This was a long time ago, at least a few months, that I was tired and needed to relax, so I sat in my room to meditate. I do this every so often, though it's hard to do when my brother is home, he's always playing his guitar and it's noisy. This time though, when I let my mind sort of go wild, I visualized an interesting story, and it was very clear too. (So that I could concentrate better, I put on Enya's "A Day Without Rain." I think it was pretty loud, but not too loud.)

Anyway, the meditation. Instead of dully explaining it all, I'm just gonna write it sort of like a story. There wasn't a ton of talking in my meditation, so if there's a lot of dialogue in the story, then it's just to fill in the blanks. Oh, and sorry about the length of the story, but the meditation was very detailed.

Note: The person called Du is supposed to be me, even though I look different and stuff. I edited the meditation a little to fit, so this story isn't exact, but for the most part it is. Oh, and the name "Itafe" is Egyptian for father. The lion was not called Itafe in the meditation, I just decided to name him that. I'll just call him Papa or Lion in the story though. (You'll figure out what I'm talking about when you read the story.) - Ames

~The Story~

When the girl awoke, she realized that she was lying on a wood-frame bed with a simple white mattress and pillow on it. She looked around, recognizing the comforting image of her own home; a dark, hollow tree house carved from the inside of the tree, several feel off the ground. There was a mirror on the far wall, by the end of the bed frame. The girl got up and looked in the mirror.

The girl was only 13 or 14. Her skin was light, and she had yellow-blonde wavy hair that went down to her neck, and bright green eyes. She was wearing a light tan mini-dress that had no sleeves and only one shoulder strap. She eyed herself for a few minutes, when someone called her.

"Du!"
The girl turned her head to the doorway in surprise. There was another girl, around 4 years younger than her. This girl's hair and eyes were both dark brown, though her hair went only over her small ears, no longer than that. Her skin was more of an olive color, but her dress was the same style. The older girl knew her at once: this was her friend, Kazyma. She smiled in welcome.

"Du, Papa is waiting for us, we must go!" Kazyma said urgently. Du nodded, and they walked out of the small home.

The forest they were living in was beautiful. Most every plant was bright green, and there were no signs of dead plants or trees. All of the trees were very tall, and had thick trunks. In between many of the trees, there were ropey green vines. Du looked down. They were way too far off the ground to jump, and there was no ladder. They would have to take the vines, as usual.
Kazyma shouted and laughed as she swung, having a lot of fun, while Du paid more attention to not hitting anything. After swinging for a little bit, they swung down and landed on the ground, walking along a moist dirt path.

"So...what does Papa want?" Du asked. Kazyma rolled her eyes. "He wants to talk to you about finding your spirit animal, of course! I already know mine, it's a boar!"
Before Du's eyes, Kazyma transformed. Despite her age and size, her spirit animal was very large, and taller than twice Du's height. Her hair was the same color though. "Race you there!" she said enthusiastically, and she stomped away down the path. Du smiled, and walked off through the trees,

Du came across a group of elk, munching on grass. One of them had especially dark eyes, and a vine tied around it's neck and a tree. Du walked over to it, petted it, and released it from the tree. "Are you ready to go? We have to hurry." The elk nodded, and allowed Du to get on its back. And then they were off, prancing past the trees, heading for the brighter side of the forest, where the trees soon spread out and were gone altogether.

They had entered a wide round meadow now, that was in the middle of the forest. And there was Papa, the great lion that was comfortably lying in the lush grass, Kazyma by him, human form now, along with a doe and her two children. He smiled up as Du arrived with Elk, his eyes warm and loving.

Du stopped Elk, and got off him, running to the lion to give him a wide hug. "Papa!" Du clung to him, and could feel his soft warm fur tickling her cheeks. "You wanted to see me?"
"Yes," the lion replied. His voice was low and very strong, but not threatening in any way. "But first, I must wait for Owl and Raven to arrive."
Not long after this was said, Owl and Raven were seen flying over the forest, dark figures against the high sun. They flew down to Lion. "Do you have any news to share?" Lion asked, but they both shook their heads no. Lion turned back to Du. "We will continue your lesson then. Have you had any strange dreams lately?"
"No," Du said. "My sleep has been dreamless and quick lately."
"I see. Well, I will help you then. You will rest now, and when you wake, You will tell me the images you have received."

