Today I read Luke chapter 8

For some reason the parable of the farmer was just not honestly sinking in until I read it again today;

Luke 8:4-15

Yeah. Although Jesus explains it to his disciples later, it's still got a lot in there that takes time to grasp. I mean, we can understand on the surface, but understanding implications etc takes more of a revelation or study, I think.

Yeah back then it was easy to understand about how plants grew because people worked more in the land than in offices or factories like today, but exactly how that related to Heaven could not be clear without Jesus explaining it to people. Thing is we have access to that explanation yet I was not honestly understanding it. For some reason I kept getting it mixed up. crying

Today I read Luke 10

I read The Message translation instead of the NIV like I usually do, but in any case the verses that stood out to me were 1-20 and particularly verse 3;

On your way! But be careful—this is hazardous work. You're like lambs in a wolf pack.

Before I read this I was thinking: "Oh dang, He's sending them out before him? Doesn't he know those people will eat them alive? Probably literally knowing how some folks can be and this verse was just basically like "duh!" Still even more so this chapter just goes to show "greater is He that is in me than He that is in the world."

Today I read Luke 11

Jesus said those people were hopeless. Indeed; how can you have God right in front of you yet not recognize Him and on top of it desire to kill Him?

Today I read Luke 12

Scriptures of note;verses 4-5 and 22-26

I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him.

Um, considering all the sick methods of torture some can come up with that's a hard thing to do but once you die from the painful trauma of it all then what can anyone do? Yes, we are eternal indeed even if it doesn't seem like it. Once we are free from this earth suit then what can anyone do to harm us then? I think it's only because of what we are and how we enter existence we can't see beyond this physical realm and most the time it seems to be all there is to existence but I also think we all get wake up calls from time to time, some more than others, so yes it would be wise indeed to take note that there are deeper pains than shredded emotions or physical tortures, that we all have something no one or no thing except God alone can touch. Can anyone describe the pain of one's soul being destroyed? I doubt it.

Then Jesus said to his disciples: "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?

More than anything this one really hits home for me. It's also amazing how God calls adding a hour to one's life a little thing. LOL man that just goes to show how much power He has. Fact is we have no clue how long our lives are- we don't know the day or minute when we are supposed to die all we can do is try to prevent it from happening sooner than we want. (feel like getting on a soap box about that but I'll save that speech for later ^_~). Yeah, we can't add to our lives worrying but we sure can take away from them!
