen. She would dance the same regardless of whether she was with a group or by herself.

The Destroyer: It would dance to COOL EDITION from The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi. Bit of a bilingual bonus there. Not sure how it would dance, but it would.

I haven't really thought about the others.

*too lazy for links*

Randy: Give him a beat and the boy will bounce. He has no shame. stare

Mynt: Swing, baby! He'll dance alone or with whoever. He doesn't really care as long as he has a pretty *ahem* person in a red dress to pick up and twirl, he's good. Swing and Justin Timberlake. Go figure, but he loves SexyBack and Lovestoned and most of the other songs on the FutureSex/LoveSounds album.

Chark: Techno trance dance house electronica. Yes. He was born and raised on sparks and silicon so he's got to like those synth beats. That and Gogol Bordello. Especially "Zina Marina." Do not ask.

Dyv: Will kick it to the Pixies if he thinks no one is watching. Especially "Debaser", "Wave of Mutilation" and "There Goes My Gun."

I'll let them speak for me ^^

Caleb: *looks up at Mynt* WELL THEN. I like slow, smooth dancing, ON MY OWN. Hips slowly moving, yeah. Teasing everyone. Techno. <3

Rakiel: I stand there as the beat plays, he grinds. I don't move. That's...me.

Zane: If it is slow, if it is techno, if it's ANYTHING...I'll dance...and, like, yeah. I find a dance for it too.

Yeah, so... I know she doesn't have a name yet, but Suzie Q. Main Character from The Sum of All Desires... Euro techno, mostly Dragostea Din Tei, aka the Numa Numa song. Observe. 'Cause she's too cool for random flailing, although no doubt her technique becomes more spaz-tastic and jumping around when she's in a crowd.

Kita would tango, to more traditional, Spanish guitar-type music for preference, and be very showy about it, (solo/duo) while in-universe, she can do any number of social dances, although she refrains from those including too much bouncing. (see the recent remake of Pride and Prejudice- I actually think corsets would be more comfortable than a normal bra in this case)

Elia... well, you know how kids dance in Sims 2, all spastic jumping? Yeah. And she'd do it to anything.

I'm going to try this one...

Raulin is very aggressive with regards to women. He does a lot of grinding to rap, hip hop, and some rock/metal. He doesn't do techno, country, or jazz, though he has been known to whip out a rather sex-charged version of the tango on random occasions (see: Michael Buble, "Sway"). He will never let you see him waltz--EVER--but he can do it. I suppose it goes without saying that he will not dance at all if not with a smoking hot brunette in his arms (usually average to buxom, with loose curls in her no-longer-than-shoulder-length hair and lipstick a little more red than it has to be), and will not dance in groups larger than two.

Felix, even though he and Raulin are the same person, is much more gentle with the ladies. He's not a big fan of rap, hip hop, metal, techno, or country, but he really loves the soft stuff--jazz, soft rock, latin music, adult contemporary, etc. etc. After you get him warmed up on a waltz, he'll show off some jazz moves. If you don't laugh too hard, he'll take you up on that tango you've been dying for, and if he really likes you, he'll forgo his usual overly gentle attitude and rough you up a little. He's very smooth, but some of Raulin's promiscuity came through, so don't be too surprised if he gets a little heated and sexual every once in a while (if he REALLY likes you). ...oh, yeah: he doesn't do solo dancing, but he'll readily join a group if he's comfortable with the song.

There's a female character, too, but I'm really not sure of her name at this point. Anyway, she is a HUGE fan of tango, salsa, various jazz styles--pretty much any type of energetic dance. She's okay with waltz, but it isn't her favorite. As for music taste, she's closer to Felix than Raulin, though I've caught her a couple times with metal, rap, and hip hop. She doesn't really enjoy grinding, but she does like to make them look when she's dancing alone. Her dance style changes with her mood--if she feels like she has something to prove or is concentrating on something else, she dances super light and graceful. When she's engaged in the dance (or the dancer) she dances into the floor more and is a lot more deliberate. (expressive? I'm not sure what word I'm looking for...) She doesn't try to get closer than a polite distance at first, but if she's really into the guy (*coughfelixcough*) and he moves in, she wastes no time doing the same. She is always game for group dancing.

...So there you have it!

Okay, I guess it works better if I throw in some of my other characters.

Dax isn't much of a dancer, be it solo, be it group. He only dances (random memetic Internet dances, like the Caramelldansen) if he drinks too much.

Discord (woot, a bishie villain!), on other hand, can dance almost everything (from waltz to Brazilian funk) without being drunk. (Don't even ask what happens if he drinks too much.) He doesn't like solo dancing, although he's pretty good at random dances, and prefers pair dances with more physical contact.

Maharin is pretty good at ballroom dancing. He would like techno, rave, and would try his best not to look awkward while trying to to the Macarena.

Tharigan (beast-like elf) doesn't like to dance, but, if you give him enough drinks and meat, you might see him dancing to anything. Really.

Kyrion (the masked craftsman) dances only if holding a pair of daggers (no wonder why his face is full of scars, haha), but can waltz with anyone if given a good reason to do it.

I noticed now, many characters of mine dislike dancing...

Oh man, I love questions like these. As of yet, I'm still very new to this guild and I haven't introduced my characters... so you won't have much background to go on, but I hope you're entertained anyway.

Ashely, who is my main darling to hurt lately, is pure punk... and a boy. I think it expresses just how intent I was on torturing him when I named him Ashley. And yeah, its actually a guy's name-- Don't believe me? Watch Evil Dead. Anyway, he's a mosher, not a metal mosher, but a punk mosher. This consists mostly of either jumping around or simply rocketing into each other in a circle, but rarely punching (unless somebody starts a fight), and always helping each other up when somebody gets knocked down. Its about having fun, not being abjectly violent, and nobody gets crushed. When he's drunk, however, he's not opposed to hopping into ska circles.

Charlie, another of my sweet baby boys, will dance to just about anything-- He just hasn't in a while because I murdered everybody he ever loved and made him totally crazy before selling him into slavery. But lately he's getting better at pole dancing. He's such a tease.

Henri's character was set back kind of in the early 90s, when Post Punk was in, and emo was still a sub-culture of weird kids with thick black glasses and short, awkward hair. He's a substance abuser, so most of the dancing he does is in dim, smoky rooms to slow, heavy music with pretty girls in torn lace and fake pearls. There's a lot of touching and forgetting where you are, but mostly not caring either way, as long as the music doesn't stop and you don't run out of liquor.
