I'm watching this anime on Youtube as we speak and I must say it is both psychotic and amazing. Besides the fact that all the girl characters are adorable to the max, they're also crazy.
"On one hot summer day in 1983, a transfer student named Maebara Keiichi comes to a peaceful rural village in Hinamizawa. There, he befriends his classmates Rena, Mion, Rika, and Satoko. Accepted as a full-fledged member of the "club," Keiichi and the gang plays all sorts of activities ranging from card and board games to hide-and-seek. But just as Keiichi was beginning to be assimilated in simple rural life, he stumbles upon the dark history of Hinamizawa. As Keiichi dives deeper into the mystery, he finds that his new found friends may not be all what they claim to be. "

I adore this series. I started watching it after I moved to a small, middle-of-nowhere community where the fog blocks the roads and the wolves howl every night and for a while I was really paranoid. I saw it when it just came out, before all the episodes were released, and may I just say the first arc almost gave me a heart attack?

Man, I watched this last year when Kai was still being produced, and I've got to say, I couldn't be alone when watching Higurashi. I had to keep my dog tied to my chair so she wouldn't leave me alone. I couldn't stay in dark areas or sit near them in fear of Shion comin' outta nowhere with some
hammer and nails.
And then after the second time 'round in watching the Higurashi series, I got used to it and just laughed when I saw the death of youth by the hands of
someone one wouldn't expect to be a killer. Although, they actually can be the most murderous of people really. And well equipped to do the job, actually. With much less of a mess to clean up, too...
But yes, a 9/10 from me. It lacks that extra bump up to 10 because of the quality of animation, although I didn't mind too much. They could've put more effort into it, but I suppose they simply wished to throw people off completely with the cuteness and slice-of-life look it had to it. I know it threw me way off during the first episode.
A recommended series for those who can down gore and death of youth/murderous intentions of youth as well as explicit scenes of mutilated corpses. For an anime based off of a series of games, it is very well done. I seriously want the games in my possession, however! A must have...I must have it...NAO PLX!

Her whole arc toward the end of Season 1 was amazing, I loved her so much.
I hated Satoko.
'Nii-nii! Nii-nii! nii' -STAB- "STFU && GTFO D:<"
When she got stabbed to death made my life~
Does anyone know when season three comes out, if any?
I've heard rumors of it coming out soon, but I don't know when D:

Higurashi = Cicada.
But yes, Satoko was quite annoying with her Nii-nii seizures. Really...
I was gawking when she got stabbed like, to death...on a stake, through
the head. Rika had her badarse moment during the time
with the trying to give Shion the vaccination for the Hinamizawa
parasite disease. Then it advanced into an all out brawl, yo! Freakin... When
Fighter Lolis Attack.
I've no idea when season 3 will be released. I'm following the news
I get on Animesuki's forum. But, have you read the manga adaptation?
Onisarashi-hen? Crazy, although it's a side story. Still freakin' insaaane.