Du nodded in understanding. Very gently, Lion put his paw to her forehead. She felt herself get drowsy, and she fell to the grass into very deep sleep.
In Du's dream, There was mostly just pitch darkness. For a long time, nothing happened. Then, from somewhere above, a small white feather slowly fell, gliding like a fallen leaf from a tree. It hit the bottom of the darkness and caused a ripple, as if it had hit water. This was the end of the dream.

Even though the dream was surprisingly short, When Du had awoken, she knew that a lot of time had passed. No one else was in the meadow now, except Lion, who was curled up beside her. It was his turn to sleep now. Du knew that she was supposed to tell him about the dream, but she didn't want to disturb him, so she walked back into the forest. She was really hungry, so she figured she'd go back to her home and get her bow and arrows, so she could hunt.

For a while, Du went searching, when she came upon a small rabbit, nibbling on something. She steadied her bow, aiming carefully, and was just about to release it when Lion's paw knocked her bow away, sending the arrow just a few inches away from the rabbit. It hopped away, unharmed.

Du turned to the Lion. "Why did you do that!? I almost had him!"

Lion shook his head. "You should not eat your brother, rabbit. I will show you something better." Lion led Du to a garden of carrots, which she picked and ate with everyone else, thankful and happy.

Sometime later, Du had a vision. It was of what appeared to be a horse's face, half hidden in the same darkness that was behind the falling white feather.

The next day, while Du was playing with Kazyma in the meadow, Raven and Owl arrived with a message that people were invading and harming the forest. Du and the rest hurried along the trail that led to the smoke. They encountered men in red armor who had bows and fire-arrows. There was also a young boy in a tunic, who seemed to be the leader of the men. With no explanation, the men began to shoot their arrows wildly, and a battle ensued. Du got her bow ready as well, ready to fight on the back of Lion, who was roaring with a frightening righteous fury, slashing his claws and biting his teeth at his foes.

Somewhere in between the commotion, the Doe with two fawns stood, protecting them. One of the men's arrows was aimed. Du tried to stop it, but it was too late; the arrow pierced the Doe's chest, and killed her on the spot. Du told the children to hide, and the battle continued.
After a while of fighting, the men retreated. Many of them were dead, but among the few known animals, only the Doe had perished.

Du and her friends all climbed to the highest cliff to watch the men leave in their ship, to go across the sea. She spotted the young boy in the tunic, who waved and smiled apologetically to her. Even as she looked down at the crying fawns, for some strange reason, Du could not be angry at the man. She returned a smile to him, secretly wishing to see him again someday.

For a while, everyone was happy in the forest. Then one day when they were staring at the clouds, they decided that it was time to explore the rest of the world. Yes, the forest was very wonderful, but what else was around? What if there was something else magnificent?

So, Du, Kazyma, Lion, and the fawns went on a short journey across the ocean, while everyone else stayed. Lion and the fawns rode a small whale, while Du and Kazyma rode 2 dolphins. They were on the water for at least a day or two, fishing for food and enjoying the sunshine above. While they were journeying, Owl came with a message for Du from the boy, which made her smile to herself , though it is not clear what it said.

After a long while, they spotted something in the distance.

It was nothing they had every seen or heard of before. A fortress-like industrial place that had a bustling city behind a lookout cliff and railing. Below the cliff, there was a little beach. Kazyma and Du looked at Lion, unsure of what to do, but he continued forward.

They stopped at the beach. Lion instructed Du to stay, so she did. When she turned around, she was shocked to find that everyone else was leaving her. "Hey!" she cried, "What are you doing?!"
"I want you to stay here, Du," Lion said. He seemed very serious. "I will come back for you."
Du was crying now, frightened. "Please don't leave me here alone! Please!"
Lion gave Du a loving smile. "I will come back for you. I promise."
And they were gone.

