The thoughts that I find calming also subsequently strike me as disturbing. For one, visualizing excessive harm coming to those that I abhor. I also enjoy seeing scenes of extreme violence played to classical musc. Also, the best sleep I ever had was when I dreamed I could have sworn the word was "dreamt", but my spellchecker says no. of the apocalypse; rivers of lava, pillars of fire... And all the while I was just sitting on the porch, talking with a friend.
Is there something wrong with me?
Edit: Have I had a thread like this before? Once I posted, I realized I might have... But I dunno. If I did, I don't remember how it went. :/

Probably not. I regularly have dreams where I murder someone, or cannibalize someone.

Cannibalism.. Never had that...
But I will say you have traits of a sadists, we all do. Even me and my bf do, which is bad at times. He enjoys inflicting pain at times. It's an excitement to him, but he'd never in real life do anything to really hurt me, only highly ticking me till it hurts, or wresting cause some pain...
Now I'm ranting, but I will agree any death to classical music is just so much more... Poetic.
((I to get the stupid thing about dreamt... It sounds better so I use it instead. Wait, now it's not doing it... 0_o))

Quote: I also enjoy seeing scenes of extreme violence played to classical musc. Am I the only one that pictured Willem Dafoe in Boondock Saints when I read this? I've got to quit referring to that movie. sweatdrop Quote: But I will say you have traits of a sadists, we all do. I'm inclined to disagree on that one. I haven't found any traits of a sadist in me...yet. I'd really like to find them, though, because they'd help create at least some sense of balance. My confession? I definitely have a masochistic streak. I don't dream of hurting people often, and when I do I'm completely traumatized. But I dream of being killed. A lot. To the point where I've gotten so used to it, its consistency provides some sort of comfort. Kind of twisted, actually. "I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad, the dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had..."

I thought masochism was infliction of pain onto ones self and sadism was inflict pain on others, that were the term S&M comes form. :/
And Every human will have evil thoughts of hurting others, reason why we find people getting hurt funny, Ex. Skateboarders crashing, people falling/slipping.
We all have the idea of hurting others for enjoyment, hunting, thoughts. All of that stuff. It was all species have.
I LOVE MAD WORLD! ;_; Both versions are good. The Gary Jules one is more soothing.

Quote: And Every human will have evil thoughts of hurting others, reason why we find people getting hurt funny, Ex. Skateboarders crashing, people falling/slipping. Yeah, that's true. I usually panic when that happens to someone, rush to help them, and once I know they're okay, then I laugh. That tends to cheer most people up, actually, it seems...take it lighter, laugh it off. But when I think of actually hurting other people, it makes my stomach churn. And yes, Mad World is AWESOME. I'm not too fond of the original, actually. xD I prefer the Gary Jules one.

I wouldn't say that dreaming about or visualizing violence means that something's wrong with you. In dreams, things like killing, dying, and destruction are usually metaphors. As for things that you visualize willingly, there may simply be some frustrating or outraging elements in your life that you feel need to be "purged." When a person can't/won't act on those feelings due to social or moral constraints, other methods of catharsis (such as visualization) may crop up. That's my pseudo-psychological analysis, anyway. ^_^
