This thread will feature links to both the official battle system site and related/useful FAQs and guides.

If your like some of us then you have been waiting on battle systems for a while now. The idea of battles, wars and killing things, well just seems interesting and fun. Well then if your like myself your also looking for information, and as much of it as you can find with out spending days on end researching. Well I will be adding some basic information and a few quick links here in hopes of helping you on your way. This post may be edited as new links and info are found.

Battle systems Information and links:

Some Basic Battle system information...

1) When battle systems is first launched it will be against gaia monsters only. There is some anticipation that at some point we will be able to battle against other players, but that isn't for some time yet.

2) You earn "abilities" through rings, you will be able to hold a maximum of 8 rings and you can enhance the ability of these rings.

3) You'll be able to click to move, click to select a monster and click a ring icon to attack monsters.

4) You'll be able use hotkeys to toggle between targets, 1-8 keys to use your corresponding rings. Hit SPACEBAR to select yourself (for quick heals during combat) and more.

5) The battle system will be across the World Map, except in those areas where the map is already designated to something else.

6) Towns runs on GST, and currently runs on a 12-hour clock cycle, Gaia may accelerate this a bit so that day/night cycles rotate more often. Battle would then use that same day/night cycle with in the game, allowing for quest that would require a player to operate in either day or night to be easier to accomplish.

7) Still no ETA as to when it will be launched, other then "some time THIS year", and rumored to be sometime before Halloween 08. wink

8 There will be around 40 rings at launch date. You will be given a few pick from when you first start the game but the amount will be from a very limited choice group. The rest you will need to get from the game.

Some Information of interest, and some things Qixter has answered. For those that don't know Quiter is one of the developers for the mMO.

The "mother duck" functionality would be a "/follow" command and it's not guaranteed to be in for launch...but we'd like it to be. We'll see.

Stats will be shown, but only in a general fashion. "Moderate" damage instead of, for example, 123 points of damage, will be how a ring's damage capacity will be described. It shows you relative worth compared to the other attack categories of other rings

Ask: Fuji...you have 100 rage points, so by coincidence, points and percentages are exactly the same thing.

Imagine the Rage Bar being cut into three parts. For this example, let's say you accumulate enough Rage to fill the entire meter. If you just click the fire button, you don't burn any Rage and you fire your ability at Rage Rank 1. If you hold down the mouse button until the rage meter powers past the first bar division and then release the button, you will use the amount of Rage below that mark...and nothing else (the remainder is left in your Rage bar). The effect then fires at Rage Rank 2. This is true for Rage Ranks 3 & 4 also...you just need to hold down the fire button longer until the power meter passes one of those Rage Bar divisions.

Will there be anything that causes Total Charge to drop?

No.

Like let's say you sell a ring and buy a new one then go out to collect orbs to power it up. Now as people do this repeatedly they could advance their Total Charge amounts substantially. However they won't be say all that more powerful because they are switching up and rebuilding their playing style. And over time you could have numbers that resemble DBZ power levels.

Yes. That's correct. But think of "Total Charge" as a "veteran indicator". If you have a high Total Charge, then you have played the game. A lot. You probably are familiar with the rings you wield, you probably know how to group well with others, and in general, others can rely on the fact that you know what you're doing. If someone has a low "Total Charge", but has high-powered rings....well...that's like a big sign that says "Watch me carefully." Maybe that person knows how to use their rings...and maybe they don't.

We also have mechanisms in the game (Looking for Groups search feature) that allow you to see the actual rings and CLs of those rings when you are searching for group members. You can also see those players' Total Charge at the same time (during the same search), so you can make judgements on who you wish to invite to your group very easily.

Qixter wrote:

"loot" refers to *both* the monster drops (the stuff you loot from a monster after defeating it) and the items that you can make out of those monster drops (by using recipes) that can be worn as clothing or used as housing items. Make sense?

--------------------------
Qixter :

Loot comes to you automatically. Let's say you're alone. When you kill a monster, you might have a 3% chance of getting an Uncommon loot drop.

Now let's say you're in a group of six people. You still have that same 3% chance. In other words, getting into a group poses NO drawbacks to gaining loot...but it's easier to work through monsters and you still get the loot you desired. Individual chances for loot are determined separately for each individual in your group and then the loot is automatically awarded into your inventory without having to pick it up. What you do with that loot thereafter is up to you.