Du looked at the cliff above her. Where else could she go? She had to be brave, she supposed. So she climbed up the hill by the cliff, away from the beach, into the grey foreign city.
It all happened very fast. Before she could even really see what she was walking into, two men that resembled officers grabbed her suddenly, something she definitely didn't expect. Du struggled to get away, but they held her tight, and there was nothing she could do to escape.

Somewhere in the city, they took her into a building basement. In the basement, there was a dimly lit dark room, with two prisonlike cells. Without a single word, the men chained Du to the wall. Before she could even take a breath, they began to beat and whip her, yelling things that she couldn't understand. Du screamed in protest as her limbs bruised and her body bled, her dress tore and fell. "Please stop! Please don't hurt me! I didn't do anything! I swear! Just stop!"

After a while, the men quit and went back upstairs, leaving Du alone and naked in the dark. She was struck dumb, shocked and in more pain that she had ever been in in her life. Tears fell down her face, and a great sense of hopelessness and weakness washed over her, so she couldn't move. Softly, she spoke to herself.
"...I don't understand it. I just got here, and I'm lost. Lion wanted me to stay...and for what? This? I am stuck. I need help. Spirit animal...are you there? Do you exist? Please hear me. I need help now."

At these words, something manifested next to Du. For a minute, she couldn't tell what it was, until she realized that it was decaying, it's face rotted away to reveal the empty eyesockets and mouth of the skull. It was a black dragon.
Now it was the dragon who begged. "I need help too." it said. "You can see that I am dying. But, I used to be something different, much prettier than this. I need you to find out what I used to be, and I can be restored. However, I do not know if I can help you leave this depressing place."

Du closed her eyes, thinking to herself. Her strange dream and vision, could those be clues, or no? Oh, Lion! Why did he want her here, and now? What was the purpose of this pain?

Unable to assist the dragon or herself at the moment, Du closed her eyes, and drifted off.

Well, that was the meditation. I wish it didn't leave me hanging like that, but it did, and I think about it a lot. I haven't had any others, but I'm kind of hoping I will soon, because I think it might've actually meant something. Anyway, I hope you found the story interesting. - Ames

That is neat.
Thanks for sharing. heart

Meditation stories are not something to take lightly. They represent our experiences and/or personal development. Unfortunately, I can't tell you much more as this is something you need to look at and work on in order for the story to finish. It might take a while though so be patient with it, and allow it to develop on its own.

If you are interested, I had a similar experience with my crystal story. Originally, when the story was given to me it only went as far as the crystal escaping the boys and the fish helping to assess the damage done. The rest came about 15 years later (when I was holding the story telling crystal again) and I was able to see the rose crystal get back home.

I like your story, it is simple, but has a nice lesson in it.
Hey, do you think that my Lion is my spirit guide animal? I know that while I was meditating, I really felt close to him, like he was almost real, and he showed a lot of love.

Most likely. But guides can sometimes take on whatever form necessary that you are comfortable with and best represents what they are trying to teach.

If you are into Animal Totems/Guides you should look up their meaning to better understand your meditation and what it is you need to learn so you can complete the story.

Animal Speak by Ted Andrews might be your best source, if you have access to it. It is really good with info about Totems, symbology and such. I like the book as it also offers info about it in nature and any myths, stereo types and such associated with the critters.

If not, there is the Animal Spirits web site, which is good except they don't have their animal enteries in an easy to find system. (alphabetical or by animal species). But once you find the animals the info is to the point.

Do you make anything of the dragon?

Dragons are obviously powerful messengers & guides/totems. But I know little else when it comes to their myths, their methods of instruction or their personalities. But I know they have a lot to teach to those willing to take up their challenges.

I wish I had a cool meditation story. Every time I try to meditate I fall asleep. I usually close my eyes and when I open them it is an hour or two later. Nothing ever happens.

Don't be so sure of that.
A lot can take place in our sleep. Sometimes our awareness is put on hold while our subconscious does the work it needs to do.

What matters is how you feel when you wake up.
