If you are the type to hide your stories until they are acceptable, and ready for peer editing, to what lengths will you go to hide your work?
If I am writing on paper, I write it in mirror-image. That way, if someone reads over my shoulder, I know they're there before, or by the time they figure out how to read it. On my computer, I lock it under passwords of 11-digit numbers. And if my mumsy is nosing around and trying to read the screen over my shoulder, I do one of two things: I change the font to Arabic, so all she sees are squiggly lines; or I pull up a rather sarcastic document that I will post later when I find it. It reads something like this:
"Do not read what is on this screen. I told you not to read what is on this screen. Please do not continue....(it goes on, but I can't remember what it says) .... (the end of the piece) Well, now that you have read what is on the screen, what do you think? Are you happy now? Do you feel enlightened? I'm glad. Damn, I love sarcasm. Have a nice day."
Anyway, when people ask me if they can read what I write, aside from a specific few, I tell them, "It's not that I'm shy about my work...I just don't think the world can handle it yet." >_<
Cheers. =^_^=

I'm willing to show my work to people, but I'm paranoid that people are gunna steal it (like someone tried to, but fate crashed his computer and lost everything he'd modified). So, if you want to read, you have to go to my site (see my profile or something like that since GIVING THE LINK COUNTS AS ADVERTISING! *curses in Japanese*), register, get your activation code and then log in. It's also a roleplay site. So, if you want to read my stuff, just ask.

I don't really care, depending on what part I'm writing. If I'm past chapter three, they can't see it, before then, good luck to them, because you won't see any of my storyline/plot and/or figure it out untill the very end of the book. That and half my characters don't come in until just after the third chapter.

xP I'm mostly the same, if its a mini project I'm working on, I'll show it... but if I'm writing the same I tend to hide it. On my computer, I type my stories using symbols found on word. It's a bunch of Triangles Circles and Squares, each shape is a different letter, and its not like Triangle is A, in fact Triangle is Q.
Then when I'm writing on the go with out my computer, I set up mirrors in front and on the sides of me so I can see when some one is sneaking up beside me, and I usually write on light paper with yellow pen so its hard to see, especially when I go back and edit it with bright red. -killer on the eyes-
When I print it out, I fold up the paper, and I punch holes in it, and fold it over locking it up in a way, that if they want to pull the paper off the lock they'll rip the paper into shreads, and if they can't get the lock of it stays forever shut. Then I put it in a zip binder that also locks, inside of a box that has a tumble lock, then that actually goes inside my underware drawr, underneath of the wood... like a seceret compartement. That's all in my room that's door has a lock and bolt, and I put a chair up against the door most times, and a bucket on the inside. ;D

I'm one of those who write late at night when everyone's asleep, but I'll very rarely show my stuff to my friends and never to my family. Unless it's an English assignment then I normally get help from my mother.... That and I am really shy about showing my work.

Wow, Cookie...just wow...Your drive to keep your work hidden astounds me. I thought I was paranoid, but I am so impressed by your hard work to keep out unwanted eyes. I am rather ashamed to admit that my Pet (boyfriend) has been slowly but surely coaxing me into letting him read bits and pieces of my life's work. I keep him on a tight leash, however, in that respect. I go over everything he wants to read very carefully, for at least two days, before sending it to him. Bwahahaha! He's addicted to my work! twisted

Honestly, I thought I was bad!! That's hilarious. I absolutely hate people reading my works too, so I usually just type it all in white so that whoever comes up behind me to read it just stares blankly at it and then leaves. But I have been prone to use less... polite methods. That is to say, I accidentally bit my friend. But I couldn't help it! It was a reaction, completely automatic. I still feel so bad. My legs (great kicking utensils) were tied up at the moment and my friend was trying to pry my hands off of my journal. I only had two optioins. 1. Let them read it, or 2. Stop them, and use whatever means possible. Honestly, I had no choice but to choose route number 2. I chomped down on her arm, acting completely out of self-defense, of course. Man, I feel so bad!! crying And she's never quite let it go...

When I'm writing on my laptop at school I use size 1 font so they can't read it. I've had people start reading my work out loud over my shoulder, it's horrible x3
